Detailed Reviews
We were especially impressed by all the hotel staff, especially their professionalism and friendliness. The front desk staff was professionally dressed, friendly and did everything expected to provide us with a pleasant stay. The room maintainers were equally friendly and capable. I note the dress of front desk staff, because we noted a striking difference when we later stayed at a (more expensive!) hotel in the US after our trip to BC.
The breakfast buffet was the best we've experienced in many years. It included lots of healthy fare like freshly prepared oatmeal, and fresh fruit.
The best part of the room was the hotel's location because across the street is a mass transit train that provides very frequent and reasonably priced access to downtown Vancouver. The room itself was very comfortable, but not exceptional.
Another notable feature is that practically everyone we interacted with during our BC trip was friendly and helpful, another big contrast with US travel!

Having searched extensively for a hotel in the Vancouver area, this one came up as both good value, a safe district and very convenient for transport being directly opposite the Skytrain station. Front desk staff were extremely good and welcoming. My room was of a good standard. King size bed, desk. Coffee machine, fridge and microwave. Selection of coffee was a good standard with small containers of cream as opposed to powered whitener. Only thing perhaps missing and would have been a nice extra was a sofa or armchair. Bathroom was in good condition and pleased to see dispensers for hand soap, shower gel, shampoo etc. Only gripe about the room facilities was a slightly noisy air con unit fixed to the wall. TV and WiFi worked well. I made use of the self service coin operated laundry. $2 for detergent and $2 for a 45 minutes wash and same for the dryer. My biggest dislike was the breakfast. Service was good and food average but using paper plates and worse still, wooden cutlery degrades it enormously. Having used Holiday Inn Express hotels in cites in Europe, breakfast buffet would have proper crockery, metal cutlery etc.

This hotel has many qualities. It is located opposite a skytrain station but yet very quiet, the rooms and common areas are spotless, the beds really comfortable, the staff always helpful and the breakfasts (buffet and included) varied and delicious. However, we found the room expensive but... Vancouver is Vancouver.

Holiday Inns are usually not that great in Vancouver, but this is probably the nicest one. The location is certainly very convenient, right across from the Metrotown SkyTrain station, and attached to Station Square. It seems quite clean. There's a dining area. Complimentary breakfast is quite nice with good selection of items. It even has complimentary parking which is quite amazing for this location. The rooms are spacious enough and comfortable.

The customer service is absolutely horrible. I was kicked out of my room due to a separate booking, and they "lied" and said I refused to pay an extra $10 on a $300 plus room to stay in a room beside the skytrain, which was noisy. Do not stay there! They have lost my business as I was a long time customer of Holiday Inn, decades..no f....ing more.

Dear 397gl, I have read your comments including the email you sent me and I also viewed the various reports my team left me and the log entries on your reservations. What I found is that you had 2 different reservations for 2 different room types on 2 different nights. On arrival my team upgraded your 1st night to our top floor free of charge but advised you that the top floor was not available for your second reservation and that you would have to move the next day. My team also mentioned that if a room on the top floor did become available, you could obtain it for our usual price which was $10.00 more than you had reserved at. At that time, you wanted to talk to another manager because you thought you shouldn't have to pay the $10.00 more. To me that is a refusal. On the day you were to switch rooms, you left the hotel without talking with us and then were unavailable until late in the afternoon after both check out time and check in time. This put us in the situation that the guest that reserved and paid for a top floor room would have to be disappointed because you were still occupying the room. Fair enough that you thought you shouldn't pay our going price for the room you wanted to stay in. Fair enough for us to refuse that. In the end, you got an upgrade free of charge on your first day and were given the exact room you reserved on your second day. Sorry to hear that you think that is absolutely horrible customer service. Regards, Scott Johnson General Manager

Stayed for 1 night, June 29th. Room was clean. Personnel was fantastic. Breakfast was very good. Disappointing part - TV in our room didn't work. A technician came once, spent half an hour trying to fix it, failed. Left, came back after half an hour, spent another half an hour - failed again. Both times we were requested to leave the room so that he could be there alone. As I was on crutches after the surgery, it wasn't an easy thing to do. After 2 failed attempts the TV still didn't work. We were offered to move to another room, but again, as I was on crutches, it wasn't easy, so we stayed in the same room. We were given a "compensation" for the inconvenience in a form of a Tim Hortons card.

We were generally happy with this hotel’s large rooms, unbelievably convenient location and public transport options. However it was almost inconceivable that a hotel of this size, which lists “guest laundry” among its amenities, has just ONE washing machine and one dryer. Access hours to the laundry are very limited too. It was extremely difficult to get any washing done. Other than this, we found it to be a good place to stay and would recommend.

We are in that hotel right now and let me tell you it is very noisy. Our room is on the 4th floor and is supposed to be a city view but it is facing the skytrain station. The trains are coming every 90 seconds or so and noisy. I paid with my points which costs me 84,376 which is $843.76 for 2 nights. At that price I would have expected a not so noisy room. I am not impressed to say the least. When you look at the hotel picture online interestingly enough the skytrain is not visible. Ɓeing from out of town we just didn't know about the skytrain.

The hotel is simply unbeatable: the location, the breakfast, the common areas, but the best thing is the staff, all willing to help you and answer your questions in the best possible way, without distinction they all deserve my gratitude.
The perfectly maintained facilities; The very delicious foods and the heated pool are a plus. The fact that we are connected to the second largest shopping center in Vancouver makes it an excellent choice, and having the Metro just steps from the hotel allows you to get around quickly and economically.
I highly recommend it, you will not regret choosing it for your vacation.

My second stay was a horrific experience. Guest service was totally incapable of taking care of guests immediate needs. Receiving poor instruction and information was just the beginning. AC was loud waking us up throughout the night. We will not stay there again.

We did not use the pool just call the front desk. The staff is very helpful. Will be staying there next Fall.
I am a HI member no deposit required. Paid on departure
Just tell the waitress. They should accommodate you.
Yes. It's actually HDMI input.
They were working on the Skytrain Station (above ground subway) which is directly across the street from the hotel. We did not hear any noise during our stay. I would advise you to call the hotel and ask their opinion as they are there every day and would likely give you a straight answer.
The hotel is located in Metrotown which is basically a huge mall with surrounding businesses/apartment buildings etc, a mini-city, so there is associated noise. The higher you stay the less noise. As for the room difference, I would hope the executive rooms are larger and more updated than the standard rooms, but again I would ask the staff. The hotel is great but older.
