For the price in peak tourist season you can't really complain! Convenient to everything, with a great restaurant attached. This place is old and structurally you can tell - ie wobbly uneven floors. The room we had could use a spruce up but the beds were comfortable, coffee in the room and a spotless washroom. Staff are friendly and easy going. Check in was quick and simple. Would stay again.

This was a budget friendly motel that was also guest friendly, well situated for road travelers and comfortable. Judging by the traffic parked at the restaurant each morning I think Whiffs must be a good breakfast spot but we didn't test the theory on this trip.

I’ve gone the last two summers and stayed here both times. I love the comfort of having the suites, and friendly staff with a great Waffle House attached. Gorgeous views of the Drumheller hills and dunes

The rooms were just what we expected for a budget motel, very basic. There were a few cosmetic issues but nothing that impacted our stay in anyway. Everything was visibly clean, but we had wipes and wiped down all of the high touch areas. The beds were very comfy. And the very generous size bar fridge was a great addition. The motel was quiet and we felt very safe. The on-site restaurant was amazing and was extremely busy with locals (which is always a good thing!). We travelled with a dog and there were no issues whatsoever, very pet friendly (offering us a dog blanket for our pooch. Remember, this isn’t the Hilton, it’s a motel, adjust your expectations and you won’t be disappointed.

The motel was just off the freeway. We were on our way to lake Louise and stopped one night to be able to see the dinosaur museum. It was the best decision. Friendly people. Great restaurant. Nice comfortable rooms with a kitchenette. Very good value for money. Totally recommend it.

We initially thought to check out the place prior for us booking our stay there and the receptionist were so nice even the owner Jay Lee. They let us show one room for us to take a look and see how their room looks like. Jay even give us a deal that if we book for at least 7 nights we get 1 free night free which you cannot see online. The place is easy to find using google map. When me and my husband decided to book, we just phone Jay and did our booking. At first we just book for few nights since I cannot have a longer leave at work but when my boss decided to allow me to have a longer leave, we phone Jay right away and he was able to still reserve our room for a longer period than what was initially booked which we appreciate a lot. We got a room close to the office and restaurant. The room is big enough for us to move around, kitchen area is cute, though the couch we have in our room seems needs replacement as you are somehow like seating on the floor and the tub is somehow slippery so need to be careful though they provide a rubber mat. The aircon location is somehow a bit loud and hard to get the right temperature and is near the tv so it is somehow difficult to watch tv when the AC is on. Wifi is not so strong, at times difficult to get wifi connection. The flooring in the sofa area needs to be fix as well as there are chip flooring. Cleaning sometimes you need to tell them that you want the room clean/vacuum even if you put the tag at your door as it seems tidying the room is just replenishing the toiletries and getting the garbage not fixing the beddings or do some vacuuming/sweeping the floor/carpet. Majority of the cleaners are nice and pleasant except for one instance that the cleaner told us that they are already done cleaning our side of the place so they said they have to clean it another day or we can do the cleaning as they are offering us the vacuum. Overall the place is good based on the price you pay, easy checkin/checkout, the accessibility of the location and the amenities included in your room. We would still come back and stay here.

Disliked · A series of things: lamp lightbulb was burned out and got replaced. Remote battery was dead and got replaced. No heat in the building yet and it was cold, so heater brought in. Linens had a very strong chemical smell. Carpet looked old and dirty - never went barefoot in room. Smoke alarm low battery chirping started midnight first night and 3 a.m. second night. Even though staff replaced battery after the first night, it still chirped in middle of second night and was probably a faulty old alarm. The owner would not compensate anything back even though I was kept awake both nights from something faulty in my room.

As long as you have your expectations on the right scale it is honestly not a bad place to stay for a night to explore the area. Check In process was easy and efficient considering the handwritten paperwork and receipt, an actual key given AND remote controls you have to return at check out. That felt like a time machine... that feeling continued when we entered the room 😊 I am not going to sugar coat it.. it is outdated beyond.. BUT! If you are looking at the possibility of booking this motel, you already know the unreasonable pricing in the area for accommodations that definitely do not deserve that price.. So, the Badlands motel provided us with what we needed: decent stay at a reasonable price, in a reasonably clean room. We knew our expectations and in that case, it was a decent alternative to stay AND mind your budget. We had clean comfy beds, shower (we did not have problems with water pressure or temperature as other reviewers mentioned), fridge, microwave, wi-fi and A/C). We had a good night rest without breaking the bank and off we went to explore further. 😉

The motel is centrally located (everything is). The staff are nice and give you an actual key for your room door (so retro) and remotes that you must return. The floors are uneven and possibly even with holes under the vinyl. The shower has the pressure of a dripping faucet and the window did not lock. The heavy curtains had duct tape to hold them closed but by doing so it covers the air conditioner so it is difficult to get air con if curtains closed (bring clothes pins to do a MacGyver move to create opening around curtains. The plastered holes in the walls have been painted so I guess that counts as renovation. We were there 1 night so it did its thing.

The kitchenette suite is very roomy and feels more like an apartment suite. The structure and furnishings are older but not an issue. Noises suggested some sketchy activity in the surrounding rooms while we visited. The major drawback was the lack of hot water in the shower. It started off warm (not hot) and very quickly becomes cold. Not sure why as both the bathroom and kitchen sinks had hot water at the exact same time. Throttling to save on cost or something wrong with the plumbing?
