Found this lovely motel in St Andrews, NB. The Picket Fence Motel is super clean and the owners are friendly and helpful. Close to downtown, you can walk anywhere to take in the sights. The motel has been there for a long time and only two families have owned it in the last 100 years which they will celebrate in 2023. Many renovations have been done since then, of course. It's affordable, clean, and all you need for a good place to sleep.
We suddenly needed a room and the owner was lovely and accommodating. Helpful with advice and friendly. Stayed in two different rooms on a busy weekend. Both were clean with all the basics. Not luxury but not looking for it. Reasonably priced and well run. We definitely recommend this place.
This is a great motel within easy walking distance of downtown and the waterfront. We 3 adults stayed in a twin double and there was more than enough space for us and our gear. I really appreciated how the room was laid out for multiple people to be comfortable. It seems that someone has really put some thought into outlets, lighting and storage- right down to shelving and extra towel hangers in the bathroom. Bedding and linens were clean, comfy and of good quality. There was a small fridge and coffee maker in the room as well. TV was large enough for easy viewing from both beds. The channel selection was good too. Wi -fi worked just fine. Everything was quite clean and well maintained. The extra steps taken for covid safety were also appreciated and made us feel quite comfortable. The grassy outdoor area is pretty and perfect for sitting in the shade of the fruit trees watching the birds. It was quiet enough there to relax but not so much that it feels uncomfortable having a chat or roaming around a bit. A quick & pretty (10 minutes or so) walk took us into downtown for dinner. The shining star of our stay though was our hostess. We traveled with a trailer and really deserved frowns and stink eye while maneuvering it around for parking. Instead, we were met with smiles, assistance and commiseration. Our AC & room fridge had been turned on prior to our arrival and both were nice and cool. She even provided us with a biker's towel pack for drying off the motorcycle after a morning rain. I cannot recall ever feeling this welcome when staying somewhere. I highly recommend The Picket Fence and I will definitely be staying there if I am ever in St Andrew's again.…
The roomwas clean. The owner or person in the office, was most condescending because i dared to show up at 2pm to pay for the room i had booked. She made a remark about this being a time of day to get things done and that she had to get off a ladder. Don't advertise office hours from 8am to 10pm if you're going to be so rude to potential guests. Or hire someone to Stay at the desk . So ,The Picket Fence Motel is not on the list for me again.
Please do not consider staying here if you live outside of the atlantic bubble. The owner made us feel very uncomfortable being there and made it clear that she did not want us near her when she saw our Ontario licence plate. She was upset that we had already reserved a room and all but said we should have stayed in our own province. Aside from the unbelievable rudeness and unacceptable service the room was of an acceptable quality. If we had been able to find somewhere last minute we would have found any alternate accomodations.
We had stayed here a few years ago. In the meantime, the place has been spruced up. The location was always a reason to stay and it is good value for the price. They now seem to have renewed the linens and the toiletries are very nice.
Stayed 1 night, 2 adults and 1 14yr old. Very comfortable room with everything you need and super clean. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our next visit to St Andrews will very likely bring us back to this great little motel.
Great hotel......looks like a standard aged side-of-the-road motel from the highway, but inside, clean, modern, newly renovated. Friendly service, and would definitely come back. Why spend 300 bucks at the Algonquin?
We had a great stay at this Motel. It is impeccably clean, spacious, lots of places to sit outside in the courtyard and just a short walk to the Town of St. Andrews! Great value for the price and very friendly staff. We highly recommend this Motel for comfort and quite with close proximity to everything! We will return! Thanks, Terrance.
Loved the room with basic furniture, comfortable bed and newly renovated bathroom. Service was super, room was clean, linens were nice. Perfect for our stay. The office is not wheelchair accessible. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to any attractions in St. Andrew's.
