We recently enjoyed a 3-night stay at the Stone Gate Inn in Orillia. Our room had an incredibly comfortable king-size bed and was very quiet; we did not hear noise from any of the other suites. The WiFi signal was extremely stable and strong. Our room was fairly clean, except for a couple of spots of undetermined substance sticking to the inside of the suite door. It came in handy having the little kitchenette in our room, complete with fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and sink. There was ample vehicle parking at the hotel. Staff are very good here and quite responsive to their guests.

One of the best things we encountered during our stay was the Stone Gate’s approach to serving breakfast even though their dining room was closed due to COVID restrictions. Upon check-in we were provided a detailed sheet listing much of the hotel’s breakfast menu. The evening prior to next day’s breakfast we would check off the desired items on the sheet, indicating a preferred callback time for the next morning, then call our menu choices down to Reception. The next morning, Reception would call at the appointed time to let us know our breakfast was ready, and we would then go to the Reception area and pick it up, returning to the room to eat. It was a great system!

The pool and gym were closed due to the current COVID measures, so I can’t comment on those amenities. We were generally pleased with our room except for the fact the smoke detector/alarm sensor was located directly outside the bathroom door – when one of us took a shower, the deafening alarm would come screaming on and it took quite an effort to get it to stop. Even if we showered with the bathroom door closed and the exhaust fan on, the alarm was still triggered when the bathroom door was opened. Could this sensor not be located elsewhere?!

Overall I found the hotel a little dated and tired in places; the pictures on the web site were deceiving. Also, if you don’t drive, the hotel is not exactly located ideally in Orillia, in terms of being close to any restaurants. There was, however, a Foodland next door and a variety store across the street.

Simply an amazing place to stay in Orillia. Convenient location just off the highway and easy access to the Casino Rama for the show.

The staff were very friendly, and the check in/out were quick and professional. The hotel is elegant and when you get to your room you will be blown away. The room was spacious and the king size bed was perfect. I have not slept that well in a long time.

I know where we will be staying whenever we are in Orillia.

And the Golden Wok and Pizzaville were close by for dinner and the late night snack. Try them both.

Stayed here for one night while in town. Very nice hotel with a pool and continental breakfast. We stayed in a suite which had a fridge, microwave, actual dishes and silverware. Room was spacious. We did however almost get locked out late at night because our key didn’t work and the front desk was closed. Fortunately we found a door unlocked.

Things missing in the hotel since new owners takeover a few years back. Ice bucket, Ice cube trays, plates and matching coffee cups, clock radio in bedroom, door that opens to let fresh air in. Door is there but will not open, flower boxes on balcony. Bar in lounge not stocked anylonger, no booze available. No hor'derves on Friday nights.
Floors in kitchen not cleaned, stick to floor, glass windows in room covered in dirt smeers, desk have sticky finger prints, hair floating in jacuzzi. This room was not cleaned or disinfected dispite covid regulations. Had waffle maker and batter in breakfast room but now only eggo waffles to toast. No bagels or danish either.
Since the hotel takeover there are no staff from Stonegate any longer, cleaning staff does not speak english, only spanish and if you complain to manager she does nothing but say I will take care of it, then does nothing. Swimming pool was
67F. 2 days later, same temp. even after complaining. Its one thing to try and save money as a hotel owner but don't call yourself a luxury hotel when you basically rate a #2 rating. If no improvement over the next few years this hotel will either go bankrupt or turn into a no tell motel. Lounge used to be full on FRIDAY nights from 5-8pm with guest eating and drinking. No drunks or problems just guests enjoying the hor'derves and drinking and making the hotel money.

At the beginning of September I booked a room for a 2 night stay, September 24th and 25th. Checked in on Friday , told the girl at the desk I was there for 1 nights. Saturday morning around 11:15 housekeeping knocked on the door and told me that check out was at 11. I responded that I was there for one more night. Within 15 minutes the telephone rang and the lady at the front desk told me I only booked the room for one night so I must leave. I responded that I booked it for 2 nights and I’m not leaving. She responded with “You only paid for 1 night, you need to leave.” We have been going to this hotel for more than 15 years and have never been treated like this. The manager finally called me after I checked out and replied “you only booked one night.” I replied that I booked for two nights. I told her that I couldn’t believe that the staff hadn’t tried to find me another room somewhere as they had screwed up big time. There’s nothing worse than being told to get out of your room and having no place to go, I can’t believe how rude the staff was to me. Why would I book a room for one night and tell them I was there for two. The manager called me and admitted that they had 3 rooms that were out of order so obviously they had overbooked. Beware when you book a room for more than one night as you may be told to leave as I was.

I had showed up to the hotel and had to swipe my credit card for incidentals, which is normal… but they authorized my credit card 3 times for $100 (totalling in $300) and told me it didn’t go threw when I showed them it did on my end. They then took $100 from my debit card to cover the incidentals or I couldn’t go to my room. In total for a $161 stay I was authorized $400. Off to a bad start. I then get checked into my room and go up and the room was turned upside down from housekeeping, so I went back to the front desk and they made us wait an additional half an hour for the room. By the time we finally got to the room it was still dirty, you could tell it wasn’t vacuumed, she also said she would send us robes, witch they didn’t. We called down… no one picked up so we had to call the hotel from our cellphone. When they picked up the phone and we had told them we tried phoning from our room the lady said “the phone has been ringing off the hook it’s broken we don’t pick it up”. After we got our robes and fan it was an okay stay! On top of it all it was my birthday!

Thought I would treat myself because this hotel used to be awesome years ago, wondered why there were only five cars there when I checked in! It is really beat up, A/C did not work, sink plugged, one bath towel had huge obvious stain on it, no-name coffee pods for Keurig, etc. Bath tub was not cleaned to normal hotel standards. Hassle to change rooms the next day, manager forgot to look after that so I sat in my room and waited. BTW when you call their reservation line it is a third part company that charges you $20 extra to make the reservation! Breakfast was bread and some eggo waffles on a tray with plastic wrap on top!

We have spent years going to this hotel, it was always so clean, classy and helpful. Things are not like that anymore.
We were greeted by a young girl that had absolutely no people skills, hardly spoke and never smiled! We checked in with no problem, went up to our room and the door was propped open, we peaked inside and bed was made so figured the maid forgot to close the door. We closed the door and proceeded to unpack some food and drinks into our kitchenette, OMG is all I can say the fridge looked like it had not been cleaned in months, sink was full of dirty dishes and cupboards were empty! We called the front desk from our room to express our disbelief and no answer! (They never answer their phones) Long story short the overworked maids were called away by the manager to do something else and didn't finish cleaning the room. Huge SHOUT OUT TO NORMA whom came quickly to the room apologizing for the mess, she was great as well as a blonde lady from the front desk that came to apologies for her co-workers attitude.
There was not one thing about staying that was good. We had two hand towels and one bath towel for three people, there was black mold on the mattress of the pullout sofa, breakfast is served to you on a small side plate of cold eggs, cold frozen hash browns and two balls not even sure what they were but could not bite into them!
I am extremely saddened they have taken over this property to just let it go

Booked this hotel based on good reviews. However, nothing like the good reviews. We stayed there three nights, and our room was never cleaned nor did we get clean towels the entire time. Although it is covid times, they promise you breakfast each morning by asking you to fill out a questionnaire each evening for the next morning of your choices. However, although we filled out the questionnaire each night we did NOT receive the breakfast - reason - they ran out of food, even ran out of coffee. Not a big deal, but not sure why they promise if they cannot deliver. I can only assume that the owners did NOT provide them with enough supplies. The staff was upset and one of them was crying because everyone was complaining. The DAY receptionist was never there, and not to mention that there was no manager in site. The poor staff that was trying prepare the food had to also tend to reception - unbelievable. The garbage at reception was full and overflowing from the garbage can when we got there on Thursday, and the same garbage was there and even more overflowing when we left. I recognized our double cup Timmies cups ... the hotel is in a good location and could be a nice place if service and cleanliness was improved, and management was there and available for both the customers and staff support. We certainly don’t plan on staying there again.

Pre valentines getaway and since we had been before many years ago and liked it thought lets give it a try. Arrived just after dinner and check in was friendly and helpful. Right away made aware the Hot Tub wasn't working but asked if we wanted to check out a DVD for the room we declined. Arrived at the room dirty towel in the bathroom, no pillow cases and TV had nothing satellite or cable but it did have a DVD and VCR combo but these formats are pretty dated. Was told if you come down in the morning the dining room wasn't in use due to covid but you could take back to your room. Went down for breakfast dining room full and in use but only toaster on hand wasn't working and breakfast being served on styrofoam plates with tiny portions but was free. Not what I had in mind or how I remembered my last stay. Staff is great but hotel is outdated and maybe need some double checks done on room standards when new people are brought on board. Overall 3 out of 10.

Best to contact the hotel. Their in-room info details the schedule; if memory serves, they suggest reserving as it's a small bus. Runs weekends and "for select shows".

The bus terminal is right behind the hotel but I would suggest calling the hotel to confirm or check the Orillia website to see where bus stops are.

We had our own transportation. However, there is a shuttle to take you to places. We used it to go to the show at the Casino. It was very good. Call the inn to see if they can accommodate your requests.
