We spent a couple of days here recently on the recommendation of a friend who lives locally. At first I was taken aback by the run down look of the exterior but as it had been recommended I waited to see our room before judging. Well, it couldn't have been more different The room was lovely. Very modern, spotlessly clean, huge and with the ocean very close by. We awoke to the sound of waves which was amazing! The seawall is damaged and fenced off and it was quite obviously a very bad storm to do such damage but it is clear that the town has to do the repair so the motel isn't to blame for that. In any case it was a 2 minute walk to the beach so it wasn't an issue. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our only night at the Sand Pebbles Inn. It was our first time in Qualicum Beach. At first I was a little put off by the exterior as we approached the Inn as is looked a little run down but the room inside was very nice and comfortable. I think it was updated recently. Unfortunately we were not made aware that the Seawall had collapsed recently so unfortunately even though we had an ocean view it was obstructed by orange netting contouring the area to be repaired and no one could use that sitting area which is one of the nice feature of the Inn. I am only giving a 4 and not a 5 because If I had known that I probably would of booked somewhere else, but we were only told at our arrival. We did go and take a walk on the beach to capture the beautiful sunset, we could not really take good picture off the balcony because of the Seawall but it that had not been an issue I would of given 5 stars.…
I’ve stayed a couple of times and enjoyed my stays. Every room you can look out and see the ocean. Rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. I had a small kitchen and had all the amenities needed to stay in and eat. The Sand Pebbles is on the old highway and very close to town.
We stayed at Sand Pebbles Inn for 2 nights in late August. We had a very pleasant stay all covid 19 precautions were in place, our room had a great view of the water! Room 207 has been just update beds, tv and bathroom. We really enjoyed ourselves.Restaurants all very close to hotel!Beautiful part of the world!
The exterior of the hotel is quite run-down but they appear to be working on improving things. The rooms were very nice, recently renovated with comfortable beds. There is a common area with grass, chairs and beach access. The hotel was also very quiet. Good restaurants are walking distance away and the hotel is on the oceanside pathway. Overall, an okay hotel but quite expensive given the condition of the hotel exterior
We arrived on a hot day to find they had left the curtains open on the floor to ceiling windows and doors. The sun was beating in and the room was literally about 90 degrees. They do not have air conditioning. Even with two fans the room was not tolerable until the sun went down, around 8:30 pm. We were on the ground floor. The curtains were so skimpy it was hard to maintain privacy. My husband walked our mini Aussie shepherd in the evening. As he passed a small, partially enclosed grassy area on the hotel property, an employee’s bulldog ran out and attacked our dog. When my husband intervened, he was bitten twice. The hotel manager did not apologize for the attack and was unhelpful, to say the least. This was, all in all, a very bad experience. I awarded one star for the comfy bed.…
We stayed for 3 nights in August. Our room opened up directly on to the Ocean front, which was only 7 feet away, guarded by a 6 ft seawall. The room had recently been updated with new furniture and a new bathroom, and there was plenty of hot water for a shower. We had a king size bed which was very comfy. There was direct sun all day until sunset. People were swimming and paddle boarding until 9 pm, the water was so warm when the tide came in. The staff and owner were friendly and helpful. The grounds are well maintained. The Motel is following Covid 19 protocols and you need to be out of your room for 3 hours before they will enter for maid service, however they will come to your door and bring fresh towels or you can pick them up at the office, which is what we did. We ended up going to Parksville, about a 9 minute drive for dinners as most of the restaurants in Qualicum beach were only open Thursday to Sunday. There is a beach restaurant close, about a 5 minute walk called The Shore which had decent Fish & Chips and burgers, you may want to try that. It is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week.…
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a few days and while the outside looks a little wornout, the rooms were amazing. The interiors were all newly renovated with tons of room. Ann the rooms open up to the water which is accessible by an aluminum stairs. The bed was comfortable and at least our room had a stove, oven and fridge with several sets of dishes thrown in. A microwave and flat screen tv topped things out. We liked the place so much we are going back at the end of the month.
The Sand Pebbles is undergoing renovation, with only parts of the motel open at a time, but there was no renovation noise. New furniture was being put into some of the rooms during our visit. In the morning and evening the loudest sounds with the balcony door open were the waves rolling in on the beach. Our king-bedded room looked new except for the kitchen equipment and was larger than we expected. The bathroom fixtures are modern and the shower stall is excellent. The view out towards the Gulf Islands over a grassy courtyard is as good as it gets. The balcony carpet was old and loose, due for replacement, but the balcony was still a pleasant place to sit. There are several restaurants nearby, some in takeout mode only at the moment, and Qualicum Beach remains a more interesting town than its better known neighbour, Parksville. Hotel staff were not masked but would not enter our room unless we had been out for at least three hours. There is presently no maid service. There are no inside corridors, so our only indoors contact was at check-in. Try to avoid a room above the office. Although all the guest rooms are non-smoking, the owners smoke outside on their patio below, and the smoke will drift up onto the balcony and through the balcony doors.…
Great location , ocean at your doorstep. Clean rooms. Nice little yard. Liked the relaxing chairs provided so that we could kick back and look out over the water. Friendly staff. Left my retainers lying on the bed and staff called me.
