A group of 12 of us just spent 4 remarkable days at Mistaya Lodge. We hiked with a private guide with the exception of one day where The owner Dave took part of our group on a separate hike. The lodge was exceptional…the food was incredible and plentiful. You packed your own lunch each day with lots of homemade treats to take with you for keeping you going on the trail. All the hikes we did were different and each had there own special moments. The lodge is spotless and had the added bonus of hot showers, a sauna and toilets inside. Dave was extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk too. From the warm welcome by Cindy at the helipad to waving goodbye to Daveand is staff we had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend Mistaya Lodge for your next hiking adventure.

Mistaya is the best destination experience I have had in a long time. Situated in a unique, remote mountain valley, the natural beauty is a backdrop to the lovely lodge. What sets Mistaya apart is the professional organization. Everything is well done, from arrival at the helicopter hanger to the lodge and back again. It runs like clockwork under the guidance and hands on participation of the owners. Every detail is covered. The lodge is spotlessly clean; food fabulous and plentiful; and there is a feeling of family and home. This experience is worth very penny paid. Far exceeded our expectations and will plan a return visit.

I spent a week of guided ski touring at Mistaya during Feb 2020. I have visited more than 6 other ski touring lodges in the past. The accommodations, service, guiding, food and terrain could not be faulted. I strongly recommend this lodge to others that ski tour.

I was there with a group of 14 senior hikers (55+) from Calgary so we had the whole lodge. We were lucky as the weather was perfect for our 4 nights with a couple of rain showers happening twice overnight and sunny weather, blue skies for our hiking. The guides, Dave and Sandra were excellent and took their time with our 2 groups so that everyone had an enjoyable time. Over the 4 days, I managed 50 km and over 3000 m elevation gain.
The food was first class and there was plenty of it. They catered to 1 vegan and 2 people with allergies. Dinners were chicken breast, lamb stew, pork tenderloin and BBQ beef tenderloin. For breakfast, there was both cold cereals, porridge and fruit to start followed with egg dishes and we made our own trail lunches.
I can definitely recommend Mistaya Lodge.

Mistaya Lodge is more than a back country ski lodge. It offers great hiking too! Lots of variety, great alpine flowers, sweeping vistas, it has it all. Hosts are so warm and knowledgeable that it was also a great learning experience. Highly recommended.

Recently, our group of 11 friends were able to enjoy a wonderful experience at Mistaya Lodge. It was terrific - everything about Mistaya Lodge exceeded our expectations!

The lodge itself is clean, warm, spacious and very comfortable. It is a remote backcountry lodge, located in the Canadian Rockies. Helicopter access is the only practical way in or out of the lodge. The short 20 minute flight offered great views, and was a fun and quick transition into the backcountry. The lodge overlooks a pretty mountain lake, and has amazing views of glaciers and mountain peaks right from the deck.

The owners and staff at Mistaya were great. They were very efficient and professional, but at the same time very friendly. They made you feel welcome to be there.

There were a selection of day-hikes on offer, most of which were 10 - 12 KM in length. One day's hike took us up-close to four different glaciers. Another day's hike took us to see three alpine lakes, along with a high plateau and incredible vistas.

The guides were excellent! They kept us on track, and provided lots of interesting information regarding the local geology, history, flora and fauna.

The food at the lodge was exceptional - delicious and healthy meals prepared on site.

Most of our group have been avid backpackers for decades - we love having the chance to be in the backcountry. In our opinion, our time at Mistaya Lodge provided the same opportunity to explore the backcountry - but with the benefit of having an extremely comfortable lodge within a half-day's hike.

Mistaya Lodge was a great experience, and we highly recommend it.

What a place to visit. It feels like home for my soul. Dave, Cindy, Sandra and everyone else do great work to ensure a fabulous stay. The terrain is gorgeous and can provide a challenge, but Dave and Sandra know how to tailor a hike so that even less adventurous folks can enjoy the day on the trails. It really does not matter which trails they take, as they are all drop-dead gorgeous. Food is also excellent, and the beds comfortable and warm. Toilets inside the lodge, and hot water at the tap make it feel even more comfortable. There’s a hot sauna and warm showers as well. It’s just a great experience. We have been to many backcountry lodges, and Mistaya stands at the top for us.

Amazing experience even for non-hikers! The location is breathtaking and the lodge is heavenly. Amazed at the super friendly staff and the seamless operation they're running. Food was incredible and the guides accommodated my city-girl lack of experience with nature and ensured a great experience. Visit if you can!
