It is an old building but very well maintained. The room is clean and the view from our room just spectacular. The hotel grounds are just perfectly done. Very enjoyable to take a walk around the premises.
I like everything about this place... and Percé. This place is outstandingly we’ll maintained. The interior finishes and decor are beautiful. Had room 65 overlooking the ocean. Perfect perfect perfect. Comfortable. Hôtel grounds are impeccable. I would fit this establishment in the Fairmont category of hotels.
This hotel is right on Highway 132. It is also easy walking distance to EVERYTHING in Perce. Our room (perhaps all do) had a beautiful view of Perce, dawn, day and dusk. The little balcony was great for a glass of wine and reading. The Normandie does not have an elevator, so you are stuck carrying your bags up and down stairs. Rooms are smallish but adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Reservation could only be made through the hotel's website before the seasonal re-opening on June 15. No issues here. We were greeted very politely on arrival. Room was upgraded to first floor (instead of ground floor; those were not ready yet I gathered). Located right beside the communal living room, the room was of standard size, with a good queen bed, t.v., small fridge, phone. The bathroom was also of standard size and offered the usual toiletries and a few extras along with good water pressure and quick hot water! Everything was spotless. From the balcony, we had a fantastic view on the sea, the Rocher Percé and Bonaventure Island and it proved to be a great place to watch the gannets feeding and some whales in the distance. Wifi worked fine but one could use the computer (old model but did the job) in the communal living room if needed. Breakfast was not included but there was a restaurant on site (didn't try it, sorry). Note that there are some restaurants and a grocery store just a couple of minutes away on foot. Overall, a nice stay in a well-situated hotel with a great view and free parking! Only weird note: when we got the room, I opened the fridge to put our food in it but it wasn't working. So I went to the reception to report it. I was told that it was up to the client to start the fridge or not. The hotel was not keeping them running at all times and unplugs them between clients. To my mind, this was missing the point of having a fridge in a room, i.e. a cold place to put food & beverages in upon arrival (and not have to wait 3-4 hours for it to cool). I ended up getting ice from the ice machine and filling up a couple containers as temporary ice packs until the fridge was cold enough. Never had this happened to me in all the hotels I've been to. First time for everything I guess.…
The rooms are ok and have great views of the rocher. It is located right by the water and close to the center of the action. Some days we had a hard time finding parking as it was always full. We had to switch room as the one we wanted was not available 3 nights. We were upstairs the first night and although it had 2 small beds instead of the queen bed we wanted we preferred it to the one on the ground floor were we stayed 2 nights. The one on the groung floor was noisy, smelled musty and was not private . people walked in front of the room back and forth so we had to close the curtains. We did not get to enjoy the view as much because of this. One thing we found disapointing was the fact that if you wanted a couple of extra coffee pods we were charged 2$ each pod...really. ?.we spent over 1200.00 at this hotel and got extra charged! Also we did not get pods for our last morning. Left us with a sad impression overall of our stay…
