Villa #3 at Villa CAYO is to the jungle what Condos are to the beach. The air-conditioned, fully equipped, luxury boutique villa provide comfortable, affordable accommodations on a private 12 acre estate focused on ecotourism. Located just 1 1/2 mile from the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena with auto rentals, taxis and bus service easily available making this a perfect vacation destination. The villas are nestled on a terrace overlooking the Village of Cristo Rey Village and the Maya mountains. From the observation deck of the main villa you can see Spanish Lookout and the surrounding countryside. While on the roof veranda you could also be greeted by some of the 225 birds known to occupy the jungle canopy in the Cayo district. Particularly friendly you could be greeted by the Aricaris checking to see if you might have a papaya to share with them. At night the local kinkajou or coatamundi could be in the trees eating the seeds and nuts. Waking up to the jungle mist and the sounds of the chacalaca and parrots can be one of the greatest jungle experiences. The BBQ area is located on a hillside terrace under tall Salam trees that offer food to many of the birds and wildlife of our area. There is a conversation and observation deck available for all of our guests to use. The villas kitchens are fully equipped to allow cooking for special diets or to avoid the high cost of resort dining or local restaurants. There are baking sheets for roasted vegetables, crock pots for slow cooking and a BBQ area for grilling. This excellent location is close to most of the Maya sites, zip lines, caves and cave tubing. The friendly owners can help you arrange your adventure tours. They will strive to make your eco-adventures a safe and relaxed experience without any hidden charges.

Villa Cayo is the best place to stay in San Ignacio Belize. It is tucked away in the jungle with beautiful views all around. Virginia has done an amazing job creating a magical place that you truly have to see to Be-Leize!

We loved staying at Villa Cayo for our COVID-19 postponed honeymoon. Virginia and Ken were amazing hosts and were extremely accommodating and generous to my husband and I. We stayed in a hillside villa and the views were great. It was the perfect size, clean and comfortable, and had a full kitchen stocked with everything you'd need. We loved how quiet it was at Villa Cayo (except the nature sounds!), yet how close it was to downtown San Ignacio & Santa Elena. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you for everything Virginia and Ken!

I wish I could give Villa Cayo and Miss Virginia seventy-five stars! We stayed at Vila Cayo in February, and by the time we got back to the States, COVID had hit and the world turned upside down, so it’s been a long time coming to write this review. We stayed in Unit #4, one of the private units below the main house. It was perfect! Everything was new, and clean, and very well cared for. The villa was beautifully finished, the furnishings were top notch, the water was hot, and the AC did its job! The price was very reasonable, considering the high quality of the accommodations! The setting of Villa Cayo is spectacular. Located at the top of a hill, the views in the mornings and evenings of the countryside were peaceful and filled with birdsong. There is a ton of exciting and interesting things to do in and around San Ignacio, and Villa Cayo is a great place to base from. Make sure you hit the market, go out to Caracol, and venture into ATM Cave! The bus is an easy and inexpensive way to get to town. We hired a driver to take us to Caracol, suggested by Virginia, who turned out to be a real gem. Now, lets talk about the very best part of staying at Villa Cayo, Miss Virginia! I am hard pressed to think of any place we’ve ever stayed with a host as helpful, kind, knowledgable, and welcoming as Virginia. Her hospitality made our four night stay at Villa Cayo the highlight of nearly three weeks in Belize; what a wonderful person! We will stay again; and if you’re in San Ignacio, you’ll do yourself a real favor by staying at Villa Cayo!

Villa Cayo is an outstanding place to stay while visiting the San Ignacio area. Our villa was beautiful with a stunning view. The location is ideal, away from town and noise with a breathtaking view of the mountains. Virginia was wonderful with advice and suggestions and helping with the local excursions. The king sized bed was so comfortable and we thank Virginia and Ken for investing in such a great mattress! I highly recommend Villa Cayo and would stay there again in a heartbeat!
