We stayed in one of the ocean suites off property, number 8. It was 2 bedrooms with a nice little living room and kitchenette. The view was amazing and we really enjoyed the beach at our door step. We watched the sunset each evening from our balcony. We rented paddle boards and were able to use them in the morning and evening. The unit itself was very small, and bedrooms had little room aside from being able to walk around the bed. There are no curtains in the rooms to block the morning sun, so we were up at about 5:30am each morning with the sunrise. Curtains would be a big help. The staff was very friendly, suite was clean, view was amazing, location was right on beach and close drive to restaurants. We would go again!

We were looking at visiting family up island and wanted to add a night stay into the mix. The hotels where our family lives were very pricey. While looking around we found the Qualicum Beach Inn which was about 45mins away and was offering a really cheap rate. We figured why not we can stay on the beach instead of in a town! We arrived around 5pm, and was greeted by an amazing fun loving team at the front desk! There were a few people all checking in at the same time, so there was a small line up that they got through in no time at all. Our room was on the second floor, so we walked up stairs (I do not believe they had an elevator). It looks like this hotel was recently reno'ed. They did a fantastic job! We entered a very spacious room, with the most amazing set of window! We were looking over the parking lot but I could only image them if you were facing the ocean! Just stunning! The room had a large king bed, a big desk, tv and a sitting area! The bathroom was a typical hotel bathroom size. It also had a large clothes with really nice bath robes and a steamer. Everything was extremely clean and well taken care of. AC worked great! The hotel has heated indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, gym it also offers a few different shuttle services from golf cart to escalade. We were not here long enough to use any of them. They also had an amazing restaurant. But we did have a chance to walk across the road and enjoy the amazing beach! This place would make for a great mini vacation or weekend away.

Superb hotel. Beautifully appointed rooms, inviting restaurant with indoor and inside seating part of hotel, very obliging staff, immaculate landscaping, unique design provides rooms with panoramic balconies overlooking Strait of Georgia, building designed so that rooms are set sufficiently far from highway that traffic noise not an issue. Hotel includes attractive indoor pool.

I tried the chicken appetizer. unfortunately, I did not realize it is the same dish as I had a week ago at the QBI, Qualicum. The batter coated meat is mostly chicken skin, deep fried. For the price I would expect some quality protein. The service was excellent. Hostess was lovely. Please work on the quality and presentation- a few wilted pieces of arugula under the chicken would have better left off the plate. By the way, QBI had a buttermilk chicken appetizer previously, which was much tastier than this present offering which does not match, in value, the setting and view.

This complaint involves a very troubling incident that took place at the Qualicum Beach Inn, Vancouver Island, on May 17th. We were assigned Room 105 when we initially booked into the hotel and paid $550.00 for our two night stay. First impressions of the room was that it was kinda dirty and not recently made up. Further inspection bore this out. Obvious that the floors had not been cleaned. The sheets on the first bed had not been changed as evident by the hair and flakes of skin on the sheets. The inspection of the second bed revealed something much more disgusting that we have never encountered on all our years of travel. There were several large brownish stains on the bottom sheet that appeared to be some type of bodily fluid. This was totally gross and could have posed a serious health hazard if the stains had contained an active pathogen of some type. We immediately reported this to Brad, the night manager, shortly after 8:00 PM on the 17th. Brad was rather muted in his response. He showed little emotion and did not offer an apology of any kind. He did acknowledge that this was not acceptable. I was very upset and told Brad I wanted a clean room. He gave us another room on the second floor for the remainder of our two night stay. We are very disappointed and upset how this whole situation was handled by Qualicum Beach management. The hotel took the position that the replacement room on the second floor was considered an upgrade which represented adequate compensation for our inconvenience. We never requested an upgraded room. We were puzzled by the hotel’s indifference to our outrage over the unsanitary conditions in the room. We were both very upset and distressed by the lack of an empathetic response to our situation. Most reputable hotels would have bent over backwards to make sure we were taken care of. Instead, we get ‘attitude’ from Brad and No Apology. The reality is that the Qualicum Beach Inn dropped the ball on this one. Disgusting dirty room, poor customer service and attitude. To address our concerns we expect an apology from the Qualicum Beach Inn and monetary compensation for our stress, anxiety and inconvenience caused by this incident. We sent a detailed email on May 22nd with photos of the soiled sheets to the General Manager, Irina Ciumac, outlining the basis of our complaint and our expectations for a resolution. We have not received a response of any kind from the Qualicum Beach Inn regarding this incident.

This is a very nicely renovated old, roadside inn, off the busy Island Highway. It has just two levels with a small number of rooms. The rooms are comfortable and good size for two people. The bathroom is very nice, but if you have any minimal mobility issues, the tub's side is high, with no grab rail to help get it. Given the location - nothing around except for highway and a gas station, this is not a place for a "resort" vacation. It is very appropriate for a one night stop on the way to somewhere else. There are restaurants along the shore 1-2 miles away, or the town, which is about 1 mile away, we walked, but it is not for everyone ( our friends we travelled with could not walk those distances). There is a partially obstructed view of the shore and the sunset from the balcony of the second floor rooms. The restaurant is nice, enjoyed the breakfast. I will give it three stars, because it was not appropriate for three night stay, and for the location it was way overpriced. Would not go back.

We enjoyed our stay for the most part due to the hotel's location as it was easy to walk to the beach and to drive to Parksville.
We sympathize with the hotel and the situation with the construction but can't say it was nice to have our morning coffee on the balcony at 07:00 with the sound of bulldozers and other loud machinery (email says the construction noise is from 08:00-17:30).
Overall, we found the room to be nice and comfortable and appreciated the small touches like the Nespresso machine and the Molton Brown toiletries. The bed was comfortable but a little soft for us as we prefer firmer beds. The balcony was average and lacked privacy; you felt like you were in the restaurant. The noise and restaurant were blocking any view that you may have, in addition to the construction zone. Â
We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and outdoor space to lounge there. Having an indoor but outdoor concept with open door was nice for this time of the year. The gym is small and functional but quite stuffy since it is behind the pool area.
The hotel offers free parking onsite but there are not many spaces and the spaces they have are very narrow and often used by restaurant guests; you may need to park on the street. Parking on the street is not that inconvenient but still worth noting.
While we enjoyed some aspects of our stay and the hotel, it was hard to overlook the negatives based on the price we paid because we were traveling during a peak time.

As others have noted, there is a massive construction project (round-about) going in directly in front of the hotel. We have family that live nearby and they said that it has been going on for at least 2 years! The hotel really should put a disclaimer up when you are committing to book. Instead they email you and inform you of the issue after and say you can cancel if you want. At $300 + per night and taxes, they really ought to offer a 20% discount on your stay. As a guest, you are not able to experience the true beauty of the oceanfront and it’s hard to look past it.
On the positive side, the room was great. Spotless and modern. Very comfortable bed. Nice to have the added touch of a Nespresso machine for your morning coffee on the balcony. The restaurant is awesome. It’s expensive, but everything we had was great. The service at the restaurant was some of the best I’ve experienced.
We will return, but not until the stalled out construction is finished.

Response from Tina Konschuh, Accounting / Finance at Qualicum Beach Inn
Responded Aug 9, 2021
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! The construction is scheduled for March - November of this year - it is not expected to go on for two years. Unfortunately due to being partially closed due to COVID for the past year, we are not able to offer discounts at this time. We are like most small businesses out there, trying to do our best now that our doors our open again. We are trying to go the extra step to make sure that our guests are fully aware of the construction. We send the notice out on our confirmations along with a follow up phone call or email to make sure everyone is aware and not surprised at check in when there is nothing we can do. We are happy that you did enjoy the room! Once the construction is over, you can come back and enjoy your Nespresso with a wide open, unobstructed view! Kind Regards, QBI

It’s hard to write a review about this restaurant.. It looks good when you walk in, the view is amazing and you imagine soft lounge music and attentive staff but you soon realize this is a place struggling to find it’s real identity.. It wants to be high end but it’s just not sure.. it thinks if you overcharge then it’s high end… In the meantime you struggle through with a fork So small I thought it was a child’s. When I asked the waitress she said ‘well we’ve run out and we’re washing the big ones’! We couldn’t trace down anyone to order wine until halfway through the meal.. Food was pretty good though overall.. The lemon tart was the star of the show! The biggest struggle (apart from the fork) was trying to speak over the overly loud and totally inappropriate music.. High end is not Benny and the jets followed by some heavy metal.. pull yourself together and decide.. Fine dining or not.. Thank goodness you have the view..

Our family of four just spent 4 nights at the Qualicum Beach Inn and we loved everything about it. The staff were super friendly, they accommodated all our requests including extending our stay last minute. Their Covid protocols were great and we felt super safe and everything was squeaky clean. The hotel is recently remodelled so it looks great and is very comfortable. The beach across the street is one of the best in the area. All in all, a perfect spot!

Good afternoon!
Thank you for your interest in booking with Qualicum Beach Inn!
At this time, for all reservations, we require a 50% non refundable deposit at time of booking.
If you have to cancel your reservation due to exposure or illness due to COVID, or if the government completely restricts travel to our area, then we would refund the deposit.
Warmest Regards!
Hi there,
We are wheelchair accessible throughout the first floor. Our main entrance is flat to suit wheelchair access, we have an accessible public washroom in the lobby alongside the regular washroom, and we have one main floor room that is made specifically for wheelchair accessibility (larger door, lower keyhole, roll-in open shower, and a larger room to account for the size of the wheelchair).
