Very disappointed that breakfast is not included at that price per night stay. Modern, clean, but not walking distance to water front, Parc des Chutes or other tourist activities. Desk staff is bilingual.

This was a very good hotel. The room was spacious and the hotel itself was very clean. The staff were very welcoming. Although the hotel is undergoing a big addition, we were not affected by this in any way. The restaurant had been moved to one of the ballrooms, but was still very good. The food was excellent and served in a timely manner.

the absolute worst hotel i have ever stayed in. a one nighter on our way home from the maritimes. the entire hotel smells like chlorine. the view is of a parking lot. the bar is a joke. i asked for a gin and tonic and i got a gin and seven up. the bartender went back to eating spaghetti out of a tupperware. the spa is also a joke. the AC started making a noise like a motor about to explode. when I told the front desk, they didn't even flinch nor apologize. we high-tailed it out of there at 6:30am to head back to Montreal. Would have been more restful to drive straight through than stay in this dump.

We stayed at the Hotel Universel in July 2021 and were extremely satisfied with our visit at that time. The hotel which is pet friendly has rooms accessible from the back of the room to the parking lot, which proved to be a great asset for us. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable for the 2 of us and our medium sized dog. We booked a room for the end of July2022 3 weeks prior to travelling and were advised that there were no rooms accessible to the parking lot available but we would be accommodated with a first floor room not far from an exit. We arrived at the hotel and the check in staffer was friendly and polite and after asking about the best place to park, he suggested a specific outside door which he said was close to our room. He did not mention that this door led to a stairwell which had open stairs where one had to first climb up a flight of stairs and then go down a second flight to get to the area where the room was located (not fun with a dog who was terrified of open steps). Upon opening the door to the hallway, the smell of chlorine was unmistakable and then when we opened the door to the room, the chlorine odour was overwhelming. The sliding doors to the room opened to the indoor pool , not what we expected or were advised when booking. We went back to the front desk to request a change and were told the only other room available (hotel was fully booked because of long weekend elsewhere in Canada) was a room used for emergencies, such as a mistaken overbooking. We were shown the room (on the second floor beside the elevator) and it did not have a window! Not a great feeling of security in case of a fire and certainly not up to code anywhere in the civilized world. We chose to leave despite being advised by the front desk staffer that there were no other rooms available anywhere in the vicinity (true). We were throughly disappointed and angered by what happened here and had we been given specific information about the room in advance would have chosen to stay elsewhere. We did our 5.5 hour drive to our next destination which we had planned to do the next day. We are sadder but wiser and would recommend to future guests to ask very specific questions about their rooms when booking.

We booked this hotel as R-d-L was the halfway point on our drive from Nova Scotia to Ontario. Check-in was quick and efficient, even though it was quite busy. Our room was clean, the shower pressure was fantastic, the beds were comfortable and the A/C worked very well. It was quiet, modern, and the perfect place to lay our heads after a long day of driving. This morning we had left the hotel and realized we left a sweater in our room. When we returned and asked for help we were quickly given a new key so we could retrieve our lost sweater! I’d definitely stay here again.

The room was nice and clean, plenty of soap and towels , staff was friendly . Although it was fully booked the night we were there it was quiet. We were in a fully renovated room and were happy with the room, however when we walked the corridor on a different area of the same third floor , there was a strong chlorine smell that we would definitely not have been able to endure.

Very busy but clean and efficient. $ 296.00 for a room with 2 queens seems a bit pricey to me. The one upscale nearby restaurant recommended by the staff was closed. We ended up going to a nearby pizza place.....for takeout. We wished we hadn't..

Stayed at this hotel last night. Very nice looking hotel, one part is under construction, didn't hear any noise from my room. Check in was very smooth, hallways were decorated with art pictures was very nice, rooms were very clean, beds were very comfortable. Ice machine on different floor did not have any ice. Pool was a bit small but has a water slide. Mostly kids use it, water looked cloudy probably a pee pool later at night. They have rooms that have balconies overlooking the pool area. I personally would not like these rooms too noisey for us. They have a restaurant in house with room service. I thought the prices were over inflated, we ended up ordering Salvatore's pizza which was awesome, poutines to die for. I would return to this hotel. Very close to Highway

Not at all as advertised. Room was nice. Pool was silly small and over sold on the website. It was dirty at the bottom, so I am guessing sporadic cleaning. Elevator looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. Overlooking a parking lot but that is going to happen. If the spa side is the same management or cleaners, I would have a good look around before investing your hard earned post-pandemic money at this location. The one staff member I saw at the desk was professional and brief. It is just a place to sleep. Too bad, I was looking to make some good memories for my kids but am now embarrassed I brought them here.

Service incredible . Food great . Best breaksfast for the money currently in the universe. So helpful . Rooms clean and well fitted . Reasonable rates. Leaving breakfast , after numerous coffee refills they gave us coffee to go cups as they knew we had a long drive . Also drive in and out for snow mobiles . Great local pubs .
