Not my choice to stay here, as it's the required property to stay when participating in a youth hockey tournament. The suites are nice with extra room, and the hotel has ballrooms and many other amenities we wouldn't use as it's also a convention center hotel. That said, I'll list my pros and cons. Pros: kitchenettes and a separate sitting room, comfy beds, efficient housekeeping, good location near Vancouver without being in the city, lots of food nearby (and restaurant on premesis), free parking (was for us but they might normally charge). Cons: tight bathroom, yellow condensation dripping from ceiling over tub (moisture issue even with bathroom fan on), although hotel updated several years ago there's no consistency with what they upgraded (new bathroom sink but 1970s shower faucet) or even finished the updating process (replaced headboards but didn't fix ripped off wall brackets. see pics), breakfast not included (standard with many chains today even at a lower nightly price). As the previous reviewer noted, it looks like a youth hockey camp, and believe me, we'd rather not stay here either.

3.5 out of 5 stars
The hotel website had FALSELY ADVERTISED and I quote 'Conveniences include laptop-compatible safes and desks, as well as phones with free local calls'. When we left we were charged for local phone calls, which were stated in the website as free, and the hotel desk attendance refused to reverse the charge.
I followed this issue with couple emails, the hotel denied that could not find the itinerary#, conformation#, name, email, travel booking etc, even after I had supplied these information. Therefor the hotel stay left me a bitter experience.

This hotel has certainly deteriorated since we stayed in it last. I requested a quiet room away from the elevator and on the opposite side of the Skytrain (north facing). Well, they obviously don't read customer requests as we were put in room 310 beside the elevator and facing the Skytrain! Upon complaint, they moved us to room 301, which was fine. While registering, a half dozen preteens went whopping through the lobby running up the stairwell. Another group ran down the hall. Well, we thought this might just be temporary. Surely the manager (or the adult supervisors) would stop them. The Front Desk man said "I've asked them to be quiet several times now." To which I told him to talk to their parents/supervisors; not the kids! Up on our third floor, another "Charlie Brown" mob of kids were racing down the hallway. A lady opened her door to the noise and asked us what was going on? I referred her to the Front Desk. One of the employees at the hotel told us that "This goes on all the time (referring to the kids)." When we checked out, there was a group of kids playing hockey in the lobby!!! The following are some of my Pros and Cons on the hotel:
Pros:
-large rooms; big fridge; comfy bed and pillows; housekeeping cleaned room quite quickly, but there was a musky wash cloth smell; good shower pressure; friendly restaurant staff.
Cons:
-see above; Front Desk button on phone goes directly to Richmond Executive Inn; appeared that Front Desk staff didn't know proper protocol in handling noise complaints; Happy Hour was not as advertised. It was only 1/2 long! The breakfast buffet was only so-so and the hash browns were cold.
The ONLY reason I gave this a two star rating and not a one star rating was because the rooms were nice.

Location is convenient. There are restaurants, groceries, pharmacies, mall, bus stops, and metro stations within walking distance. The hotel has a restaurant with a good deal on happy hour. The rooms appear clean enough.
We stayed in a two queen bed room which had a balcony with two chairs. That is handy. The bed was a little too soft. Rooms do not have central air but an air conditioner unit. Our bed was right next to the air conditioner. It was uncomfortable to sleep with the air blowing right at you and the noise from the air conditioner.
The elevator only fits four people with their luggage. There is only one elevator for guests. It is small. I felt uncomfortable when other guests not wearing masks would get on the elevator with us. The front desk and a lot of the staff were not wearing masks either. At least the restaurant servers were wearing mouth shields. 🤷♂️

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and taking time to review Executive Hotel Burnaby on trip advisor. We are pleased to receive your comments and a detailed feedback about your overall experience. Yes, the hotel is situated at very prominent location making is very convenient for guests to access retail stores as well as connectivity across the city through Translink. I sincerely apologize for your unpleasant experience concerning the communication during check-in procedures. I have taken note of your feedback; however, there is not much we can do about the layout of the rooms and amenities fixture. The elevators are small there fore during covid we recommend only 2 guests at a time. In past month with covid regulations easing out, masks were recommended to staff and guests but not compulsory considering all of the staff is vaccinated; but now province has again made masks mandatory and all our staff is strictly monitored to wear mask and cover face at all times irrespective of weather in public area or not. We request you to treat this as an aberration to our service standards and hope to welcome you back to Executive Suites in the future. Kind Regards, Parijat Gupta Marketing Manager

We stayed there for 2 days on our getaway trip and I must say that everything was excellent. The location of the hotel was so convenient for us to explore the destinations we had in our itinerary. Room was so comfortable and clean. The best part was the Aqua restaurant and their patio with amazing food so we didn't have to go anywhere else after a long day exploring outside. Food was great and the ambiance was welcoming with great customer service. I would highly recommend this hotel to others. Thank you for great stay guys!!

+1
This was not the first time I was at the Executive Hotel in Burnaby. But on the weekend of December 8th the date was supposed to have been special. It was the birthday’s special person for me.
After booking using a discount coupon, I noticed that I did not receive my booking confirmation email. I ended up calling days before hosting to confirm. On the phone an attendant I did not find friendly enough just threw the information that there was no name on the reservation and if I did not have the same booking credit card, could not stay. Something that sounded rude to me.
Unfortunately at the time of check in, the same phone receptionist was the one who checked us in. He said I would not have completed the registration correctly, but soon released the room keys without any problems. There was no contact between nice guest and staff, like my first hosting.
Already in the room, I was delighted with the size of the room, but disappointed that there was no extra care with our reservation. Through the Executivehotels.net site I sent a message with name, reservation number and a brief text about our moment with you, hoping that maybe there would be a special return to our accommodation.
The room had part of the floor completely ugly and in need of repair. It didn't look like we were in a hotel room with the Executive brand. In fact, I have never seen a hotel room floor in this state!
I noticed that under the sink was a used SWAB. In the toilet bowl long hair next to the lid.
I was disappointed with my experience with you. In the morning at check out the receptionist was a real professional and listened to us very carefully. She offered us breakfast, but we rejected the invitation.
I really hope that experiences like this do not happen again, as it ends up making the accommodation frustrating and reflecting on a bad reputation of the place.

Room was nicer than other hotels I’ve stayed in in the same area. I didn’t get to experience the restaurant or pool because of Covid, but they looked nice and sounded like they would’ve had good prices in the restaurant. Unfortunately having to pay $11 a day for parking when they have a huge lot is a joke. Parking for hotel guests should be included, as it is just about everywhere else.
