The Hotel and rooms are very nice and clean . The service overall has been very good except for one incident with a front desk manager where the discounted rate ( Expedia ) had already been given to me and was promised to my sister and her husband but the next day the manager she would not honor the price . We were going to checkout and leave as this was horrible service but We ended up talking to a different manager(sorry can’t remember his name younger with a beard ) that was amazing and treated us with respect and smoothed things over . The food and drink prices in the Casino are WAY overpriced and their serving rules make absolutely zero sense !!! They charge 12 dollars for a SINGLE Caesar and over 17 dollars for a double rye !!! You aren’t allowed to have a double vodka / gin etc etc but you can have an over priced rye ? You aren’t allowed to order any shooters and if you chug your drink your completely cut off ?? The bar staff was amazing and treated us great !! I’m sorry but your bar rules and drink prices are insane (this isn’t Las Vegas ) and make absolutely no sense!! Also there are no table games and only slots . The vending machines are very expensive it billed me 7.50 for a small bag (50g ) of cheesies so hit up a grocery store and liquor store in Cranbrook before you check in . The resort is beautiful but the casino definitely needs some changes for your pricing on food and drinks !!!

We really enjoy staying in hotels with a history - and the St. Eugene delivered, in spades. I hope to stay there again; unfortunately, we were just passing through this time around.
Our room (412) in the Mission Building did not disappoint. It was spacious and beautifully decorated. I loved the many authentic touches they maintained, such as the checkered tile in the bathroom. The king size bed was just to my liking, not too hard or soft, with top shelf linens and a good selection of pillow types from which to choose. We were able to open the windows and let in the night air. The view was serene and peaceful. I slept like a baby.
Unfortunately, the restaurant in the Mission Building was closed that Monday evening, but we had a very satisfactory meal in the 19th Hole Bar and Grill. There was a Keurig with coffee and tea pods in our room, which we enjoyed before setting off early.
Things to know: in addition to a small casino, this resort has a picturesque golf course - with a pretty active tee schedule. A Blind Golfers tournament was underway during our stay. There is a pool, sauna, relaxation tubs, and fitness center. In addition to the many art pieces on display, there is an Interpretive Center run by the Ktunaxa Nation with guided tours of the Center and the hotel building.
Note: We had to carry our bags; to avoid the stairs at the front of the Mission Building, one needs to use the entrance on the Lodge side. The step-in bathtub shower had a grab bar. I understand that the rooms in the Lodge building have more accessible features. There were enough outlets and the wifi was great.

My husband and I recently stayed at St. Eugene and absolutely loved it. Check in was very smooth and the staff was very nice. Our room was large, spacious, and clean. After spending double the amount for a very small, old hotel in Radium that was a ÂĽ of the size, this was such a nice change. We loved exploring the property and reading about the history. It is a beautiful place. We enjoyed a trip to the pool as we had just had a long, hot journey on a motorbike to the hotel. The pool water was a bit dirty but it was late in the day on a very hot day and the pool was filled with a lot of people (mainly children) so it was not surprising and not that bad. Upon check in we had asked for recommendations for supper and were told that the prime rib dinner in the casino was good. It was amazing. A little pricy at $30 a plate, but it also came with a $10 game credit, so the price was actually only $20. Our biggest disappointment (and the reason I have not given 5 stars) was the restaurant at the pro-shop. We had taken a seat and waited for 15 minutes before we even received our drinks - coffee and water. The temperature on the patio was climbing so we decided to move inside where it was a bit cooler. We watched numerous people come in, eat and leave and we didn't even see our waitress. When we asked how much longer, as we wanted to get on the road before the heat got too intense, her response was "Oh - do you have a tee time?" Finally, after an hour, we told her don't bother. We are leaving. We then found out that our breakfast had not even been started at that point. She knew that we were not happy as when we went to pay for our coffee, she comped it. The A&W was more than happy to make us breakfast and take our money. We definitely will be back but will avoid the pro shop.

This was our third time to resort for a much needed mini vacation. We were hesitant to go as I was injured and on crutches but decided that we could work around it.
Front desk staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. After a mix-up with our room we were given a 20% discount off the room rate.
Food options are extremely limited. Seating and menu options are not sufficient for the amount of clientele at this resort. At the 19th hole we witnessed numerous customers walk out in frustration due to orders taking too long and poor service. The staff during the day seemed to try however they appeared to be understaffed for the increase in patrons for the long weekend. After spending a day by the pool we ordered meals from the 19th hole which at first said they were accommodating a large wedding party so they weren’t sure they could facilitate.. even though the wedding party reservation was for 6:30pm and it was approximately 6:00pm when I called. After about 25 minutes we received a call in the room from a you g lady who was very agitated, claiming I had given her the wrong room number. When I verified the room number she claimed that she had been to the room and knocked but no one answered. I advised her that no one had been to the room she argued with me and was adamant that she had been. I tried to tell her that no one had come to our door. Her response was “well, your meals are here if you want them”. When I explained that I was on crutches and could not possibly walk the distance to the restaurant let alone carry the food items, she again repeated in a hostile and dismissive manner that “our meals would be sitting there”. Completely unacceptable way to treat guests who have advised they are incapacitated, in addition to being yelled at and spoken down to by restaurant staff.
Casino staff were great. Friendly and happy to see people.
After the second day we asked about using a golf cart to assist with me getting around this vast property. They were more than willing to oblige and it made getting around much more easier. Thank you for that!!
With the exception of one set of entrance doors there does not appear to be accessibility for those with mobility issues to access buildings and access to rooms. If alone I had to wait for assistance from patrons of resort to open doors for me. My experience with having to be on crutches for a limited duration of time hopefully… has given me a newfound appreciation for those with permanent mobility issues difficulties and frustration with limitations placed on them due to inaccessibility. I would definitely encourage this resort and casino to address this issue as I was not the only client experiencing this limitation.

I enjoyed our recent stay at St Eugene. The property itself is very attractive, on a golf course about 10 minutes out of town and the site of a former residential school (considerably renovated). We are neither golfers nor casino goers, but chose this hotel because of the good reviews. We were happy with our rooms which were large and well appointed with a high end coffee machine and a small balcony. My one criticism was that the place itself is labyrinthine and we had a very difficult time finding the swimming pool (poorly marked). Once we finally found it we discovered the pool towels are tiny and thin, certainly not what one would expect. And there are no bath robes so one has to go through the hotel lobby in one's clothes & change in the changing rooms, which is an inconvenience. We ate at the less expensive of the 2 restaurants which is located on the casino floor. The menu there was very limited and the atmosphere lacking - not recommended. No doubt the other restaurant is much better, but we didn't try it out. Nonetheless we had a good stay at St Eugene and it certainly felt like a holiday being there in beautiful surroundings.

I was sent an emailed bill for a late check-out that was more than double the cost I was quoted (they said I'd be charged $35, but I was charged $80). The reception desk said they couldn't help me and the service manager hasn't answered my emails after more than a week. It's not even the money but the lack of transparency and the total lack of customer service that bother me.

Beautiful property, comfortable room and wonderful breakfast. However, DO NOT accept accommodation in room number 2115. Laundry is wheeled out in large wheeled bins next to the room starting at 6am. The sound resonated to loudly that it rattles the lamps

We have spent many nights at this resort over the last decade and it is unfortunately slipping into a sad state.
Everything seems like it needs either updating, cleaning, or fixing. Almost every piece of furniture in our suite had a stain or tear. Dead bugs in the pop machine dispenser. Cracked tiles around the bathtub, missing screens on windows, blankets provided with holes in them. It seems like the building needs painting, and the decks on some of the lodge suites look like they are rotting.
The setting is stunning. It seems like they are starting to update the pool area. The casino is really well kept and the service was very good there.
We tried Numa a few times enjoyed the food, although the service was very inconsistent. The bannock spinach dip is great!
We loved meeting one do the night patrol gentlemen who actually went to the school and was kind enough to give us a tour!

We are taking a mini road trip from Alberta up the Columbia Valley, and had planned on stopping in Fernie until this place popped up on a travel app as cheaper, and obviously not a chain, so we decided to drive a bit further an stop here instead.
We are so glad we did! The staff were lovely, the facilities amazing, and the food delicious. The grounds and setting are beautiful, and St Eugene's itself, despite it's dark past, is a striking building, as is the barn that not serves as the golf shop and 19th hole.
It was very quiet during our stay, (Sunday of the Canada day weekend) so there were no issues for us with wait times or getting food at the 19th hole, and we hardly had to share the outdoor pool which the kids thought was fantastic. We didn't use the casino (younglings) or golf (flying visit), but we will definitely be back at some point in the best future.
Sadly the interpretive centre was closed while we were there which in no way detracted from our stay, but ultimately this hotel is a former residential school reclaimed by the Ktunaxa people, and I would have really appreciated the opportunity to learn that history from their perspective, especially since we spent the next day at Fort Steele (definitely worth the day trip if you stay at St Eugene's). I admit I am the kind of person who bee lines to museums, though, and I did like all the old photographs of the site they have up on the hotel walls.
Overall this was a lovely little gem of a hotel to find; why stay in a chain in town when you can stay somewhere as beautiful as this?
