With the exception of the friendly enough owner, this motel was a disaster. Do not stay here if sleep is something you think you might want to do. I was sandwiched between a domestic dispute about beer money, a t.v. so loud I could watch the show without being in the room, and a whining toddler up way past his bed time. My room smelled strongly of cigarettes too, and any time I opened the door to get some fresh air, people's cigarette smoke from outside wafted in. Basically, it was like being in a trashy bowling alley circa 1970 where nobody sleeps and only the loudest people survive.

Kind of seedy entrance. The room had smoke stench, even though a notice behind the door said strictly’no smoking’. Bad insulation. Could hear all conversations in the neighbouring rooms and noise from the road. Cleanliness in the kitchenette area suspect.
Clean bed and towels, for which we are thankful.

We been here one single night on our way to Port Hardy. The staff is very kind and the motel has a good view of the sea, but is very old and a little bit hot. At the end is ok to stay one night because the price is good.

I can't understand why people are giving negative reviews! Perhaps meeting with the owners, and getting off on the wrong foot?

I was trapped in Campbell River with my friend's dog, while my friend was stuck on Quadra. The ferries were shut down from the big storm, and my tiny car was being blown all over the road.
Instead of driving back to Victoria in a giant windstorm, or sleeping in my car, I searched out less-pricey hotels.

This place was clean, the owners/operators were sweet and friendly, and it was close to the ferries. The beds were very comfortable, and I got to nerd-out with the owners about languages! So fun! They also didn't judge me by my looks/car/dog, which is aces in my book!

If you're looking for an affordable, clean, kind place to stay in C.R., look no further! I'm glad I decided on a whim to pull in there.

After using this hotel for several months for my construction employees the service has changed for the worse. I will never stay again. Promised to hold a room for the night and given away instead. When asking what happened? Response. “Full now”. Asking about a former employee, Bonnie, I have been working with over the past few months for reservations. The mans response “she gone, don’t need that employee anymore”. In summary, the hotel was sub par before. Nothin special but fine for temporary workers. With this service I never recommend anybody stay here.

Hi everyone,

Let me tell you a tale... I rented a room for two guests on Thursday, August 23, 2018 for about $110. The owner / night manager completely misread a situation where two of my friends attended our room to check up on my guest who was resting at about 10:30PM. He ended up yelling at them to get off the property and busting down a locked and bolted door to wake up and kick out my guest. My friends and guest were compliant and left but the owner continued to chase them onto the adjacent property demanding return of the room key and threatening to call the police. We gave the key to him immediately and he advised we could return the following day for a refund.

I returned the next morning at about 9AM, very disappointed and advised I would like my refund for the room. The same guy was working. I assume he owns the place. English is obviously not his first language, and he's very difficult to understand. He advised sternly that I would not be getting a refund and that he was going to bill about $1000 in damages for the room - that he caused when he broke the door down - to my credit card. When I said that would be unacceptable and tantamount to theft, he stated he was going to call the police. I don't know if he actually did, but he advised someone on the phone that I was "threatening him at his place of business". Untrue. I left peacefully as I had other things to do besides dealing with this nonsense.

None of us are trouble makers, and the owner / manager's actions were completely uncalled for. There are plenty of hotels / motels in Campbell River that have treated me very well over the years. This was the worst experience I've ever had as a patron / guest. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I would give it a negative 5, if I could.

Best regards,

Johnny

My partner and I had a horrible experience here because the man who runs it attacked us verbally for having dogs when it is listed as pet friendly - long story short he kicked us out with nowhere to go late on a friday night saying he would refund us but then refused our refund at the last minute calling the cops on us when we requested our refund further. A long time later the rcmp showed up completely siding with us and making sure we had somewhere to go. This man is scary and aggressive - please don’t stay here.
He has still refused to give us a refund (we were in the room maybe a total of 2hrs). Have never had an experience like this staying in motels with dogs - the place is dirty and reeks of cigarettes to begin with. Our dogs are very calm and well behaved and we saw that this place provided pet friendly rooms listed several places so his aggression was extremely uncalled for. He could have simply explained the issue (that he hates dogs) and asked us to leave nicely / made sure we had somewhere else to go and given us a refund as promised. Scary scary man with bad anger issues.

Very affordable, clean and comfortable ...has all you need, even a little fridge, micro wave and a couple if burners. A bit noisy due to the closeness of the main road...but I had earplugs. A little coffee shop across the road, and a small Resturant and Bar next door . Owners were nice and friendly ...showed me the 2 bedroom suite...very cool and looks brand new

This is a 50+ year old motel on the Old Island Highway 5 km (3 miles) south of the downtown area right across from the ocean/sea walk and a very popular coffee shop. The rooms are small and basic but our second floor room was clean, bed was comfortable and it has a small kitchen area with fridge and stove. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to beer and wine store and a gas station/ convenience store. Our room faced the ocean so we got to see the cruise ships sail past around 11 PM most nights. Busy highway at times so sometimes you need to be patient heading north into town. They have a seniors rate, it's pet friendly, no breakfast and the parking lot is not large (although it has room for all guests) and there is Wi-Fi but I had a lot of issues with a rather weak signal most of the time.
