This is a perfect pit stop if you want a place to stay that has an ocean view, quick access to downtown, and is clean and has everything you need. Although there is no AC the ocean breeze and fan provided will do the trick.

The gentleman who checked us in was pleasant and friendly. Absolutely no issues with this hotel and would / will stay again for the bargain deal!

I expected motel type or quality but the ground level room I got was surprisingly comfortable for a motel. Room was big enough with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Bathroom was clean and wifi worked well. The biggest surprise was the bed as it was really comfortable along with the comforter and pillows. Had really good sleeps there. Only reason why I did not rate this place top marks was because of the lack of any free breakfasts which many places now do have. Otherwise I would totally recommend staying here especially for the rates they offer.

Big Rock Motel is a great little motel to stay in when in Campbell River. The motel is older and a bit dated but the price reflects that.

The rooms are clean and bathrooms are just fine. The room had two queen beds and a desk, fridge and microwave. The staff was very accommodating.

This motel has two floor and is located about 5-7 min drive from down town Campbell River. There is a nice walk way along the water front.

Wi-Fi was good. The TV is an older one and not a flat screen.

Hope that helps.

BED BUGS!!! Took them home, complete nightmare. Called owner and he hung up on me when I mentioned bed bugs so definitely still infested. Even killed a bed bug IN the room.

This is the best way to kill a vacation.

BEWARE!

Very basic motel. No hair dryer. Very sparse and prison like rooms with cinder block walls. Right on the island highway through town so it’s busy and lots of traffic noise. Nice views from second floor suites. We didn’t feel terribly safe at this location either. Seemed a little sketchy. Cheap, basic accommodations for one night I suppose.

I stayed here two nights in late August and am looking forward to coming back for another stay. Highway 19A runs in front of the motel, which is a few miles south of the center of town, and has fair amount of traffic but I did not notice noise from this waterfront road. I was on the second level which gives you views out over roadway and onto the Discovery Passage. Very pleasant setting and view. This property has been recently refurbished because my room with two queen beds was very nicely finished, and reasonably priced. I found Campbell River to be a wonderful place to visit. There is a vibrant waterfront stretched out along Discovery Passage with marinas, restaurants, and a pedestrian walkway that must go nearly 10 miles out of town along the water. It was fun to see the steady parade of people using this pathway at all hours of the day. The management was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed my stay very much.

We stayed 2 nights at the Big Rock Motel and found it was a gem in the rough. The room was spacious and clean. The rates are half the price (or less) than the hotels/motels right in Campbell River .. this little gem is about 5 or 10 minutes south. The location is perfect and the views are beautiful being directly across the road from the Discovery Passage. We saw the cruise ships, eagles, seals and loads of enthusiastic fishermen bringing in their prized salmon. It may not have all the bells n'whistles, but the owners are friendly & helpful and supply coffee in the office for when you wake up. No restaurant or pool but the value is perfect for the proximity to Campbell River & the Island Hwy.

took a chance based on reviews that this place would be okay. too close to the highway, quite loud, and no A/C on a hot day. bummer! the only bright spot is that at least we didn't pay much for it. free wifi was nice, and free phone calls to anywhere in north america. the counter guy was friendly enough, but it was not what we needed and left one of us quite cranky.

Very clean and well cared for motel. The staff are super friendly. The only downsides are the beds are terribly hard and the walls are very thin, but luckily absolutely no noise heard from other vacationers. Check on the little coffee hut on the beach just north of motel on the waterfront. Cool place where you make your own waffles. Really nice people here too.

I stayed one night in the Big Rock Motel. The stuff was friendly. The room and especially the bathroom were spacious and clean. The Motel is on the busy ocean drive route and there is a lot of traffic noise during the day. In the evening and during the night, the traffic calms down and it gets quiet.
