I wouldn‘t even go to Orillia. It‘s a beautiful place at the lake, but that‘s it. Very quiet, very boring but the hotel was noisy the whole night. Very busy with party-people who slam the doors every 5 minutes. The very very small rooms and breakfast was a shock for us. No thanks
We booked this hotel on a whim after arriving early to our originally booked hotel, and witnessing an altercation between the front desk staff and a patron - so we elected to cancel that reservation, and rebooked with the Champlain Waterfront Hotel. The pictures looked fantastic, and we thought it looked super cool upon arrival. First we parked in the back, and were immediately accosted by someone that our car was crooked - fine. Fixed the car in the EMPTY parking lot, and tried to shrug off the nonsense. We were greeted by a lovely front desk host, and were told we were unfortunately too early to check in, but that she'd call us as soon as the room was ready - we were super early, so not a problem. The lobby was beautiful, and the ambiance was fantastic. She kept her promise, and called us within 45 mins of our stopping by. We checked in slightly before 3, and upon entering our room were hit a wall of heat - our room was literally 34 degrees, and the heat was on - we checked in August 27th - the heat definitely should not have been on. We closed the curtains and jacked the ac up, and cooled the room down within the hour. Fine. Whatever. My husband in the meantime noticed the top cover ontop of the duvet looked like it had footprints on it. We brushed them off and said meh maybe it's just a stain. Unfortunately however when we pulled the covers back we were met with multiple layers of yellow bodily fluid stains from the duvet and all the way down to the mattress pad. I went to the front desk and asked to be moved rooms or to have housekeeping come to the room - there were no rooms available to switch, and housekeeping was gone for the day. The front desk woman was beyond amazing, and went to find us new bedding immediately and helped us strip the filth. She left a note on our file, and said that she would ask that the manager speak with us at checkout. I was assured that bedding wad changed between patrons- but I have my doubts because the makeup face cloth in the washroom also had hair on it - obviously not changed out between room cleanings. We spent the night, no real hiccups, but the next morning the manager was not present, and we were assured he would call us. It's now been 7 days since our stay at this hotel, and I don't anticipate a call. I would never recommend this hotel, nor would we return. Koodos to Margaret for being an amazing person, but the hotel and the management suck.…
Friendly and helpful check in personnel . Nice lobby. Recently refinished bedroom. Very large TV. View of waterfront. Good pub/restaurant adjoining. Bathroom nicely and recently remodeled. Nice tile flooring and shower. Room was ver clean The only downside would be the limited on site parking.
There are only a handful of parking spots -- so the website says "hey, we have free parking" but only for 10 cars and the rest of you have to park at a grocery store and risk a ticket and the hassle of going so far to get your vehicle. The website says free shuttle to the casino on concert nights -- NOPE! So add that cost to your stay. The breakfast said "hot breakfast" -- NOPE! It was coffee and stale pastries and other dried goods. We tried to address our concerns with the hotel desk and they really just said we were wrong and the website didn't say that -- and it clearly does. They offered us nothing to try to help, other than to call us a cab if we wanted to. The room was tiny but clean - but I paid $250 per night to shlep my stuff to the car and back, worry about my car in a grocery store parking lot all night, deal with a small room with no lake view, and paid extra for the cab ride to the casino -- the reasons we booked at this hotel. Rooms not cleaned because of COVID policy -- so fine -- but what did I pay that much for? Not worth the money, and service was terrible.…
I wasn’t overly impressed. The rooms are small but updated and nicely laid out. Access to rooms will have you taking an elevator to your floor then taking stairs to your room on a half floor. If you have a lot of luggage then it’s a bit of a pain. The free parking for the facility is very limited so you may have to use the pay for parking lot behind the hotel. Lastly, the hotel states a full breakfast is available. Not really. It’s not even a full continental. No toast, waffles, or other usual items. Overall a 6 out of 10
What a terrible experience. We have stayed at this hotel before and were very happy. This time the tv did not work, we shared a common wall with the ice maker room and did not get more than 2 hours sleep because of the noise. The “included” breakfast was basically cereal and instant oatmeal with yogurt. We will never be back.
I agree with”Run don’t Walk” review. Phoned hotel the day prior to arriving that my reservations were in order. On checking in, was told I did not book king room but had a double room. A copy of reservation did nothing to convince otherwise. Spoke with day staff next morning and straightened things out, so I thought. Assured everything fine. On checking out, questioned a charge on my credit card...again assured everything was fine. Once at home, tried to straighten out bill. Like talking to a brick wall. I am now in possession of someone else’s bill and information and now wonder what they have done with mine and who is in possession of it!! Please, save yourself and stay elsewhere!! The hotel: Cons - ELEVATOR NOT FUNCTIONING, 16 parking spaces plus one handicapped spot (stairs lead from back parking lot to lobby, so if one has mobility issues they must enter in front). No card given for cars that need to park elsewhere. Instead told that they will pay parking ticket. After my hotel bill issues, i don’t have confidence in that! Rooms small ( older hotel), very little and cramped space for toiletries in bathroom. View may be of brick wall. Breakfast: NO tables or chairs to sit on. Must either eat in room or in lobby on couch. Food limited to frozen and warm in microwave. Pros - convenient location to downtown.…
"Waterfront" in the name is completely misleading. The water is 200 meters away across the road. Our room was small and cramped, with a lovely view of a brick wall. Staff were friendly, but that is about it for the positives. Unless you can get a too good to be true price, you'll probably be happier staying somewhere else.
Nothing works in this hotel. Elevator has been broken for 3 years or more, there is no cleaning staff so they hand you sheets to make your own bed. You lug your own luggage up the stairs yourself, the air conditioning work to cool for15 minutes then changes to heat,oh and no parking spaces so they advise just let them ticket you and we can pay the ticket. Run to any other hotel. Just awful.
Let’s start with what’s good; Location couldn’t be better! Grocery store, liquor store and lots of restaurants very close by with a discount at Fionns. You can see the water if your room is at the back. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Ice machine works. Bad; no elevator. Very limited parking. The young woman running the front desk is not very welcoming and doesn’t like being taken out of her comfort zone. We’ve stayed in worse places. I wouldn’t stay here again because of the parking problem and no elevator.
