Check in was good at the main lodge, but the $15 per night indoor car park charge wasn’t, we opted to park outside! We were though given a temporary pass to go inside and unload, which was helpful.
The room was large with a fully fitted kitchen, including a washer dryer and a good sized bathroom.
The furnishings are fairly dated but clean and the room was practical with tiled flooring in the entrance.
There’s no housekeeping during the stay, but calls to reception were answered and items dropped off promptly.
Our room on the 2nd floor overlooked the slope which was lovely during the day and evening to people watch but at 4am the noise of grooming/snow clearing vehicles with beeping reversing alarms was frustrating. I know they have to groom/snow clear but by the end of our stay I was a little fed up with it and tired. I’d advise anyone booking to get a room as high up as possible and a room facing the valley and not the slopes.
The ski lockers and boot room are at the bottom of the hotel and a door leads directly to the slopes. Boot dryers available meant starting the day with warm dry boots was a treat.
Each section of the hotel has an outdoor tub, which is communal use. The tub itself was clean, but the patio area surrounding it was dirty. I watched the housekeepers/maintenance clean the tub and gym room but during our weeks stay no one cleaned the surrounds, leaving plasters (yuck!) to grow mouldy around the edge.
The ease of ski in ski out means this hotel complex is always going to a great choice for winter holidays in Golden/Kicking Horse.

Well equipped kitchen and amenities. Clean, great WiFi access. Parking is a bit cumbersome to get to since we were on the forth floor.

Close to all the restaurants at the resort. Kitchen is well equipted to cook for yourself. Staff keeps the consumables we’ll stocked.

Only 20 minutes into town so going in for dinner isn’t bad especially since the car is parked in an underground lot.

Would definitely stay here again.

From dealing with Dom on the phone in advance of arrival through our five night stay for a ski group event we found the staff pleasant and accommodating. Really enjoyed the boot dryers in the ski locker area. We were at the Mountaineer in a 1 bedroom with kitchen and laundry whose location allowed us eat in for lunch on the days we weren’t enjoying the delicious lunch and coffee at Double Black. We also had some nice meals in Golden as suggested by the hotel staff. Our first time to Kickinghorse and we were very impressed. The ski terrain and guides were world class but without the accompanying prices and crowds.

The photos do this justice as it was dirty & old. We booked our 1 bedroom suite & noticed brown stains on the sheets. Front desk offered new sheets or a different room… we chose a different room. Once we entered the room down the hall we checked the sheets & noticed a large black stain on the sheets. Front desk stated that they send out their linens. Nonetheless ( especially during a pandemic ) I expect stricter cleaning protocols.

Overall the room was not cleaned up standard.

No AC in room. Room was extremely stuffy. They had to replace a broken portable fan in our room with a loud and ugly fan. Poor service, no one picks up the phone after 9 pm. No public washroom in common areas. All facilities are closed due to COVID I guess. Idiots living right above us, they were noisy. We stayed in 2 bedroom suite, with only 1 tv. Mosquitos everywhere. Should have installed screen doors.

We stayed at Glacier Lodge for a weekend of skiing at kicking horse. We arrived early before the lifts started running and attempted early check in. Our room wasn’t available, but the staff were extremely helpful and allowed us were to use their health club to change and get ready for a day of skiing. The amenities are amazing. After a long day of skiing, their hot tub and steam room helped with our recovery for the next day.
Rooms are very clean and well appointed for a ski chalet style room. They are equipped with mini fridge and sink, etc...
So we were able to make our own breakfast and lunches.

I’m disappointed. We booked 6 months out and the hotel had our arrival dates incorrect so had to find us another room. Great they could find one, but the room we were put in hadn’t been cleaned properly with the coffee machine still full of old coffee and the in-room heating is broken.
The hot tub is very small and uninviting, along with the layout of the sauna and gym. Dumbfounded at whomever designed it like this.
The location is great though.

This was our first stay at the lodge and it was underwhelming. The parking lot was extremely muddy which was both a slipping hazard and created really muddy footwear.

Checkin was a breeze and our front desk agent was very pleasant.

The hotel is quite dark with not a lot of light. The hallways are a little dingy but clean.

Our room itself was fine and clean. Quite small and compact. We faced the parking lot which was okay and had a decent patio - but the chairs and table were in bad repair. The bed and linen was comfortable as were the pillows. There is a kitchen counter with coffee maker and microwave. They only had decaf which was a bit of an annoyance. Also, there is no AC in the rooms, so that wasn’t ideal and it got pretty muggy in the middle of the night. No housekeeping is offered at this hotel. The bathroom was large and the water in the shower was hot.

If you’re going skiing, you can’t beat the location.

We felt the room was expensive at the $200 a night mark.

Nice place. For those visiting kicking horse resort, it’s the ideal place to stay. The rooms are comfy, a bit dated but the whole area is kind of under developed and low key and this may be welcomed to many people. I suggest upgrade from the guest suites, it’s not much more and gives you much better room. Overall, it gets 5 stars because of value.

Our stay was okay. The room was clean and we had a nice view. Ski resorts are so hard to maintain because all the equipment dinging up everything. So, lots of areas needing touch up. Our room was okay, lacking easily accessible electrical outlets, a tiny bathroom and poor wifi. I think if we had a booked a one bedroom our stay would have been a bit better, so I don’t want to put too much on the hotel.

The front desk staff were excellent, i will certainly say that. Yeah, this place is a nice stay. I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but you should certainly give it a try!

Unfortunately as there is only one 3 bedroom unit at Glacier Mountaineer there are no photographs of that specific unit available. As units are individually owned there is often small personal differences for each unit.

Do you have access to a BBQ on site for guest use?
Answer from Brandy B
Golden, Canada
Thank you for your enquiry and for your interest in our property. With our mountainside location, we are outside of the local fire protection zone, so regrettably, BBQ's are not permitted or supplied for our units. We sincerely hope that this will not be a barrier to you enjoying our property and all that our location has to offer.
Answer from Brandy B
Golden, Canada
Hello! Many thanks for your great question. We are a suite hotel, so many of our units have full kitchens. This combined with a separate bedroom, full living room and balcony to take in the mountain views, makes for a great holiday experience. Omar had a great tip above... valley facing rooms offer outstanding Rocky Mountain view and are significantly cooler in the summer as our hotels do not have air conditioning. We do have a very limited number of pet friendly rooms. There currently is availability for the dates you have mentioned, however we are expecting a very busy summer and highly recommend booking as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact us directly on 1.877.754.5486 to make your reservation with one of our guest services staff. We look forward to welcoming you this summer!
