We spent a great romantic weekend at the Woodview Inn in January 2023. We stayed in the Lady Margaret Suite. This is made up of a large bedroom including a comfortable king-sized bed and mini-fridge and an enormous bathroom which includes a jacuzzi tub. If you are looking at the Inn building, this suite is made up of the three windows on the second floor on the front of the main building. With the windows closed we heard no sound from outside the buildling. Everything was also very clean. The customer service was really outstanding. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by John and Steve who were fantastic and thoughtful hosts throughout our weekend. We had reserved supper at the in-house restaurant - Graydon's - the evening of our arrival and our hosts were very patient as we had to move our reservation time twice given we were late arriving due to a snowstorm in Ottawa. We had the Beef Tenderloin and Lamb Shank and both dishes were outstanding. We also enjoyed the Sunday brunch and the stuffed french toast was decadent (and amazong). What was another excellent feature of this place for us was the hosts preparing and placing a small cooler outside of our door each morning with a continental breakfast (sandwich, fruit, juice, yogurt and sparkling wine!) allowing us to relax in our room without having to go down to the restaurant for breakfast. The room also had complimentary bottled water and oatmeal cookies. It was a great stay from beginning to end and we will be back!…
Everything was as advertised. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. They were able to replace the down duvet with a synthetic duvet to accommodate my wife's allergy and still keep us cozy warm. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
John and Steve are the perfect Inn keepers. I wish we found them years ago. My wife and I have stayed at many Inns across Ontario as they are our preferred accommodation. This Inn stands with the best of them. We visit Gananoque three or four times a year and the Woodview Inn will now be our place to stay for every visit. I reluctantly give John and Steve a praising review as I'm afraid there will be no available rooms for my wife and I when I return (LOL). I would also like to mention that you should consider their dining room as a dinner option. Their dining room is aesthetically pleasing and their menu will please everyone at your table. It is popular with local residents and Inn guests alike.
This was our third visit to The Woodview in 2022 but being there during the holidays was magical. The decorating is so tasteful and beautiful that it gives the feeling of a fantasy Christmas. John and Steve, are incredible innkeepers but more importantly amazing people. The attention to detail and the personal touches made our stay all the more wonderful. We can’t say enough about Graydon’s restaurant in the Woodview. It is a small intimate setting and the meals are delicious. This time our choices were lamb and duck, both being exquisite. The touch of opening your door in the morning to find a cooler filled with goodies; croissants, muffins, yoghurt, champagne, orange juice is a lovely gesture. Its proximity to the 1000 Island Playhouse is great, so a musical and stay in 2023 is a must. It is without a doubt a true “gem” in Gananoque.…
Great hosts, spacious room, real attention to detail in the room and house appointments. Appreciated the bed-side connectivity with multiple accessible plugs and usb ports (I use a bedside medical device). The decoration for christmas was awesome. Bathroom was new. Breakfast came in a cooler and included the makings of mimosas. A carafe of coffee followed once we were up (in additon to room coffee). Only suggestions - a water conserving toilet - felt environmentally guilty each time I flushed, and an overnite ev charger (level 2 is fine). Public FLO level 3 chargers are available at two locations in town a few kilometers away.
We had a wonderfully quiet relaxing get away. The holiday decorations were amazing. Our stay was topped off with a fantastic meal in Graydon's Restaurant. Warm and friendly owners and staff. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
This was not my first visit to The Woodview Inn and every time is a welcome retreat. I went this time especially to see it decorated for Christmas and I was impressed with the warmth of the decorations. The food and hosts were wonderful and I will go back again soon. Thank you John, Stephen and The Woodview team
It requires special, thoughtful people to transform a three day stay into a memorable travel experience. John, Steve, and the staff at the The Woodview Inn did just that. The historic home, hospitality, and the location are all superb. We were fortunate that our visit coincided with magnificent fall foliage. Walking around town and driving through the countryside was amazingly beautiful. Dinner was exceptional, with great service. Will definitely recommend The Woodview Inn to friends visiting the area.
The hosts and their staff were amazing. The location is perfect. On a quiet street and a 10 minute walk to attractions, shopping and dining. They have a small quaint restaurant that serves dinner. The food was excellent. We stayed in one of the cottages. The room and bathroom were small. However, we had everything we needed and it was comfortable. They deliver an ice chest in the morning with your breakfast. You can take it to the dining room and eat it there. That was a disappointment. Having a warm breakfast in the restaurant would have been nice to have. Parking is on site. There is a full bar. However, there is no wine list and the wine they served was not good. The positives far out weigh the negatives and we would definitely stay here again.
This is an old home/inn, totally redone and updated. The interior finishes are fantastic, the detail is brilliant. The rooms are very comfortable with all modern amenities incl new windows. We had dinner in their restaurant and it was superb. My lamb shank was exceptional, my wife had a filet, perfectly cooked. The wine list is small but covers most palats. Great hosts.
