Chrysler House is a unique and beautiful Georgian-Victorian style inn. This 6800 sq ft house was built in 1826 for a local ship's merchant, Captain Chrysler, thereby being known as Chrysler House. The addition of an east wing and metal Mansard roof were completed in 1870, adding to the home’s charm.

Comfort, elegance, and charm. Stay in one of our six uniquely decorated rooms, and relax. All rooms retain their original vision and integrity. At 200 years of age, they evoke the past while also providing the modern comforts of a boutique hotel.

Chrysler House is located in the historical heart of Gananoque and the beautiful 1000 Islands. It is just minutes away from the waterfront, marina, boat line, beach, downtown shopping and restaurants.

A lot has changed since our last stay here in 2022, and most for the worse. For starters, the owners no longer serve any breakfast, and there is not even a cold biscuit or any self-serve coffee in the room or reception area. Second, there is no one to check you out or in -- it's all self-check in and out. And third, if something is wrong in your room, it's difficult and sometimes impossible to reach someone for help. For example, we arrived around 3:00 pm on a rainy and cold Saturday to find our room had no heat. It was so cold that we immediately try to turn on the ancient radiator heater on in the bedroom and the towel rack heater in the bathroom, and went next door to Riva Restaurant to warm up over a drink. When we got back at 4:00 the radiator in the bedroom was still producing just mininmal heat, and the bathroom none. So I called the number provided on an instruction sheet in hopes of getting some advice on how to get more heat from the radiators. I called again at 6:00 pm when no one had responded. I then called again at 7:00 pm before we left to go for dinner. When we got back at around 9:00 the room was still cold, so I called again and left a message pleading for a response. No one ever called back and we had a dreadful night's sleep feeling very cold most of the night. It's now almost 2 weeks since our stay at Chrysler House and we have still not received a return call or email to apologize for the lack of response or our lack of a good night's sleep. However, they did send us a copy of our bill! We mentioned our situation to a local couple we met, and they said the owners had recently opened a restaurant which was probably getting most of their attention instead of their Inn. Based on our experience, I would say that is the case.

We had a beautiful overnight to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Nathalie did all she possibly could to make us feel welcome and important as her guests. I was able to arrange Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries in our room for our arrival. The elegantly appointed home was so beautiful and comfortable. We stayed in the main floor suite “The Garden Room.” We had a separate entrance and access to the morning coffee bar and use of a mini fridge for our leftover dinner. The breakfast we ordered from Patrick, the co-host and resident chef was spectacular. He even shared the recipe with me!! We highly recommend this home as a retreat and escape. Even in Gananoque’s “off season” we enjoyed the history and beauty of this idyllic Ontario town, especially the welcome from Nathalie and Patrick.

This place is cozy, comfy, clean, and welcoming. My husband, daughter and I loved it! Especially the breakfast experience. It truly was an experience! The food was delicious, and delightfully presented. The dining room atmosphere was very welcoming - smooth jazz on the record player, lovely decor, lots of natural light coming in - perfection! Very happy we found this gem.

My wife, Jo, and I has the pleasure of staying at the Chrysler House B&B for one night on our way home from an East Coast vacation. We found our hostess, Nathalie, to be very friendly, welcoming and helpful on restaurant selection. Her partner, Pat, provided a fabulous breakfast for two which started our day off very well. Our room was a very good size with ensuite. We will definitely stay here on our next trip !

Strangely we never saw the owners, not sure who the young lady was who did greet us but she was nice. We stayed in the Garden Room which was fine, king bed and jetted tub. I was surprsed there was no TV, checked the listing and TVs aren't mentioned. Good thing I had my tablet with NETFLIX for the evening before bed. The breakfasts were above average, especially the Blueberry French Toast which was excellent. The room was comfortable. The shower a bit on the small side, I'm guessing 30in square so would bne tight for larger person...not a fan of the water-saver shower and a massage head would have been good. Bottom line, it wasn't bad nor was it excellent, left me ambivalent overall

Response from Nathalie Robertson, Owner at Chrysler House
Responded Aug 22, 2022
Thank you for your review! I apologize for my absence during your stay. On July 7th, 2022 we welcomed a baby boy. During your stay we would have just reopened after a week of being closed for his arrival. Since his birth I have not been able to interact with guests as much as before (although I am always here if anyone should need anything as we do live on site). We are lucky to have recently hired two lovely employees, one of which you would have met during your stay, to help us during this very busy time! We do not have TVs in the guest rooms. We are not able to explicitly state this on most websites. We have not added TVs to the rooms as we have not received any requests until this time to do so, and in fact have received comments that the lack of television was enjoyed. I am sorry that this was a point of disappointment. Thank you again for your review. :)

We definitely lucked out getting a room here. Patrick was welcoming and helpful. The room (garden room) was beautiful. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had our own enterance off the patio which was nice. Big bathroom. Breakfast was so good! We got to pick what we wanted to eat, what time to eat, and where (room, balcony, dining room). They offer charcuterie and drinks until 10 which is also a super nice touch. Located right next to an amazing Italian restaurant, Riva, and the Gananoque River. This is the kind of place that made us want to come back to the town!

What a great choice for two friends to meet up, explore town and have a fun and comfortable evening. Nathalie, our host, was lovely and welcoming, and had earlier ironed out a booking error I had made with total grace and civility. I am a fan of old buildings, the history and elegance of them shines through, and this gorgeous 200 year old home is a shining example. There are at least two comfortable sitting areas, but our room, the Heritage, was roomy enough for us to socialize with ease. I had French toast with fresh strawberries and lemon curd. So good!! My friend enjoyed the eggs Benny. A coffee/tea centre is set up in the house front room. This B and B is right beside the Riva restaurant, where we had a great supper. It’s also very convenient to walk downtown and to the waterfront. Parking is on the property. Highly recommend!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chrysler House! We were warmly greeted, taken on a tour of the facilities, and welcomed to our suite. The accommodations are very comfortable, and each room is unique. Within walking distance we found a wide variety of shops, a microbrewery and terrific restaurants. The breakfast options included something for everyone. The presentation was beautiful, and quite frankly it was the best breakfast I think I've ever had. Highly recommended!

My friend and I did a short road trip to Gananoque (early Sept.) just to get away for some nice R&R. We picked the Chrysler House and I am SO glad we did, we loved it! Stayed in the Painter's Suite which was great - separate living room area, comfy bed, small private and well appointed bathroom. The whole place is beautiful and spotless. Nathalie was so welcoming and always available. After a nice stroll through the village and by the water (location is great as everything is a couple minutes walk), we enjoyed the late afternoon sun on the back porch where we enjoyed our own bottle of rose and ordered their small charcuterie board which was very well presented and had two cheeses, two meats, grainy mustard, red pepper jelly, crostinis, fruits...perfect! We later went for dinner at Riva next door which we loved and enjoyed the patio musical entertainment. We loved that for the breakfast we had the option of dining room, room service or patio as well as the time we preferred. We chose the patio - and when we got outside, the table was already all set up with orange juice waiting for us. The options for breakfast were also great, tough to choose! My friend got the french toast and I got the avocado toast with chorizo jam and salsa...both delicious and again, the care in presentation was flawless. We felt pampered and came back happy and rested. It was my first time in Gananoque but not the last - its a perfect spot for a little get away and the Chrysler House was perfect. Keep up the good work, we will definitely be recommending your place :)

My wife and I just spent two nights at the Chrysler House and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The room was beautiful, the breakfasts were exceptional and our hosts were extremely gracious. The location is excellent and it was an easy walk to restaurants, the marina and the Gan Brewery. We look forward to our next stay at the Chrysler House.
