As the subject header notes the staff here are exemplary! The location is outstanding too as it has a grocery store, liquor store, (and cannabis store if that is your thing) right across the street. Within walking distance is the HUGE Metrotown Mall. We will definitely be back!
Front desk is very helpful, our room was on the 13th floor very quiet with a beautiful view of the mountains and surrounding building. Small kitchen with dishwasher and extra sink. Bathroom was very nice with large shower with handheld and rainfall shower heads. Free breakfast was probably better than any free breakfast I have ever seen in a hotel. Breakfast foods changed daily. Store for groceries across the street, and also a BC liquor store. Marketplace, the large mall is about a 10 minute walk and is also where you can catch the Sky Train and buses to get to the city. We enjoyed our stay here.
Relaxing stay. Easy location. We really enjoyed our stay. Having the mini kitchen was nice. The front desk staff was very welcoming. The breakfast area was very busy, Food was refreshed often and the tables were cleaned between each guest.
We stayed here for three weeks while our home was under repair. The insurance company paid, but we still felt the price was fair for what we got. That is, a modern, spacious room with a separate bedroom and storage everywhere. They brought us an extra table and chair so we could set up our computers. Kitchenette was satisfactory, especially with a good free breakfast and literally dozens of food options within a 10-minute walk. Bus at the door, skytrain an 8-minute walk. Hot tub good, laundry fine, fitness centre first class. Staff were very helpful. TV good, but weird with doubled channels (16-1, 16-2, etc.) NOTE there are three levels of internet: slow, really slow, and BC Ferries slow. The "fastest" one is $24/day and that just doesn't cut it these days. I have a low-end service at home (100 Mbps) and sometimes in the hotel I was speed-testing at 6 Mbps on the fastest service. Still, it was enough most of the time. We looked around quite a bit and are still convinced that this was the best long-stay option east of downtown. …
It was a convenient location & the building & room were modern & elegant but the cost was high for what wasn’t available. When we asked if there was a lounge where we could have alcohol the reception said yes but closed on Sunday! We were NOT told that there was a continental breakfast, apparently there was but it closes at 9 am. We had to pay extra $20 parking which we did not know about until we were checking in. Overall, we didn’t feel we got value for the $500/night (which was apparently a discounted rate for a wedding we attended). I wouldn’t stay here again, I didn’t feel like a valued guest, checkin staff were polite but came across as arrogant.
We recently stayed at this property before we departed on a cruise. As this was our first trip to Vancouver, we really had not preconceived expectations. We primarily chose this property based on our prior experience with Element hotels and the price. For the unfamiliar, the hotel is located in Burnaby, a large suburb of Vancouver -- although there really aren't any recognizable differences or transitions between Burnaby and Vancouver. The area around the hotel is populated with high-rise condos and apartments. The second-largest mall in Canada is located two blocks from the hotel. Lots of shopping for your extended stay, restaurants, or just plain-old shopping. I do recommend the food court at the mall -- lots and lots of choices (Thai, Dimsum, Japanese, Chinese, etc). Check-in was a breeze and the front desk staff took extra time to orient us to the hotel and the surrounding area. Any request we made was immediately fulfilled and the staff always seemed to be in good spirits. Our room was clean and appropriately sized. There is a half-size fridge in the room with a dedicated freezer, plus a two-burner stove and a few plates and other cooking implements to allow for the preparation of a simple meal. The beds were quite comfy. The only thing we didn't like is that while the room has blackout curtains, there is a lot of light leakage around the windows, which occupy about 75% of the exterior wall. While this rewarded us with a spectacular view of the nearby mountains, even with the blackout curtains, there was a lot of light leakage. Since sunrise in June is a little before 5am, this was a bit disruptive to our sleep. Bring a sleep mask if you are sensitive to light when you sleep. We had four in our room and it was a little tight. The room is almost square and there is furniture (or a window) on just about every wall. Not much room for luggage on the floor where it wasn't in the way. Next time, we'll get two rooms. The breakfast buffet is listed as "continental" but had warm food for all our meals. Breakfast sandwiches, eggs, sausage, and breakfast tacos were all on rotation during our stay. The breakfast staff, however, was exceptional. Honestly, one of the best, most friendly, helpful and interactive nutrition staff we have ever experienced at any hotel. Particularly noteworthy was Claire. On multiple occasions, she helped guests find the food they were looking for. One gentleman wanted a particular flavor of yogurt and she checked in the back for him. Each day, just before they took the buffet down at close, she circulated the dining room and notified everyone that the buffet was going to close. There is on-property laundry that costs CAD $2.25, and the desk was able to make change. There is a small, indoor swimming pool and hot tub -- however they are shared with the condominiums that occupy the upper part of the building. There is a small work out room. Parking is easy -- a three level, underground parking garage is easily accessible. The Vancouver Sky Train, rapid transit station, is two blocks away allowing you to get downtown in about 20 minutes. Overall, this was a great stay for our purposes. Will definitely consider this property on our next trip to Vancouver.…
Workstation: They provide a desk and chair but the desk has a glass top that allows you to see into the drawers, which looks nice, but I couldn't use a mouse at all without a mousepad or something else to cover. No ethernet plug except if you unplug the phone and slow wifi(more later). Room: The room was decently sized with small kitchen with stove, fridge, utensil, cups, plates, dishwasher, couch. Bed: Not super comfy like a pillow but not bad. Bathroom: Shower only. No tub. No individual shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Parking: $19 a night and you can park in basement level 1 and 3. It can gets pretty packed on weekends but not that bad during the weekday. Area: Lots of food places and grocery store within walking distance if you didn't drive. Breakfast: They provide free breakfast in the morning. Usually consist of coffee, 3 juices, fruit, cereal, 2 hot dish (1 vegetarian), bread/bagel/muffin, yogurt, hard boil eggs. I see a lot of people grab togo boxes for the food instead of eating there. Wifi: Slowest wifi I've ever seen for "High Speed Internet" that cost $13 if you're not a Marriott member. Max speed of 8Mb down/up. I feel like its shared across all your devices. Even plugging the ethernet from the room phone into my laptop and they cap it at 8 Mb down/up too. I tried calling them about it and they redirect you to someone offsite that can't do anything to increase it. Like 8Mb down, I can barely even stream a show and I have a tough time working with that speed so I ended up just taking the days off. I went to a random hot pot place and their wifi was at least 50Mb down. Final thoughts: Just because of the wifi I would not stay here again. If they actually had "High Speed Internet" I would book here again without a second thought.…
Overall it is a clean property with a good location that has access to different areas of the extended area of Vancouver (yes, you will need a car). We are a couple with a child that stayed a few nights during easter week. No upgrade was given due to lack of rooms and this happened last time we stayed as well so I guess this property don't give upgrades to points or certificate stayers. (yes, we both stayed using Bonvoy miles) The room should be the right size for a couple but not for a couple + a child. The pull-up sofa is not even fit. And the bedsheet on the pull-up sofa was not clean (found hair, cracker from previous visitors) Front desk seems nice but nothing really helps;so I would say it is ok. Parking, I saw. a review here that if you stay 2+ nights, we get complimentary parking but that does not apply to point stayers... I asked and heard that if you stay using your miles or certificate, that does not apply. The property has three elevators I think not enough. So if you have a room on a higher floor, it will take a long time to get down to the lobby. And the Easter weekend was busy with many families and kids... it was really loud everywhere... Free breakfast, pretty basic. Nothing fancy but still better than nothing. It will be a great choice for a couple, but not so great if you are party of 3+ (unless you get a suite). Front desk service can be improved (they do what they do... but no genuine interested in helping customers)…
Stayed here many times. This time booked a king suite with pull out. Room 608. Family of three. Arrived at 7pm to be told our room isn’t ready ? We waited and they comped 1nt parking. Great room. Clean. Nice balcony. Great view. With the pullout setup it was impossible to reach the bath without physically climbing into the sofa bed. This room is too small for a pullout sofa. Our friends stayed in 701. Huge room. No issues. When checking out I mentioned the space and was told sofa pullouts are new to this style room ?
Wow, what an awesome hotel stay! Excellent service, cleanliness and amenities. Our family loved the common spaces to hang out with friends, and the pool was a hit with the kids. The room we reserved had an issue so they changed our room and gave us a cheaper rate and free parking. We will definitely come back!
