This was our third stay in Northstar Mountain Village Resort this ski season. Arrived on Friday night. 3 bedroom deluxe unit, with garage backing onto a grassed wooded area. I opened the door to unit and I was greeted by the stench of garbage. I found piles of leaking trash bags, pizza boxes, with pizza inside, A and W burger debris, leaking drinks containers, containing drinks and cigarette butts. The in- unit hot tub had more garbage around it, evidence of partying and the smell of dog poop was also hanging around the hot tub deck. Reported to reception on Saturday morning. No staff available to remove the trash from the garage so it was agreed I would remove it in order to address the stench. Multiple trips to the garbage cans later, and liberal applications of air freshener! I asked for management to be informed and I also sent an email complaint. I was advised I would be compensated for the inconvenience. A foot of snow fell on May 8th! Dog owners staying in the units let their dogs out throughout the two days of snowfall Dogs not on leashes. It was as though the grassed area behind the unit, next to the hot tub, was a dog toilet. On Wednesay, I'd still not received a reply to my email complaint or any response to the complaint I'd made in person to the receptionist 5 days earlier. So, I went back to reception to complain again, especially as more piles of dog poop had been deposited in front of my in-unit hot tub. Bizarely, I was told that it my complaints are the responsibility of Interval International as my reservation was via them. I was told that Northstar Resort has no control or responsibility for owners of units who allow their dogs to use the grounds of the resort as a bathroom. Apparently, its an issue often discussed at Strata meetings! Disgusted, I left the unit that evening and I drove the five hours to home, which was preferable to staying in a unit and the odor of dog poop. I am disappointed, frustrated, angry and I feel badly let down. Northstar management told me I would not be compensated for any of the issues I encountered as " we don't make any money off your reservation when its via Interval International" Frankly, I was made to feel like an inconvenience, irrelevant and certainly not a valued guest, despite the being my third stay this season. Beware! If you are an Interval International guest do not expect to receive the same customer service as an owner? Northstar Mountain Village Resort will refuse to accept ownership of issues within their immediate control. Bizarre! If you have children with you, they may have close encounters with dog poop. Disgusting. The dog owners who allow their dogs to poop around other units and roam around unsupervised should be ashamed of themselves. You are responsible for your dog and its excrement. The Strata for Northstar Mountain Village Resort needs to take immediate action to address this issue. It is a health hazard.…
The resort is under Covid protocol but this will not affect your enjoyment of the acres of slopes at this fantastic mountain .I particularly enjoyed the roughly 1.5 miles vertical on groomed terrain on the front side of the mountain (great for those that need a gentler pace)but treed skiing and moguls are definitely there for the taking. A high speed quad chair ensures that you will get to your next run in good time. You can pick up lunch and dinner at the Buckhorn & Main restaurant. There is an online procedure for most ticket purchases but my half day pass was purchased same day at their ticket office. Recommended!
I would have liked to give this place a 5 star but there was a few issues. The garage door opener didn’t work, it did get fixed 3 days in after we called. Also, we only found out one week prior that the pool would be closed, big bummer. Finally, the hot tub maintenance company came to change out the water 2 days into our stay, drained it then didn’t return 😳. Luckily, all these issues got handled promptly once we reached the manager. Pros, great space, great deck with magnificent views and unit had all amenities. We will likely return.
These condos are so nice, and the hot tub was an amazing touch! So much space for a large group and very reasonably priced for being ski in/ski out or very close to it. Our condo was in a location that it was easier to walk to the lift, but the skiers and boarders were able to ski right to the back of our condo. I recommend it!
Northstar Mountain Village Resort is a dream for those looking to combine skiing & relaxation into a fun filled family winter escape. We have 2 daughters 11 & 15 who share our passion to ski but as they grow older the thought of getting up in the morning to drive to a resort, wait in ticket lines or hike back to the car at the end of the day is becoming less appealing. We know we only have a few more years left before they won’t want to be away for a week with us but something miraculous happened this year! After spending many years in Banff/Canmore we had a reservation fall though at the last minute and started frantically looking for available accommodations. With Christmas upon us and only a few days before we were supposed to leave we contacted numerous Resorts in both AB and BC looking for last minute vacancy. Almost like a Christmas miracle we stumbled upon a resort with limited vacancy remaining that offered: - 2 or 3 Bedroom Ski In/Out on Hill Accommodations - Fireplace and large living area with separate TV in Master Bedroom - Private Hot Tub & BBQ on your deck - In suite personal washer/dryer - Clubhouse with small Exercise Facility, Outdoor Pool & Hot Tub (heated in winter) We spent 8 days here in a bottom level 2 bedroom Unit (F2) and there was no complaining about long drives to the hill, line ups at lunch time (we could stop at our condo for lunch and rest via T-Bar) and the tiring walks back to the car were replaced by the excitement of who could be first on back and into the Hot Tub while Dad BBQ’d dinner and mom figured out what games we could play or movies we could watch in the evening. (Wide selection of DVD’s at main office) The facility was immaculate, staff were friendly and the Northstar Mountain Village will not disappoint. A special thank you to Jesse and his entire team for pulling everything together for our family with short notice. Our Ski Vacation one of the most memorable as our girls asked when we left...”When can we go back?”...something every parent loves to hear especially from kids aged 11 & 15! All the best in 2020 everyone! The “Cookes”! …
Kimberley is a stunning area and the staff at North Star Mountain Village were so friendly and helpful. The people in Kimberley are incredible and make the experience that much more enjoyable. When we were at the resort, Kate went above and beyond, thank you for being so kind and accommodating!
We have never been here before. We no longer ski downhill, so we wanted to come to celebrate 60th birthdays with family. We loved our unit being K4. It was on the north end of a row of units that had good views to the trees on two sides which was very much appreciated especially since we had grand kids along and they were able to play on the lawn and in the trees. They also really appreciated the pool and the hot tub. Front desk staff were friendly, check in was a breeze, they were helpful when we need more garbage bags and toilet paper. We also had the fridge light go out, and they gave us a replacement right then and there. The kitchen was huge! Loved it especially since there were 6 adults with more than one in the kitchen at once. Lots of pots and pans of decent quality. Kitchen knives were better than most places we have stayed at. We even had a Dutch Oven pot which was well used. Bedrooms were decent and generous in size even the one with a set of bunks. Our king bed was perfect in terms of firmness and comfort. The resort swimming pool was well used by us as the kids really enjoyed it and us adults appreciated it was warmer than most. The pool towels were too small and almost useless except for small children. Bring your own if you can. Will be come again? FOR SURE!…
We requested a cabin with direct access to the T-bar we were disappointed that we were told only when we checked in that those cabins were not available. The pool was a great idea until we were told it was now closed for maintenance? The unexpected changes did not damage our holiday in the least it was just disappointing-the cabin was beautiful, clean and fully stocked. The hot tub was great, the tv was easy for us to use. The weather was beautiful, the people were friendly, we had a wonderful vacation. We are considering a return in the spring. ThankYou
We found the price too expensive for the unit. We expected the unit to be bigger. We had a room with a double bed, this should be changed to a queen. Good location and was great to have a private hot tub.
overall the room was good, nice hottub,,a good ski-in-out resort. the lift is right outside the door, make sure you get to the T-lift before it closes at 4;20pm so you don't need to walk up the hill to the resort.
