my husband and myself stayed here last night. Room was fantastic but the staff overall were very under qualified. Chef was incredibly rude when I complained that my rib eye steak was overcooked and incredibly grey looking. He insisted it was cooked to a perfect medium. My husband has a porterhouse cooked perfectly . Very confusing. It took speaking to Emma in the end to get any resolution. Room 5 is also directly over the kitchen and very noisy until 1am. I really wouldn't recommend wasting your money here.
Staff slow and rude. Room in bad order. Plaster falling off the wall.lights flickered.floor tiles in bathroom cracked.wires hanging from back of tv. Food was amazing tho. Setting was lovely and was hot
We stayed for one night on 2 June. The receptionist was polite and welcoming. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The room had a fridge with milk and water (both still and sparkling) The grounds are amazing. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. Overall, would recommend this hotel.
We went out as a family of 4 and sat outside on the lovely terrace, the sun was shining and we had a lovely big table. Unfortunately, that is where the good comments end. We waited a while for the drinks menu, then a while more for the cocktail menu. The drinks arrived and my passion fruit martini was missing the prosecco shot. When pointed out to the female member of staff she said it would be taken from the bill. The starters were ok, then the main meal arrived. I had ordered a sirloin steak and so had my son. My steak did not taste at all like steak but like pork! Looking at the meat and the colour and texture and comparing it to my sons steak it was definitely the Pork tomahawk they had given me. I thought that maybe a mistake had been made and I was given a meal which should have gone to someone else. I advised the waiter and he took it back to be checked with the kitchen. He came back and said it was definitely sirloin and argued that I had made a mistake. I replied that I has definitely not made a mistake as I know the taste of pork to steak. They asked if I would like another one, I said yes please because it was an error. The rest of my family had finished their meal 20 minutes before mine arrived which ruined the family meal we had gone out for. I was advised that they would sort it out on the bill. When bringing out the bill the female member of staff said that she could not remove my meal from the bill because I ate the second one! She missed the point of customer service altogether. That they had made an error on my meal and I ended up eating my meal 20 minutes after my family had finished, the meal was ruined. We refused to pay for my meal and eventually it was removed. I was totally appalled by the service. I asked to speak to the manager and at no point did the manager come to talk to me.…
The hotel grounds are superb and impressive. We sat for a drink outside and then went into the restaurant for Sunday lunch. The starters and roast lunches were good. The tart and cheesecake that we ordered for dessert we’re not so good, both had soft bases rather than crunchy/short. The staff were all very nice friendly but I got the impression that the kitchen and bar held up service as drinks were slow in coming as were our starters.
