Wow! We went to a gathering at the lodge and the staff could not have been more friendly, smart, and accommodating. The cabins are simple and more than adequate for our needs. Food was superb, and the prime rib was something special. Staff were responsive to requests and worked hard to ensure our comfort, even when the lodge was not yet fully open for the season. Ann manages all the details and makes it look easy. Boat rental is simple and inexpensive, and the fish were big and eager. Try an olive mohair leach for optimal fishing success with rainbows. Don't miss this gem.

Went to Corbett Lake Lodge never having fly fished before and not knowing what to expect. Ended up having a great time! Cabin 9 was relaxing and comfortable with kitchen supplies and a nice bathroom. As a woman used to travelling solo I was unsure at first because the deadbolt on the cabin door didn’t fit into the strike plate (strangely enough I was offered a key but that wouldn’t have helped). The lake is full of fish! And there are boats to rent (row or electric motor) and the caretaker, Michael, helped me get organized for fishing and taught me some things. I recommend Corbett for a trip away and look forward to visiting again after covid precautions are finished and I can experience the good food of the lodge.

We got lucky finding this gem so close to home! Only 2 1/2 hrs away. Wanting to get away from reality of life and the goings on of our crazy "covid" world.
Cabin #9 would be our home for 3 days. I was pleasantly surprised as to how clean it smelt and was! Spacious, offering 1 double bed and a single bed. It also had a fold down futon. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, but be sure to pack your own spices including salt and pepper. The kitchen only has a small bar fridge, so bring a cooler with lots of ice blocks if you plan to have an extended stay. We had a wonderful view of the lake and rolling mountains in behind to sit out and enjoy. Its a very quiet surrounding and good place to disconnect. The fishing was ok for us "not so seasoned" fly fisherman/woman :-) we brought in 4 or 5 good size fish to satisfy our "thrill of the catch" feeling and although more would have been nice we were good with that.
Thank you to Anne and staff for a great stay

I recently attended a conference at Corbett Lake Lodge. It was a great experience. The food was fantastic and the service, in its rustic environment, was friendly and efficient. Our next conference will be held at the Lodge. What a great place.

As an avid fly angler living in the lower mainland of BC, my fishing partner and I used to look forward to stalking the trout by dry fly at Corbett Lake on a regular basis. The fishing was outstanding and the many downed trees and weed beds provided some exclellent cover for these hard fighting Kamloops Rainbows.
Mr. McVey and his staff were surprisingly unpleasant despite the consistent business we provided and we were shocked when we recieved no thanks or recognition when we left two bottles of fine french wine for Peter. Instead we were later greeted with acusations of theft (it seems Peter had lost a fly box and saw us as the prime suspects). During dinners he would intentionally ignore us when displaying flambays to the dining room and just seemed to be put off by our presence.
After taking our money he banned us from staying further at his lodge for reasons that are still unclear to me. Peter McVey is a classless fool!

The quiet ambience of a decades old lodge with London quisine amidst murmored conversations is a unique experience. Owner/chef Peter McVey embodies PRIDE (Personal Resonsibility in Daily Efforts) when he visits all tables at night for a person-to-person view(s) and interview as to Inn operation, cuisine staff decorum et al. His immaculate starched white uniform, changed hourly along with his fishing patterns, the old world spruce rowboat technology, married to new, y world fishing etiguette. His Senior Advisor, Horace, is always available for consultation and good thoughts. 2003 Recipient of the Chanevaleax de Gran Pesces International Fishing Award, Le Pomme' de Chaddich, and the Rouge Sashe' of the Kingfishers in Bondage, McVey has brought Corbett Lake Country Inn, along with its unique strain of winter hummingbirds, to the epitome of B.C. fly fishing tourist perfection.

cabin we stayed in was run down had no shade around it unbearably hot inside. No micro wave to warm up food if you dare use the oven it turns the cabin into a Furnace if it was in the winter it wouldn't have been so bad.

We have spent a week at Corbett Lake Country Inn every year since 1986. Many of the guests are regulars who have been regularly coming for more years than that. We enjoy Peter McVey who is a world class character, a fine inkeeper, chef, fisherman, rod builder and all around good firend. Peter appreciates his guests and they appreciate him. The cabins are homey and comfortable. The food is wonderful. Peter has dilligently worked to grow some big trout in the lake. Fish of 3-5 pounds are common and there are fish in the lake from 10-16 pounds as well. If you can catch, photograph and release one of these big ones, you have the thrill (and rainbow trout) of a lifetime. This is the kind of fishing people with ample funds go half way around the world to enjoy. But beware, those big fish will break you off a lot more often than they will be caught.

Corbett is a terrific fishing lake. Great shoals, lots of fish in the 2-pound range. It's right on the highway so expect some traffic noise. The accommodations, however, are pretty run down. No money has been put into the place for years, and that's reflected in the cabins themselves and in the staff, who all seem a little run-down themselves, although they're friendly! If you want great fly fishing, don't mind the proximity to the road, and don't mind the rustic accommodation, you'll enjoy Corbett.

The Fishing: "Angling" should never be easy. It isn't about how many or how big, it's about the experience. There are many quality fish in Corbett Lake, how good you are at catching them is up to luck, skill and the conditions. 2-3 pounds, 15-18" or 10-20 pounds..they are all in there someplace.
The Lake: this isn't a large lake, there are no motors dripping oil into it. It's perfect for belly-boats or pontoons, they rent boats here and you are welcome to put your own in. The contours of the drop offs are well defined and easy to map out. There are many areas to explore by trolling a leach or casting a pattern or playing a chironomid. Yes, there is a highway going right by the lake, if that irritates you then hop in your 4x4 and head north to find more remote places. Personally, I like that this lake is so close to the road, it's easy access and I can be fishing in 2 hours.
The Cabins: this was the Second year for our Father & Son Annual Fishing Trip. Compared to last year, I was very impressed. Cleanliness and small touches made me smile this year. The new management and staff are doing an admirable job for not even having been at it since April. Our cabin was large, great little kitchenette, nice hot showers with great water pressure and even a wood burning stove to enjoy after a cold October morning on the lake in our belly boats. Cozy, clean and well equipped for the age and layout for these cabins.
The Lodge: we enjoyed as always the rustic and charming 1940's feel of the lodge. And this year I am very impressed with our chef Anne and her prime rib! Perfectly done to my taste and served with nice vegetables, fresh nugget potatoes and a tasty dessert. My son and I play cribbage after our meal and it's a warm and inviting place to just relax and enjoy the evening.
Summary: BC is full of lakes and accommodations, you could do so many things but Corbett Lake Lodge has a very nice, laid back an easy setup to enjoy for a weekend away. There's a balance to anything and everything considered Corbett Lake is a very decent and great place to enjoy a family stay at a charming lake not too far from civilization and without needing to 4x4 to get there or pack in all your gear and food. We select Corbett because it has everything we need to do some fly-fishing and enjoy our time.
