A beautiful setting for a family meal or an intimate gathering. The decor is "grand colonial", like from a bygone age but still feeling uptodate. Had a lovely meal here. Everyone ordered a different dish and not one of us had any complaints. Nice house wines to go with it. Would recommend this place to everyone except those wanting a noisy gathering.
Nicely renovated historic hotel. Parking is 100 feet away in a Parkade without an elevator. Library bar great for food or a cocktail. The pub is excellent. 3 levels, tvs, pool tables etc and better than typical pub food with a good atmosphere. Spirit bar downstairs hosts concerts etc so if you want a quiet night check the schedule first or ask for a room on the 4th floor.
We (a party of three) stayed in the 1898 Room, which is a split room with a king bed on one side, a queen bed on the other, separated by a bathroom. This is ideal for families or travelling companions who don't mind sharing a bathroom. The room is on the corner of Vernon and Ward Streets, and traffic noise can be heard when the windows are open. It didn't bother us but if you're sensitive about noise, choose a room facing the parkade beside the Hume. The room was very comfortable - high quality beds and bedding, coffee making facilities and we really appreciated the reduction in single use plastic waste by having soap and shampoo dispensers (rather than wasteful single use miniature bottles) in the bathroom. The public areas are very atmospheric with lots of wood and ambience in keeping with the history of the property. We ate dinner at the Library Bar which was great, and chose a breakfast included tariff. The breakfast-included menu is more limited than the a la carte but it has everything you need to start the day. We're looking forward to a return visit to the Hume Hotel.…
Although an older building, the craftsmanship and renovation style has put this hotel and lounge library room on the top of my list for Nelson stays. Ask for the corner suite! Breakfast is included. Not your usual buffet style but individually prepared.
Though our room was small it was clean and well furnished. The lounge downstairs, The Library has a good selection of beers, spirits and food. The bar, The Spirit Bar was host to the first st Patricks Day party in two years and it was great. The restaurant served a wonderful complimentary breakfast.
We spent 2 nights at THE HUME during a Christmas visit with family. We enjoyed 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners. The whole experience was delightfully memorable. The staff at the front desk and in the dining rooms was very welcoming, and efficient. COVID protocols were in place. Parking was included...
We went to the Hume for a little getaway. Location is excellent. Cannot say enough about the staff from front desk to restaurants. Service was exceptional , food was very good great variety .Stayed in one of the suites , did not disappoint. We will most definitely be back. Thanks to the Hume 👍👍
we stayed at this hotel because of its location and it didn't disappoint. Its one block down from the historic Baker Street of downtown Nelson. The hotel is amazing and so full of old world charm, the staff are fantastic and so helpful. There are 2 restaurants, the Library and the General store. The Library is in my opinion the better venue for those more intimate dinners. There is a pub which is also quite nice and a "Spirit bar" which i didn't get to see so i cannot comment on it. I would warn travellers that this Hotel advertises parking however the carpark is probably big enough for 10 vehicles and is very tight for a truck. There is a city carpark less than 100 feet from the main door whcih charges $12 for 24 hours and parking is free on the street from 5pm everyday and all day Sunday. Overall I would recommend this hotel for those who want a little character. Its not cheap but to me was worth every penny.…
Walking down Baker Street in downtown Nelson, BC, there are plenty of cool, old heritage buildings to admire. This being said, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Hume Hotel. It, too, is a gorgeous building, which only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. The Front Desk staff were welcoming and efficient. They recommended the Library Lounge where I had a GREAT meal served by very attentive Servers. My room was surprisingly large, impeccably clean and it's quiet proximity ensured a sound night's sleep. The Restaurant had many breakfast options and I had another excellent meal before hitting the road. Thank-you Hume Hotel & Spa, I shall return!!
We had a trip planned to Nelson this coming September and then on August 20 the Provincial Government issued a travel advisory asking to limit trips into the Interior region of BC. We reached out to this beautiful hotel canceled our reservation - it sounds like we were not the first to do so :( It was only going to be a two night stay but you bet our next stay will be closer to 4 nights. This is a terrible time for this industry and to find a hotel so lovely as The Hume Hotel left us feeling quite warm.
