We checked in on Friday September 30th 2022 and checked out Saturday Oct 1 2022.

We were given the last room in the hotel that night (2 Queen beds Non Smoking) Room 311, when we entered 311 there was a strong smoke smell in the non smoking room, which we found out later was in the bathroom. Both my parents and I are sensitive to cigarette smoke. My mom called the front desk and asked to change rooms due to the cigarette smoke smell but since the hotel was full that night there was no other rooms available to change to. The front desk lady came up and confirmed the strong smoke smell in that room. Other than the smoke smell we liked the layout of the room.

My parents and I loved the pool and waterslide, we want the manager on duty to look at 311 this week (the bathroom)and confirm that 311 was previously smoked in by other guests. Or was it the room below us (211? and came up through the bathroom fan?

There is a no smoking sign on the 311 door. We will return next year and hope to get a smoke free room when we return. The cleaning fee for smoking in a non smoking room is $500.

we paid for $160 for 1 night, we want a discounted rate for the smoke smell in our room as we were unable to change rooms due to the hotel being fully booked and had to deal with the strong snoke smell the entire night and following morning every time we entered our room which was unpleasant.

Upon entering the hotel, the high ceiling and deep wood colours gave off a welcoming feeling. The women at the front counter were friendly and efficient while checking us in. as the Super 8 Hotel is right next to a Safeway, my partner and I went and got some food to bring back to our room. The room itself was simple, as most hotel rooms are, and very comfortable. We had a microwave, mini-fridge, and a little Keurig setup. Although the ceiling light at the door didn’t give off much to the rest of our room, the lamps provided gave a relaxing atmosphere.

We went to the pool after dinner and mostly sat in the hot tub (the jets were like a personal massage). We did also go down the spiral waterslide a couple of times; gotta keep the child in us alive, right?

There was a hiccup with breakfast the next morning. We went down around 8:35, having checked the day before that it closed at 9:30. The attendant had mistaken the time – a malfunction of the clock she was using – but after double-checking, she opened everything back up and all was good. I remember a few years ago, I was a breakfast attendant at a local hotel, I get how time burs together when working that early. Once everything was set, my partner made a waffle and I got my eggs, apple, and bread (I was blind to the toaster that I had no problem seeing the next morning), and we started eating. The food was fresh and, although the waffle maker almost outsmarted us (pre-coffee brain, oops) we enjoyed our meal.

Checkout was as easy as the rest of our stay, and I would recommend the Super 8 Hotel in Castlegar to anyone passing through.

Front Desk gal very pleasant. Room wasn’t ready when we arrived (early) at 12:30. She suggested we check out Millennium Park and come back in an hour. Park was amazing, so great for young kids. Came back 1.5 hours later and the room was ready for us to check in. Had room 324 which was a good size. Odd that the sink was separate from the bathroom and right beside a bed. Had a nice little balcony with seating for 4. As we’re in the middle of a global pandemic, I wiped down high touch surfaces with bleach spray before my husband and son entered the room. I was pleased to find the room was quite clean before I did my wipe down.
Pool area was great. I think the pool is saline? Very clean and appears to have been recently renovated - fresh paint, super clean tile, clear water. Lots of towels. Pool temp was comfortable. Very shallow, max 1 meter depth by the slide. Slide was closed because of Covid. Hot tub was comfortably hot. Showers in pool area took forever to heat up.
Beds were softer than we’re used to at home, but we all slept very well. Pillows are nice and big - good for propping yourself up and watching TV in bed. Toilet handle needed repair. We advised front desk. Patio was a nice, private spot to drink coffee in the morning. A/C worked well and not too noisy. Breakfast buffet was standard continental fare - cereals, oatmeal, toast, bagels, apples, oranges, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea, apple and orange juice. They did have a make your own waffle station.
We were very pleased.

A friend and I stayed at the Super 8 in Castlegar to help round out our mini Canadian road trip through the Rocky Mountains! It had been a magical trip. We thought this hotel looked fun because of the water slide and the themed rooms! When we got there we were sure we hit the jackpot because there was no one else in the water slide! We played in there for about an hour(as it closed an hour after we got there), took some photos around the hotel with the super cool backgrounds then we went to bed as we had a super early morning heading back to whistler! We woke up, freshened up grabbed the continental breakfast then we were on our way. A couple days after we finished the trip we were looking into our damage deposits and most said they would be refunded within a few more days. Super 8 however had charged us 3 separate times adding up to over 700$ for one night in a standard room! We had one charge from Snap travel whom we booked the room through, one 97$ charge and one 500$ charge!!! We called the hotel and we were told it was a smoking charge for smoking in the room! We were told there were 5 witnesses and photos of ashes in the windowsill. Now my friend and I are on our 30s and know better then to smoke in our hotel rooms. So we called them again to sort this out. We were told there was no manager on at the moment and she would send us the photos and call us back. We tried multiple times throughout the past 4 days to reach this manager. We’ve called visa and the rcmp to help but no one seems to want to. We found out they charged a family the same way whom had small children in the room! I’m scared they are doing this to others! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

We booked a group of high school girls and chaperones to stay at the Super 8 Hotel in Castlegar. They were coming to Castlegar from Nanaimo on Vancouver Island for a provincial volleyball tournament, in which the team is currently sitting at number 1 in the whole province for their division. Unfortunately travel costs were a factor, so a parent graciously donated his travel reward points to pay for all the rooms, which were unknowingly non-refundable rooms. Due to the recent storms and flooding in BC, the road closures caused the tournament to be rescheduled for one week. This hotel would not work with our group AT ALL to reschedule the room bookings, even though we provided them with more than 48 hours notice. We made multiple attempts to try to speak to the manager at this location, yet they were always too busy to speak with us and never returned any of our calls. Now there is a group of 16-year old girls who have worked so hard for the past few years to make it to the provincials, and now may not be able to go due to the hotel not willing to work with us to change the booking. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED!!! 🙁

I booked a theme room for my daughter's birthday party with the plan of having the kids enjoy the pool and water slide (the only reason we booked this hotel). I found out when I contacted the hotel 2 days before the party that the waterslide had been closed for maintenance for several weeks. No one at the hotel had reached out to let me know. I asked to speak to the hotel manager to see about a reduced rate for the room, but she was not available until the following week. We proceeded with the party as it was too late to change plans. I called and sent 2 follow up emails to the hotel to request a partial refund for the room as we had to incur a bunch of unexpected and unplanned expenses as a result of this. I never received a response. It was really disappointing for my daughter as she had wanted a party at this location for several years.

On a more positive note, the room was super cool and had 6 bunk beds. Although the cutlery and kitchen supplies were definitely lacking...

Would highly recommend anyone planning on having a party here confirming that the facilities were open, as the hotel did not take any initiative to let me know.

We were charged almost $400 for the Spider-Man theme room we stayed in which was pretty neat. We had specifically changed our plans to stop at this hotel because it looked like it had a great pool and waterslide. Oh how we were wrong. The room was not ready an hour after check in. The pool was dirty, damaged and the waterslide was not working. There was a garden hose up to it. The towels had stains all over them. The fire alarm went off because apparently there’s a sensor on the 3rd floor that triggers it when it’s hot. We had a suite with a kitchenette but there were no dishes to cook with. The beds were very uncomfortable. At breakfast, our children ages 11, 13, 15 & 17 were not allowed to serve themselves and had to be seated while we served them or sent back to the room to eat. It was the most disappointing hotel we have ever been in in our travels across Canada. There’s a Ramada Inn across the street, stay there instead.

My family and I have stayed in this hotel for many years. We stayed here before the pool was ready to be used and were one of the first families to stay in the Sea World Theme room. We are a swim team family and look forward to the Castlegar swim meet every summer and one of the biggest reasons has always been the Super 8!
My stay this last weekend, Friday & Saturday night were the absolute worst nights I have ever had at this hotel and honestly one of my worst experiences in any hotel. My list of concerns and disappointments are as follows:
1. When entering the room it smelled stale and dirty. I figured we just needed to get the air conditioning going and that would help. It did help, but I could still smell the stale odor.
2. The air conditioner rattled and was so loud! During the day and all through the night. We finally tried setting a chair next to the edge of the unit which helped a little.
3. The towel bar was off the brackets and leaning against the wall behind the garbage can.
4. We had NO sample soap, shampoo, etc.
5. We had NO coffee pods for the coffee maker.
6. My daughter’s water bottle that she set on the floor next to her bed was covered in animal hair when she picked it up.
7. We had no washcloths.
8. No one checked our room Saturday morning, we had no fresh towels and still no other supplies for the coffee maker or soaps/shampoo etc.
9. On Saturday after the swim meet I took my daughter to the pool to play on the water slide. When we walked in the whole room stunk of stale, stagnate water. I was a little concerned about her being okay swimming in that water. I generally would smell some type of cleansing chemical, but not that day. I only got in the pool a bit past my knees because of the smell and my unsettled feeling. My daughter however played and went down the slide probably a dozen times. She commented about all the brown stains on the slide and panicked when she accidently swallowed some water. Her panic was well founded as she spent the remainder of her evening with a stomach ache and feelings of throwing up. The whole night was miserable!
Your office staff were SO accommodating and kind! They were helpful and able to answer all my questions and address some of my concerns.

Excellent venue for a birthday party weekend, the Black Rooster was fully staffed for what looked like a very busy night, packed house, but the food and service was excellent. Wait staff was extremely at ease with the number of people who were in the restaurant. The Super 8 rooms for the Harry Potter Theme room was EXCELLENT the kids had such a great time, and the access to the pool couldn't have been better. Extremely thankful for these accommodations, and the kids had such a great time. Would do it again in a heart beat.

Booked online to enjoy pool & slides with my kids. Arrived day of reservation and was told the pool was closed. Front desk could not cancel my reservations - I would be charged full price whether I stayed or didn’t stay. Also, front desk told me I was over charged for the room.
