This is our second visit to Moon Shadow RV Campground. What brought us back, Carol and Larry who are so welcoming you think you just arrived home after a long stay away. The grounds are clean and the staff work all day to keep it that way. The sites are large enough for privacy but close enough to safely visit with your neighbors. Fire pits and full hookups and the beautiful Coldwater River runs right along the property to float, swim, or relax and read a book. Now our number One go to for camping.
We stayed there 5 days. . Nice setting but sites are squeezed extremely close together...if they spread out into their next field it would be much better. We had ant and wasp issues at our site but that is part of being in a country setting and the campsite cannot be blamed Main concern..we had a fire pit behind us for our use..,when the neighbours arrived and wanted a fire ..they were told ( we heard the guy too) that it was a shared fire pit either with us or the other side of them . We camp because we can stay in our bubble and social distance appropriately...a shared fire pit with strangers is not acceptable and the rating reflects this
We were driving from alberta to vancouver last night and got into merritt around 9pm. We found moon shadows on google so thought we would pull in for the night. The office was closed (reasonably) so we just did a lap around to see if there were any sites, there seemed to be plenty (without water or power, those areas of the campground were PACKED piled on top of each other). we looped back by the office to see if there was any directions on the door, there was not. so we went to go back to a site and planned to pay for on our way out. Unfortunately however, we passed a side by side that looked like a worker, so we stopped and asked if he worked here, he responded “what do you want?” we said we were just looking for somewhere we could camp for the night. he was extremely rude, very unwelcoming and almost scary in his response that there was no amenities or washrooms available, we had to be self contained and then told us to drive to the office SLOWLY. (we are in a 81 camper van, everything is slow) We were so uneasy about the interaction that when we got to the office we drove straight by back onto the highway. I understand the office is closed and this may have been night security but this is still not a way to interact with anyone, let alone someone trying to give you their money.…
This is a great stop for RVers looking for a quiet well operated park. The sites are ample, wifi is excellent , staff are friendly and accommodating. Located right on the river with great areas for dog walking, running etc. Highly recommend!
wife and I stayed here for almost a week, it was crowded, the firering was behind a tree, we asked to move it closer and was told no because of the road around the camp, we bought a propane firering due to this, our site was so close to neighbourss walk out of our rv and in the neighbours area of sewer. neighbour behind us wanted to move their ring also as it was beside our sewar and they would'nt allow them to, way over crowded, not a good week, if we come back to Merritt it won't be to this site, also we were close to office and wifi was terrible.
