Issues with flight leaving Comox so we were required to stay overnight and go the next morning. Not much opportunity to use any of the facilities but they had a fitness room, nice indoor pool and business center. Breakfast offered in AM but we had to leave too early. Fairly new. Everything very clean and in great shape. Room was covered by Westjet so great price. If it was me I may have been a bit hesitant about $199/nt for a Holiday Inn. Front desk staff at check in was awesome and arranged a taxi the next morning for us because of the ongoing transportation strike in Comox. Overall very happy.

The room was clean and a good size, no issues at all with the room, but the corridors upstairs smelt damp. Decent TV choice, but Netfix wouldn't connect.

One thing we weren't told at check in was that the rooms were only serviced on request, We found out on day two when we queried this. Speaking to other guests, who also weren't told about room cleaning, requesting the room to be cleaned didn't always mean it actually happened.

Breakfast was the worst part. That ran out of items midway through the breakfast hours every day, e.g. we stayed three days and there was no butter or any sort of spread available on all three days. They also ran out of bacon, hash browns cinammon buns and jam on various days and this with at least an hour left till breakfast closed.

The hotel is brand new, so maybe these are teething problems and will be rectified.

The hotel had a query about our payment and I was told about this by a phone call from reception jaround 7am on the check out day and was asked to go down to sort it out. I tried to check the payments I had aleady made to the hotel on my laptop, but the hotel had aleady cut off my internet connection. Twenty minutes after the first phone call, so around 7:20am I got another, rather brusque call asking if I am going down to reception now. The query raised was valid, but had not been mentioned at check in, nor during my stay, so why the hotel deemed it so urgent that it had to be sorted at 7 o'clock in the morning, several hours prior to standard check out time, is not great customer service.

Stayed 2 nights on a drive towards the north of  the island. Very comfortable rooms and beds.  Spacious and good bathrooms as well.  Looks like newly opened or refurbished.  The hotel is around 3 kms from the main streets but has a few shops  and restaurants close by. Breakfast was very decent for a Holiday inn express with sufficient options.  Staff was very polite and friendly, and checkin was a breeze. If you are staying longer , please remember to ask them to clean the room. It will not be cleaned unless requested. They have a free EV charging station at the hotel as well.

My stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Courtenay was marked by a series of disappointments and inconveniences. The management's requirement for a letter from my supervisor to avail of the military discount struck me as unusual, especially when compared to other hotels that simply request a military ID. Unfortunately, this policy led to me missing out on the discounted rate for the first night due to the immediate unavailability of the required letter.

Despite intending to stay for two weeks, my plans changed, and I had to check out after 12 days. Surprisingly, the hotel charged me for an additional night, which seemed unreasonable given the circumstances. The inconsistency in policies, especially regarding discounts and early check-outs, left a negative impression.

Moreover, the hotel's strict enforcement of quietness for dogs contrasted sharply with the disruptive behavior of children in the hallways. This disparity in handling disturbances was frustrating.

Facility-wise, the pool, advertised as an amenity, was disappointing. It was small, unheated, and lacked a hot tub, diminishing the overall appeal. The elevators proved to be a source of frustration with their slow door operations, and the malfunctioning side door in the morning further added to the inconvenience.

The internet service, capped at 10 Mbps download speeds, fell below expectations. While the front desk staff were friendly, their lack of knowledge about various issues and frequent mention of being inadequately trained became noticeable and impacted the overall service quality.

The breakfast, touted as an essential amenity, lacked diversity. After two weeks of the same offerings, it became monotonous, and certain items frequently ran out due to the limited staffing in the breakfast kitchen.

In summary, my experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Courtenay was marred by a combination of unusual policies, facility shortcomings, and inconsistent service. Considering these factors, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

The front desk did not explain the multiple uses of the room cards e.g. the elevator! the room light, the restrictions between floor travel, the out of service ice machine, the lack of utensils needed for the microwave meals we bought (we used stir sticks!). We will not be staying at this Holiday Inn again on our trips to Comox/Courteney.

New and run well! Solid breakfast, rooms are very nice, centrally located to enjoy all you want in the area, across the street from the casino, highly recommend! Stayed in a king room on upper floor, place was busy for the weekend, staff was professional and accommodating.

There is nothing negative I could say here. We dealt with Vanessa at the checkin desk and most of our visit. The second she greeted us at the door we felt right at home. Every person in this hotel was amazing with us and our dog. The rooms were beautiful and clean and very comfortable. Very quiet and blinds keep the room nice and dark at night. TVs have lots of options for entertainment including games and Netflix. The breakfast is fantastic. Not your typical hotel breakfast. It’s close to everything you need also.

Overall a great experience and will definitely be back. Thank you for such a great experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone travelling or needing somewhere to stay. It’s worth every penny.

We had a wonderful experience! Amar was attentive and his customer service was excellent. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable.
We had extra pizza left over from our team meal and they were gracious enough to leave all the pizzas in their staff fridge overnight. We will be back!

Terrible service!!! Booked a room on our way to Strathcona, since we were too tired to set up camp. After booking the room on the hotel website we went for dinner close to the Holiday Inn. After 1hour at 8pm we got a call that they had a double booking so they gave up our room and we didn't have a place to stay anymore! Just like that!! Very disappointed and will never recommend this hotel!!! Worst service
