Friendly and helpful check in personnel . Nice lobby. Recently refinished bedroom. Very large TV. View of waterfront. Good pub/restaurant adjoining.

Bathroom nicely and recently remodeled. Nice tile flooring and shower. Room was ver clean The only downside would be the limited on site parking.

I wasn’t overly impressed. The rooms are small but updated and nicely laid out. Access to rooms will have you taking an elevator to your floor then taking stairs to your room on a half floor. If you have a lot of luggage then it’s a bit of a pain. The free parking for the facility is very limited so you may have to use the pay for parking lot behind the hotel. Lastly, the hotel states a full breakfast is available. Not really. It’s not even a full continental. No toast, waffles, or other usual items.
Overall a 6 out of 10

Hotel was nice and in a good location for the waterfront which is what we wanted. I was happy I brought my own Lysol wipes to wipe everything down. Bathroom had hair on the floor. Also all the surfaces seemed not as clean as they could be.
We booked this hotel because it also said breakfast included. It was minimal to say the least. Granola bars, oranges and frozen breakfast burritos that had frost on them. Travelling with a child breakfast is extremely important in planning. Was happy we had brought some food with us.
The staff were extremely nice.

We were able to check in early despite it being a long weekend, which was so great as we were travelling with pets. Very friendly staff and pretty room. So nice to be able to sit outside on a terrace next door at Fion McCools!

We were looking forward to staying at this hotel, as it's reasonably priced and has a good location. HOWEVER, the enjoyment disappeared once we realized that we had been over-charged. The manager refused to honor the lowest rate, which was ON the Choice Hotels website. With an ethical manager, this property has the potential to provide a positive customer experience.

Dear guest, Thank you for staying with us and your comments with regards to the" best rate guarantee"- We have done some research on this and have the following: Our records indicate that Choice Hotels had an on-line promotion with a 25% discount. When you arrived at the hotel this promotion was not available. However, at the time of check-out this promotion was active and you were offered this discounted rate of 25% off our best rate. I'm glad that we were able to extend this discount to you. Should you have any questions or concerns, kindly give us a call. We are happy to help. Kind regards, Guest Services.

"Waterfront" in the name is completely misleading. The water is 200 meters away across the road. Our room was small and cramped, with a lovely view of a brick wall. Staff were friendly, but that is about it for the positives. Unless you can get a too good to be true price, you'll probably be happier staying somewhere else.

We checked into this motel after a long drive. After our room assignment we were told to hike up three floors to our room. Guess that was something we should have checked out.
Dining at the attached restaurant was very good and after an enjoyable stroll along the waterfront we retired.
When we retired we noticed hair and foreign dirt in both beds.
We immediately called the front desk. After apologies we were assigned a new room which had clean beds.
This is unacceptable especially in these times of civil 19.

Dear guest, Thank you for your review. The hotel completed a full renovation and part of the plan is to construct a brand new elevator. We have already started this project. Plan to have the elevator work completed soon. Allow me to apologize on behalf of our hotel for failing to meet your expectations regarding hair on the bed. I have shared your feedback with the housekeeping team to ensure we handle these types of situations differently in the future. Again, thank you for your time and valuable feedback. We sincerely appreciate it and hope you will give us another chance to provide you with superior service and accommodations on your next visit to Orillia

Very Very small room, never seen a room as small as this one. Nonetheless nicely appointed. Linens were very nice, bed super comfortable. Bathroom recently renovated, modern and clean. Hotel staff very friendly. Overpriced for the size of the room. Continental breakfast was minimal at best. Prepackaged muffins, croissants, fruit cups! Coffee was decent but we basically had to go out to breakfast anyway.
The limited parking is a HUGE issue. We checked in around 3:30 and had a spot in the tiny lot, went out to dinner and to a show at Rama. We arrived back at the hotel after midnight in a blinding blizzard only to have nowhere to park. They directed us to an offsite lot, two blocks away-not a big deal unless it is late at night and a blizzard out. And what about guests with limited mobility? The next morning we had to schlep our bags to the offsite parking, around 8 inches of snow had fallen. While cleaning off my car I discovered a $50 parking ticket, so I had to make my way back to the hotel again to present it to them. They said they would take care of it, but I have kept a photo of it just in case as it will go on my license if it's not paid. Upon attempting to exit the unplowed parking lot, the city went by on the street with the plow and a huge windrow blocked me from exiting. As I sat in my car contemplating who to call about my dilemma, a kind Orillia citizen pulled over, asked me if I was blocked in and proceeded to get a shovel out of his trunk and dig me a path out of the parking lot. He was certainly the bright spot to my morning!
Would I stay at this hotel again? No, the room was way way too small for my liking, breakfast was a joke and the parking issue was inconvenient.

I agree with”Run don’t Walk” review.
Phoned hotel the day prior to arriving that my reservations were in order.
On checking in, was told I did not book king room but had a double room. A copy of reservation did nothing to convince otherwise. Spoke with day staff next morning and straightened things out, so I thought. Assured everything fine. On checking out, questioned a charge on my credit card...again assured everything was fine. Once at home, tried to straighten out bill. Like talking to a brick wall. I am now in possession of someone else’s bill and information and now wonder what they have done with mine and who is in possession of it!! Please, save yourself and stay elsewhere!!
The hotel: Cons - ELEVATOR NOT FUNCTIONING, 16 parking spaces plus one handicapped spot (stairs lead from back parking lot to lobby, so if one has mobility issues they must enter in front). No card given for cars that need to park elsewhere. Instead told that they will pay parking ticket. After my hotel bill issues, i don’t have confidence in that!
Rooms small ( older hotel), very little and cramped space for toiletries in bathroom. View may be of brick wall.
Breakfast: NO tables or chairs to sit on. Must either eat in room or in lobby on couch. Food limited to frozen and warm in microwave.
Pros - convenient location to downtown.

Wheelchair accessible room is located on the first floor. It is very clean & comfortable. Bathroom is huge with a gigantic roll-in shower.

But...its located beside the parking lot access door from the lobby. The door slams closed each time it is opened and as a result, its very very difficult to get a decent sleep in this room.

The shuttle bus is a school bus and can fit up to 40 adults per trip comfortably. It runs on event nights only, for a nominal fee. It leaves the property every hour, from 5:15pm-8:15pm. It returns every hour with midnight being the last run.

We are in the process of installing an elevator, as we are a historic property, we are experiencing some challenges. Rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors are the quietest, facing the lake.

Answer from WindsorTenor

The bus station is located on the same street as the hotel. It is 550 metres away from the hotel. If you use Google Maps, type in Orillia, then type in bus station. This will locate the station for you. Then hit directions and type in from Champlain Waterfront Hotel. This will show you the route and direction to the property
