The perfect romantic engagement setting and wedding venue!

We celebrated our daughter’s wedding at the Blaylock this past weekend, and we highly recommend it as a venue to celebrate weddings!

Brett and his wife, (the owners) and Sherry and Ryan, (the hosts) were so helpful and supportive to my daughter and son in law through the wedding planning process. Even with the last minute hectic wedding day plans, they were very accommodating and helped make everything perfect!

The house hosts 14 people, so the wedding party stayed there for the weekend, and we stayed at the quaint cottage on the grounds.
It was wonderful for friends and family to enjoy time together relaxing around the pool and visiting the day before the wedding.

The bridal suite is beautiful and quite large so the bridal party was able to get ready there together on the wedding day. The groomsmen were able to get ready in the large recreation/lounge room downstairs.

The surrounding garden provided the most picturesque backdrop for the ceremony and for guests to meander through during the day.

Thank you to Brett and his team for making our daughter’s wedding perfect in every way!!

Blaylock is also a beautiful and romantic setting for wedding proposals. Four years earlier our son proposed to our daughter in law after a romantic dinner in the gardens.

Best place ever!!

My wife has always wanted to stay at the Blaylock Mansion, and for years has made the trek to take photos in front of the beautiful mature trees and vista when travelling nearby.

We decided to make a go of it and were not disappointed. We arrived later in the evening and Brett met us at the door. He spent time with us speaking about the history of the building, the gardens, and was the perfect host for this trip.

We stayed during the summer when there was quite a lot of smoke outside due to wildfires and were pleasantly surprised the mansion had fresh and clean air.

The mansion has many common spaces to use and explore and we enjoyed sharing a bottle of prosecco while exploring the space. The mansion is lit from the outside and the effect of these lights in the rooms at night was positively atmospheric. The room was comfortable and exactly as described on the listing.

The breakfast was light and delicious with a yogurt parfait and a very enjoyable casserole with fresh orange juice and coffee. We followed up our breakfast with a tour of the gardens and enjoyed taking pictures with the stunning arbours and natural water features.

We would recommend this place for couples, and especially those who enjoy taking time in gardens. I know that we will be back, my wife has already told her Mom and I am pretty sure a girls weekend will be in order next summer.

If you are looking for a place where you can do more than just sleep, then this is it. We were looking for a space where we would have enough space to play games at a table, sit and lounge while reading or visit somewhere comfortable more than just a hotel room. This fit the bill perfectly with 4 sitting room/lounge area options we were even treated to a real fire in the fireplace downstairs. Great value.

We had such high hopes for a 3-day stay at Blaylock mansion in Nelson BC. As we drove up to the property we noticed the gardens we're somewhat unkempt. We were unpleasantly surprised to see the swimming pool was empty as we were hoping for some pool time during our stay. We were booked in to the presidential suite which is quite lovely. The inside of the mansion, although a bit musty, I'm sure could be quite Grand. I know that this is an old structure, and that was part of the appeal, but we did expect Plumbing to be in order. The master bathroom shower was all but unusable. The caretaking staff was comprised of a lovely couple who made us breakfast each morning and did their best to see that we were comfortable. I feel badly that during this season of it must be very difficult four establishments to maintain their standards while having very few guests.

We lived in Nelson, BC in the mid-90’s and always marvelled at this gem of a property on the shores of the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. We were delighted to learn it had been converted to a boutique hotel and were anxiously awaiting our stay there! We were not disappointed. Our hosts, Sherry and Ryan were delightful. We got a tour of the interior of this converted mansion upon arrival. We even got a choice of rooms! The rooms are spacious and quaint and while everything is “heritage” in age, it is completely in working order! 👍 A stroll around the sprawling gardens was truly tranquil and we reminisced what the lawn parties” must have been like 90 years ago!We also enjoyed lounging in the sun room (one of several common rooms) after a leisurely dinner in Nelson and sipped a glass of wine to end our day. This is a truly special place and highly recommended.

Very impressive. Right in front of the beautiful pristine Kootney Lake....just in case you want to go swimming.

The people, the history, the grounds, the updated building, the rooms, the breakfasts....and the reasonable price. Nothing like it!

You will not be disappointed.

All of the above are actually breath taking. W

This place is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at this charming mansion. The bedroom was astounding and the lounge rooms on the main floor were so relaxing. But I have to say, it was the hosts that made it memorable for us. Sherry and Ryan were so hospitable and friendly and their breakfast was out of this world. As long as they remain at this property, we'll be returning for additional stays.

Our recent stay at the Blaylock Mansion was a truly unique experience, far beyond what you’d expect from a typical hotel. It's clear that immense care and dedication have gone into preserving the history of this beautiful property. The mansion radiates charm and elegance, perfectly complemented by the serenity of the landscape and the stunningly beautiful gardens.

The attention to detail in upholding the mansion’s historical integrity is truly extraordinary. From the décor and furnishings to the architecture, every element has been thoughtfully preserved, allowing you to fully appreciate the vision and legacy of its original owner, Selwyn Blaylock. We have stayed at other historic mansions and this was truly the most peaceful and comfortable one we've stayed at so far.

The warm and endearing hospitality from Jennifer and Brett was an added bonus, and their love for this property shines through every aspect of the experience. Staying here was a peaceful escape from the usual hotel experience, and we can’t wait to return. If you’re searching for a unique and unforgettable stay, Blaylock Mansion is an absolute treasure.

Stayed a couple of nights in late June. Glad we did! Nice quiet area a few miles outside of Nelson, British Columbia. Make sure to take a walk through the gardens and up the hillside of the property. Beautiful views of the mountains and river. Many thanks to Brett and his family (longtime owners/innkeepers) for their hospitality! Nice room, excellent breakfasts. They know the area well and made nice recommendations on restaurants (Sage was our favorite). Brett, the order for my Rearden Metal t-shirt is in process...thanks again!

What a great romantic place to spend a couple of nights on our anniversary weekend.
The hosts were very good and showed us everything we needed to now so we could enjoy our stay. The mansion is full of history with pictures and artifacts to admire. Surrounding grounds were a please to stroll through and imagine times gone by.
