We enjoyed our stay at the Bayview hotel. It’s very family-friendly and a great base location to explore that side of the island. The pool was well maintained and the free breakfast was great - loads of choice and replenished quickly. The staff are very pleasant.

The only hiccups we had relate to the crib provided and cleaning. I requested a crib with my booking, called to confirm a week before and didn’t get a sense that it was much of a priority. We brought our own travel crib and I’m glad we did. When we arrived, the crib wasn’t in our room so we requested it rather than setting up our own. The crib that arrived was not something we were comfortable putting our child in. Far too old (i.e. not in line with current safety standards) and the mattress too loose around the sides. In terms of cleaning, the room was spotless when we arrived with the exception of the sofa bed sheets which we discovered marks on. As we were leaving the hotel the next morning, we requested new sheets for the sofa bed. When we returned that evening, only the sofa bed had been made up, the rest of the room had not been cleaned. And the sheets had not been changed. I think there was a misunderstanding and in fairness to the staff they brought new towels incredibly promptly. We had no other issues with housekeeping in the following days.

I would also note that the suites are very small for the room type; long and narrow spaces. They are well maintained.

Overall a good hotel with many attractive extras, such as the pool and breakfast, included.

This is a great hotel. I'm glad we stayed here, and we will definitely stay here again. The staff were super friendly. The free breakfast was great. The pool and hot tub are awesome. Our room was a standard 2 queen room. Beds were good, TV was nice. Nothing was lacking.

We stayed for a couple of days at the Bayview Hotel in Courtenay, BC
Dec. 5th & 6th, 2023
Again
Feb.16th, 2024
We booked a two bedroom suite which we found to be very clean and very roomy! Actually, staying there was like home away from home!!
It was so clean!
I was especially impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom, (sparkling clean actually).
We arrived in the evening and Gabe the Desk Clerk who booked us in was not only polite, he was very friendly and helpful.
My husband has Alzeihmer's and can't be left alone. Gabriel said he and all the staff would keep an open for him in case he got out of the room while I was sleeping. Needless to say I had a good sleep knowing they were on the look-out.,
When it came time to leave and I said our good-bye's to Gabriel it felt like i was saying goodbye to a relative we had been visiting, because he made our stay feel that comfortable.
I would highly recommend the Courtenay Bayview Hotel. They not only offer excellent service, but a full hot breakfast in the morning that we could either eat in their Cafeteria or take up to our room to eat.
Would I go again? As you can see by my Review the answer is Yes!

Our family of 3 stayed here 2 nights while in the area visiting family. The hotel seems newer and was super clean! Furniture looked to be very new and in perfect shape.

The room had a separate bedroom, bedding was very comfortable and blinds blacked out all the sunlight.

Kitchenette has a mini fridge, sink, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. There are a couple of mugs provided. Would have been nice to have a couple of bowls/plates and silverware but we made do without.

Pool area is lots of fun - our 7 year old loved the water slide. Breakfast provided is a great added value- good variety of foods to choose from. All staff we encountered on our visit were very pleasant, professional and helpful. Housekeeping came and cleaned during our stay and lined up my daughters stuffies on the bed after it was made which she loved!

Absolutely no complaints about this hotel - I would 10/10 recommend staying here while in the area, we hope to make it back in the next couple of years. Would love to see an electric charge stall or two added here (and other hotels for that matter!). Otherwise everything was awesome.

Great value and service! At $180/night you can't beat the price with hot breakfast included. There are free refreshments at the door 24/hrs a day. The room was clean and quiet with comfortable beds. It's right next to walking trails that take you along the waters edge. The pool was average size but well maintained. The staff was friendly. Adequate parking at no extra charge. Will stay again!

Great hotel. All expectations met. Except one thing….the actual reservation process.
I thought I was calling their hotel to book my reservation. Instead as I find out from my credit card, I was redirected to a US call centre and charged $15.99 to reserve. Not once was I told the call was at a third party and was never notified of fee to book by phone.
Lesson learned ALWAYS ask if this is the hotel you’re calling and if there is a fee to book a room. Now I worry that this company has all my information plus credit card. Not happy.

From the moment you enter this hotel you think it is going to be a really great place to stay, and we were not disappointed. Very friendly reception. Good size bedroom with everything that we needed, lots of power points useful when travelling, very comfortable bed, good bathroom nothing to grumble about. Breakfast is pretty good and included in the price, you can eat all you like and there is lots of coffee. Very useful self service laundry. Two things stood out to use at Bayview, friendly and helpful staff and the cleanest hotel we stayed in during three weeks in Canada. Many hotels could learn a lot to their advantage about detail from this place. It was the only hotel which we chose as all others we stayed in were selected by a travel agent. We are both agreed to avoid travel agents in future and do our own thing!

Had a great stay at the Bayview while up in the Courtenay are for snowboarding. When I checked in I was greeted by Owen at the front desk, he was one of the most friendly & enthusiastic front desk clerk's I've encountered anywhere.

I stayed in an Executive King Suite, it was very clean and comfortable, with nice furnishings.

In the morning the included breakfast buffet was quite good, plenty of options to choose from, and there was a staff member there constantly cleaning and monitoring COVID safety protocols

Was a great stay and will definitely be back

This Family day long week end, we stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was fully booked and I believe we got one of the last rooms. And because of that, one of the most expensive. Considering the condition of our room, it should not have been rented. At $264 per night, one would expect a pretty nice room. There were many problems.. I will do this in point form. *The room was not of a $264/night calibre. We stay in hotels a lot and I would think o basic room like this would go for $160 at best *The room was extremely dirty (See photos) Mostly in the bathroom, where there was either mold or blackish brown scale on the grout on the bottom 10 inches of the tub surround to around the rub to the floor. The furniture was stained and the arms of the furniture was thread-bare *There were signs everywhere with an excuse that the rooms would only be cleaned every other day due to Covid. You would think that because of covid, they would clean more.. not less.. It makes me wonder what the common facilities are like. We did not dare to venture there. *This room came with a small kitchenette. however there was no utensils at all. and we had to use our own plastic cutlery. *all shampoo and soap dispensers were empty *The bathroom fan was very loud and probably should have been replaced a long long time ago but at least it would drown out the noise of the toilet running all night long. Even the ventilation for the kitchenette area was very loud, so no respite there. In a nutshell, I will not stay at this hotel again, I think I would prefer any other accommodation.

Thinking of a reasonably-priced hotel that is family-friendly and clean? This is the place! An awesome waterslide that is separate from the warm swimming pool (no crashing into swimmers); the staff are warm and welcoming; the room was clean and had a microwave, fridge & coffeemaker; the breakfast room was BUSY with a very popular pancake machine. Free wifi that worked. We chose this location as it's close to restaurants, easy to get to Mt Washington and there's a wonderful, easy path behind the hotel called the Courtenay Riverway Heritage Park Trail, which leads you into the city or to a loop around the Airpark where small planes quietly land and take off from. Such a treat. Good value for money.

The restaurant within walking distance is actually rated #1 in town on this site - Locals at The Old House. They can give you directions at the front desk. I have to admit though - we didn't eat there. We ate at Bisque, which we loved, but we drove.
