After a less than satisfactory stay at a Best Western somewhere in Florida a few years ago, I quipped that instead of "Best Western" and "Best Western Plus", only the best hotels in the chain perhaps should be labelled "Best Western" – and the others only "OK Western", "Good Western", "Better Western", as appropriate. Accordingly, as we were crossing through Golden last week and needed a bed for the night, we booked this Best Western with some caution. We needn't have worried. Clearly, the Best Western management (or perhaps only this particular franchisee) have been listening, and have improved their game. The lobby is inviting; the room spacious and well appointed. USB recharging stands on the bedside tables, and reading lamps you can read by (hurrah!). A pool. A highly solicitous receptionist (Darwin). And best of all: a buffet breakfast with metal cutlery (like the old times); 3 types of cereal; excellent scrambled eggs; the crispiest bacon you have ever had; sausages; a wafflemaker; a toastmaker; a pancake maker (!); yoghurt with multiple toppings; tea, coffee, and juices. The only faults: a mysterious lack of tablespoons, and no black tea, only various herbal teas. Easily fixed.…

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. My husband and son enjoyed the pool and the breakfast choices were just right. Clean and quiet place in Golden and our room was quite a decent size for a family of 6.

Standard older hotel. It has been well maintained for it's age. Very quiet, we never heard any other guests. Breakfast was standard offerings but certainly fine for the start of the day. Pet area is grassed and easy to get to. Many dining options ( fast food) within an easy drive. Nothing wrong with the hotel.

Very disappointing. We are frequent Best Western customers & count on quality and cleanliness. The outside of this BW was showing signs of neglect & was off putting. The lobby was a much more presentable decor. Pool area very nice. Room needed more attention to cleaning detailing. Bathroom mirror still had old toothpaste, water splashes. Sink had visual brown crud near countertop. Fixtures were worn & not attractive. Tile floor grout hasn’t been cleaned properly in ages in the trafficked areas. Gross. Shower was clean. Bed okay. Our room faced the mountains which was nicer. Yet, there is an active train line nearby & is noisy at times. There is an elevator which is nice. There is also a laundry area which costs $2. for wash & $2. for dry. Standard household sized machines. Didn’t ask about detergent availability nor cost. By far, this particular Best Western was disappointing. More attention to curb appeal, and cleanliness is important. The dirty mats were never taken down from the rail out front during our 4 day stay. It does make one wonder if you made a mistake in booking here, especially after seeing the picture of this hotel online. …

I read the reviews before choosing to stay here. I read the bad reviews first. I expect four and five star reviews otherwise your tenure in business will be short lived. The few one star reviews for this property were really not warranted. The breakfast was similar to the Marriott, the rooms were quiet clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. I'm quite picky when it comes to hotel stays as I'm a light sleeper. I didn't hear doors slamming, loud walking, or the occasional train going by. I'd stay here again.
