Kat and Paul run an excellent property for staying in if visiting Golden. We stayed for 3 nights in the large, very well appointed apartment comprising a large bedroom, open plan living/dining/ kitchen area and bathroom which is accessed by its own outer door. It has all you need if self catering plus a washing machine and dryer which was appreciated on our 17 day holiday in B.C. The bonus is a large balcony with views of the mountains and sunset. There is also access to the hot tub in the garden but as the weather was very warm we didn't make use of this. The house is set in a quiet residential area 10 minutes drive from downtown Golden. We were welcomed by Paul who showed us around the apartment. After inquiring of our plans for our stay; which were to use Golden as a base for hiking in Yoho National Park which is only 30 minutes drive away. Paul gave us excellent advice on how to access these and recommending eating places in Golden. Overall wonderful hospitality in a beautiful property.

Kat Coatesworth runs a wonderful B&B on a hill above Golden. We stayed 5 nights while heli-skiing with CMH Purcell, which is only 5 minutes away. Our group of 3 friends enjoyed having our own en suite bedrooms, but also having a common room where we could hang out and watch the Winter Olympics on our iPads (bedrooms have TVs with cable service plus Chromecast capability). Kat is an avid snowboarder and her whole family skis, so she offers knowledgeable advice about Kicking Horse ski resort and winter weather conditions. She also serves a bounteous breakfast. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all spotlessly clean, and stocked with quality linens, towels and toiletries, and the hot tub is clean and well-maintained. Canyon Ridge is great value. I would definitely stay again if in Golden.

Canyon Ridge Lodge is located on the outskirts of Golden near the Skybridge. It is about 30 minutes from the heart of Yoho and about 60 minutes from the heart of Banff National Parks. We stayed in the suite, which was incredibly spacious and well equipped. It had just about everything and more including a full kitchen, grill, and washer/dryer. The owners are quite friendly and helpful. I would say there were two things to note in an otherwise great stay. One is the location. It did start to wear on me the distance to get into the parks to access the trails. While it is no fault of the property, I'd probably look to stay somewhere a little more central. Although that can be quite hard to do depending on availability. The one upside to this is that we drove down through Kootenay and up to Golden one day, making for a very nice loop. The second note is that the room gets quite warm on hot days. I'm assuming the second floor gets a bit warmer, which is where the suite is located. There is a portable AC unit in the room, however the exhaust was not secured to the wall. This caused issues where the exhaust tube would often pop out of the wall, dumping hot air back into the room. We woke up one night hot as heck because the tube popped out and heated the suite rather than cooled. We eventually pinned the unit against the tube to kind of hold it in place, but it was far from ideal. If they get that fixed, there would not be any negative notes on the unit itself. Overall, a positive stay.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad you enjoyed the suite but are sorry to hear you had trouble with the AC during your stay. It would have been great if you had let us know—we're always here to help with things like that and could have fixed it immediately. We could have also caught that you switched the machine from AC to Dehumidfy, and so the AC wasn't operating. Paul has now secured the AC exhaust more firmly to the wall to prevent any other guests from this experience. Best, Kat

Cons: * small basement room * super soft mattress / sink into the middle * poor sound isolation from other guest rooms
Overall I’d give it 3 stars- if you have to, sure, but not comfortable or nice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry that the room didn’t meet your expectations. As a B&B, we offer a more intimate, home-like experience, often involving smaller rooms and less sound insulation than larger hotel-style accommodations. While many of our guests enjoy our style and furnishings, we understand that each guest has their own particular taste, and our offering may not be the perfect fit for everyone. We aim for transparency on our website by providing detailed descriptions and photos of our rooms so guests can clearly understand what to expect. We will certainly consider your comments as we continue to improve our guest experience. All the best, Kat & Paul

We stayed for 10 days in the apartment and really loved it! It is fully equipped very spacious and modern and has a very comfortable king size bed. Kat and Paul are lovely and really looking after everyone staying at their B&B. It truly is a 5 star accommodation for a very fair price. We would return to stay anytime. Thank you to Kat and Paul again....

Excellent accomodations. We we traveling through the rockies and I had found The Canyon Ridge Lodge using Google. We were met by Kat on our arrival. We stayed in room 3. My partner and I were impressed with the decor and the attention to all the details. Extremely clean rand comfortable rooms with everything you need. We enjoyed the Hot Tub and the view. Breakfast was enjoyable and deliciious. Kat was able to answer all our questions and made some suggestions that we followed and enjoyed. We will stay there again on our next trip through Golden.

Canyon Ridge Lodge B+B in Golden was an absolutely wonderful B+B. Our hostess Kat was bright and bubbly and had lots of great advice for local sights and attractions. She told us to go to see Boo, the local grizzly bear, on the first available time and we did- great advice because he was so active then. The B+B is very clean and tidy, modern with large rooms and ensuite. We had a tv in our room. The common area shared by guests is large and comfortable. We used the spa after our hikes - that was great! The breakfast Kat provided was very good - cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cooked eggs and toast (or muffins). Well worth a stay here. Thank you.

My friends and I had a great one-night stay. Kat is a wonderful host (and chef for that matter) - she greeted us with a big smile and genuine warmth throughout our stay. We found the accommodations to be clean, comfortable and charming. She provided a delicious, expansive breakfast and was gracious in helping us plan the day's activities.

We had a lovely room with an excellent en suite. Kat, is an excellent host and gave us some excellent tips for our onward journey, she even offered to do some washing for us which was much appreciated. Breakfast was good and plentiful and we enjoyed Kat's suggested restaurant. You really need transport to reach the town centre as the house is on a new development on the outskirts.
