We recently spent a week heli-skiing at this resort in eastern British Columbia. It takes an effort to reach (3.5 hour bus ride from Calgary followed by a brief helicopter ride) but it is worth the effort. The skiing this winter was fantastic with knee to hip deep snow on every run. Although we barely saw the sun all week due to daily snow, it was worth it. The lodge is comfortable with moderately spacious rooms, a spa with sauna, steam room, and outdoor hot tub (but no pool), a game room with ping pong and foosball, a dining/living room area with a fire place, bar, and dining rooms. The quality of the food was excellent and food options were always available between meals and while skiing. The guides are excellent and value safety over all. If skiing is not happening due to weather or other constraints, there are snow shoes, snow bikes with fat tires, and cross country skis available.

My wife and I did the Lodge to Lodge with CMH from the Bobby Burns lodge to the Bugaboo Lodge. We had had a great time at Bobby Burns and then had another great time at the Bugaboo lodge. The setting for this lodge is unbeatable, the room we had was excellent as was the food. The hiking was again unforgetable, made even better by the guides such as Deanne who is very knowledgable, calm and friendly. The service staff were also very good. Sitting in the hottub, being buzzed by hummingbirds and looking at the view from the lodge is a great way to relax after a full day's hike.

Unique opportunity to explore high altitude walking. Excellent accommodation and food. All staff and guides were very personable contributing to a truly memorable 3 nights stay. The Purcell Mountain range was great and to be ferried via helicopter to almost otherwise inaccessible locations was fantastic and often emotional

I have never been so thrilled with a vacation. The staff were just amazing. As a first timer, I felt safe, well cared for, and well educated about Heli skiing. The lodge was very comfortable and the food was delicious. The staff seemed to work so well together and I loved that we shared most meals. What a fabulous group! The equipment and instruction were excellent. We were SO lucky with several days of dumping snow, amazing powder, and then bluebird days. Just perfect. I still can't wipe the grin off my face. Thank you BUGABOOS

Just returned from a heli-hiking trip to the Bugaboos Lodge with Tauck Tours. I cannot adequately express what an amazing experience this was! To a person, the staff at the Lodge, the guides, the helicopter pilots - everyone - was friendly, professional, and eager to share their knowledge of and experiences about the 'Bugs' with guests. The Lodge is comfortable, and the food was great. The hiking was super, and we were divided by experience levels. And the helicopter is a blast! There is nothing like being in a 'heli-huddle' waiting for the helicopter to land two feet away from you, or being deposited on a rocky ledge with a jaw dropping view. We had all ages from teens to 80's, and it was a good experience for everyone. If at all possible, go heli-hiking in the Bugs with the gang at the Bugaboo Lodge - definitely a 'bucket list' experience you will never forget!

Canadian Mountain Holidays Bugaboo Lodge is a first class operation!
I spent a three day heli-hiking holiday there Sept 7th-10th and still feel overwhelmed by the experience.
At the start we were welcomed by friendly staff at the Helipad, and luggage transferred to a van while we were taken to the helicopter for the short flight to the lodge. There we were greeted by more friendly staff and introduced to our surroundings. By the end of the day we were all known by our first names.
The rooms are really lovely with large windows, comfortable beds, and full bathrooms with plenty of hot water and warm bathrobes. For an isolated lodge this is real luxury.
The food was excellent, with plenty of choice at breakfast, with a good assortment of items for lunch. Sandwiches were pre-ordered on the first evening. Dinners were delightful. One was a buffet, while two were sit down dinners served by the staff and guides who sat with us all. This created a wonderful atmosphere, and as a solo traveler I had no difficulty in feeling welcome. The guides and staff cleared the tables, by which time we had been made to feel so part of the group, that I actually offered to help clear the tables! My offer was refused.
The guides on the hikes were totally competent, knew their geography and provided us with all sorts of additional information on plants and animals in the area. They helped us over stream crossings and difficult rock scrambles. The guests were divided according to ability and age and you could request a change in your group if needed. I felt completely safe at all times even crossing a glacier. The guides, I noticed, showed a great deal of patience with a couple of group members who broke ranks and ran ahead at times. They did not appreciate the level of responsibility that the guides had for the group.
Two items that I found particularly useful was the half hour of stretching exercises each morning before breakfast and also the extensive drying room equipped with boot dryers which had a lot of use.
On the issue of safety, we had an introductory demonstration on helicopter safety, in boarding and leaving the vehicle safely. The pilot was very personable and open to answer our questions.
On the last evening we were guided to a wonderful fire pit for a camp fire surrounded by comfortable seats.
Overall the only problem with this trip was that it was too short! It was a most marvellous experience!

This facility is very much a one of a kind remote, self sufficient "off the grid" mountain lodge. It has some of the best heli-skiing terrain in the world and all at it's doorstep. The food and staff are very good. Heli contractor is very good with good pilots. The one thing that really rubs with they way these operations make additional "over the top" revenue is charging for additional vertical when they provided some crap vertical in the first place. Let's just take an example. We were in a very bad dry spell. No snow for two weeks in a sub par year (YTD). When the staff did a great job in finding good terrain (and they really do a good job at this). They plop you on the top of some glacier which is harder than a dance floor and you waste 50% of the run on crap when it was not necessary. They could have easily just done shorter runs in ALL POWDER but that is not the way they do things. They do everything they can to get you to that all important "threshold" of guaranteed vertical and beyond. The problem is that they could get you there by giving you great product the whole way thought. I have no problem with paying for extra, but I DO have a problem with paying for crap conditions when better quality was available. So, this is the twist* There were absolutely no weather related issues on this trip.

This place is EXTREMELY expensive over $11,500.00 for 7 days.

I never for a moment ever thought I would give a 5* review for a completely failed holiday, but that is exactly what I am now doing... confused? Read on...

We arrived at the Helipad for our 9:30 flight to Bugaboos Lodge and a short while later settled in at the Lodge and after a briefing and lunch headed out for our first afternoon of HeliHiking. It was every bit as good as promised. An excellent guide and pace pitched perfectly for us novice mountain hikers.

Back to the lodge for a well earned rest and Dinner. Followed by a further briefing on the next 3 days of hiking.

Then the bad news - while we had been in flight up to the Lodge the BC Government had issued a Back Country closure notice for the Rocky mountain area, including the Bugaboos - we were to be evacuated first thing the next morning.

Disappointed does not cover our feelings. But, as always, I judge a company not by what they do when things work out but how they respond to problems and I have to say the response by CMH and all their staff at the Lodge was outstanding in every way.

No doubt in the background, furious work was going in the background on to ship us out and close down the lodge by Noon the next day. But all we saw was cool calm professionalism of the highest order. An instant commitment to reimburse fully the unused part of our stay plus a night arranged and paid for in a very nice hotel in Banff.

I would have no hesitation at booking again for the same trip next year, this is an outstanding company.

Amazing experience all round.
Great lodgings, attentive staff, great facilities, great food and helicopter serviced virgin snow, run after run. It's not cheap but if it was, everyone would be there and it would be all skied out, so it's worth every penny.

I had the pleasure to visit Bugaboo Lodge on the last trip of the 2013 summer hiking season. There are several items that made this such a magical trip. First, the lodge (and its "backyard") is in one of the most beautiful areas in all of North America.

Second, the guides and staff made you feel like you were part of the family, not just clients. You would think that there would be some burn out after a long summer at the lodge. On the contrary, the service was very personal and excellent. The guides were not the "just out of college" summer job types. These were professional educators and back country masters. At all times, I felt safe, well taken care of and learned a ton throughout my stay. Most of the guides have been with CMH for many years, and this is what makes the experience so magical.

Finally, being able to heli-hike is a luxury that is worth the investment. The access we got and the territory we were able to see in just a few days would not be possible without the helicopter. The pilot was also a master. I was amazed at how smooth the flying was. I never felt sick or unsafe.

I appreciated eating family style with all the guests and staff. Although there were many levels of hiking available, you were typically paired up with others in your ability to hike with - thus allowing to meet new people and make new friends. Even though the rooms and the service is 5 star luxury, these communal components are what make this experience adventure travel. By the end of my time with CMH I did not want to leave and I felt like I truly had a transformational experience - the goal of any adventure.
