This is a great value choice motel with fabulous views from the upper floor rooms We saw dolphins, seals and eagles from the room (take some binoculars) The motel is a bit tired, needs some modernising, but it is clean and comfortable and great value with 2 bedrooms and a well equipped kitchenette Parking is easy (ignore the reviews that say it’s difficult unless you have a massive truck) Walking distance to the pier and city shops and restaurants in about 10-15 mins Overall, a decent choice and we’d stay here again
I stayed here for 1 night, and it wasn't long enough! Upon arrival it looks a bit rough but the views, cleanliness and exceptional service made up for it. I am extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness and there honestly was not a thing in my room to fuss about. Its about a 20 min walk to restaurants, but again the views on the walk are pretty nice as well. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating as I had some issues on my end when booking. They were also very helpful when I needed info about the city. I will stay here again and I definitely would recommend this place as well.
The motel is at the edge of Campbell River and at the highway - so it was good for our way and the overnight on the way to the north. 10 minute walk to the harbour but to a choice of restaurants seemed a bit too far to walk. The rooms are basic but the furnishing was quite new and comfortable with a marvellous view to the water. Price-value was ok for us and a safe check-in procedure in Corona-times. So, it was a good choice for our travel needs.
Neat and modest rooms which are convenient and functional. Some noise from the road but that has to be expected being directly off a major roadway. Views directly over the water from a small balcony are also a nice added bonus.
This is your typical Canadian motel. Clean and functional. All rooms have an ocean view and the morning sun is quite nice. Quiet even though it’s right on the highway, since most of the windows are facing the ocean. Not necessarily somewhere I’d book for a vacation but perfectly fine for a couple nights on the way through town. Check in was open late for people on evening ferries.
Clean, modest suites. Older but the place we had was updated and met all of ours needs. Loved enjoying morning tea and a book each day and ending it with a cocktail and sunset. It is located right on the road and the parking lot is a little tight but you don't' notice the traffic noise out back on your own deck.
Way over priced. Other guests that I met were used car salesmen and bikers. It is on the highway, so very noisy. Many vehicles in the lot were oversized pickups. If that is your style, then this motel is for you. If not, AVOID IT! One rating that I saw said that is was good for single travelers--not so. The windows don't lock and the owner knows that; told me not to worry because the area is safe (on the highway with windows that can be lifted out-safe?). A sign in the kitchen says to wash your own dishes--seriously, don't you want service from a motel? There is a line inside the door to tell you not to wear shoes beyond that point. The building is old but the rooms have been painted, but look at the paint that spilled onto the baseboards--not a very professional job. The building on the outside looks like it should be demolished. The owner charged me twice what the booking service had quoted and then yelled at me when I questioned that. There is a bright light outside the window to the bedroom, so the room remains light all night long. The recycle bin was right outside my window, so I woke up each time someone threw cans in. My advice is to find a better place to stay.…
May 2021 - Stayed in room 22 which was at ground level & we were able to park right in front of the unit which was convenient. Myself, son & his wife shared the 1 bdrm unit with a queen bed in the bdrm and a second queen bed in the main living area. Room was stifling hot when we entered (heated by a central furnace (not electric baseboard so no control over heat). It was a lovely warm day so the furnace shouldn't have been on. No air conditioning but had a couple of fans available. First time I've stayed in a room with red & white striped tape across the floor so you didn't wear your shoes past the tape into the unit. Floors were vinyl plank or laminate so easy to sweep up. Check in was fast and efficient & done from outside the office. Only given one room key (not offered a 2nd one). The view from the room was lovely with a deck, small table & 3 chairs. The floor of the deck could have been swept/vacuumed and the furniture wiped down (not dirty but definitely dusty). The kitchen was fairly well stocked, except for the salt shaker. There was a small hardened bit at the bottom which was unusable. Wifi was available but no cable TV. They had a smart TV so would have to use your own password (if you have Netflix, etc.) which I didn't have. Room had been booked in advance with 3 adults but they only had 2 sets of towels in the unit. Cleanliness seemed okay but don't think I'd stay there on my next visit. We visited Myra Falls, Lupin Falls & Elk Falls and would highly recommend all of them. Lots to see and do around Campbell River.…
The place itself is not quite like the pictures, it appears the outdoor spaces needed some upkeep. There was a nice view from our balcony and that was about all I’d say. The space was modest and nothing special, but did the job for a one night stopover. The thing that concerns me is that my card was charged before we arrived, when my booking was a “book now, pay later”. Additionally, when I reserved the property, I know it was listed at about 75$ cheaper then what I was charged, but when I went back to look at the booking, the price had changed on my booking site for what I had owed, but the current listing for the property was the price I originally reserved at, which was almost half the cost I was charged. Since my card was already charged and I had no proof of the original booking listed price, I let it slide. I travel a lot and book with the same engine and this has never happened to me before and will be contacting them. I definitely wouldn’t have booked this place at the rate I was charged considering the state of the property, when I initially thought it to be nothing more than a good deal. I’d advise to book elsewhere due to my concerns on the practices around billing/charging.…
Good location, great view, small room but nice enough, clean, fridge, microwave, great wifi, bed a bit soft for my taste but my wife was happy, no aircon but a good fan and with the door to the (small) balcony open cool enough on a 27 C evening. Parking lot is TIGHT. Park at the end where you drive in, or be prepared to make five back and forths to get out, and that's in a Toyota. My real complain was the rate. My wife booked the room and paid $120. When I logged in to write this review the Trip Advisor price was $86. If I were you, I'd lock in the price. The alternative is that $86 is for a room very different from ours, but ours had a sea view and two twin beds, and I'm pretty sure that all units have a view.
