The lower suites are walk on waterfront with sliding patio doors opening to our manicured lawn. You have your choice of bachelor, one bedroom or two bedroom suites. Every room has cable TV and high-speed internet access should you get tired of watching the wildlife on the beach or the spectacular sunsets. This is an older family type accommodation. Lisa and Lou the owners were very kind and hard working. We rented 2 rooms # 104 & # 106 for 2 days. The rooms were very clean and perfect for our visit. Great beds, stocked kitchen with everything you need. Bathrooms were clean and nice towels. Community barbecue on the waterfront deck was great. Chairs and loungers were awesome to sit outside and catch the sunshine. Yard was nicely maintained with flowers and trees. We would definitely recommend this place and stay again if in the area

An oldeŕ 60's style motel but recently renovated, very clean, accommodating host and right on the ocean. Price very reasonable.
So many are for a minimum of 2 or 3 days, which doesn't fit when you're on the road

A COVID getaway, and a lovely place to do it in. Spotlessly clean, gorgeous view and lovely, comfortable rooms! Close to town and to various attractions in the area. Nice walks close by as well. Barbecue, picnic tables and decking available.

We stayed for three nights in July. The room was clean, well-equipped, and spacious. The balcony was fantastic, with a view over the beach and sea. We could walk to places to eat. The owners/ managers (?) were responsive and helpful. Because of the pandemic, we didn't have daily service, but really...who needs it? We will be back.

Representing a group of Sorority ladies anxious to go on a ladies get-away in Qualicum,on October 2, 2015 I booked five rooms and paid the required $500.00 deposit which was processed by Buena Vista the next day. The booking was for July 17, 18 and 19th 2016, thus nine months hence. In May 2016 I sent an email indicating the names of the ladies occupying the rooms booked. The response from the owner was a one-line email stating they were fully booked and could not accommodate us. Phone-calls and a number of emails were ignored for four days until I was finally notified that the rooms would be occupied by the executive of a hot-rod car show and if we found other accommodation they would transfer our deposit there. We were also told that our Sorority ladies should not be visiting that particular weekend as the town would be very busy. In summary no apologies were made and the conversation with a most belligerent owner was not professional to say the least.
I would certainly discourage anyone from making reservations at Buena Vista by the Sea in Qualicum.

We made the reservation from Calgary Alberta by Phone, all was discussed including the parking of my full size pickup truck to be parked in front of the office, all good then.August 6 as scheduled we arrived at the place Buena Vista by the Sea in Qualicum Beach to be greeted by the owner Claire, as a owner and business person she was very nice showing us the room, which nothing wrong with the room, small but clean, the question of the parking was asked and Claire she made sure I was gone get the front office parking until she called her husband up to move his car over to make room for my truck to get it off the road, this man should never be in a resort accommodation position let alone being an owner, the most rudest person we ever encountered in the 15 years we been going to Qualicum Beach, starting shouting about his $90.000 car,(what about my $76.000 truck?) I will not move my car for nobody, they can leave,I don’t care ecc ecc and this is not the end,on the phone Claire she quoted me $800 + tax of $116 for a total of $916,when I asked for my refund she had charged me $1116 on my visa. To complete all this, the same day we went to get grocery at the local market and talking with some of the staff there, the question was asked where we were staying and we told them, and told them about the Buena Vista at the Sea what happened, the lady at the cash and other staff members response was” you are not the first one to get this rudeness from them, they are well knowing here to be rude and abrupt with tourist”
No kids allowed ,if we stayed , we had to meet our grandkids at the beach because they were not allowed to come to the room, in all the so called Robbie the owner thought we didn't have a place to stay that night,WRONG ,we end up where we always stay for better place, less money and in the company of our twin grandkids.

I have 25 years in International Hotel Management.
I was decieved by the exterior of the building frontage to then find a fabulously elegant and clean oceanfront suite. The facility was immaculate - I know where to look. I was amazed by the view and the quality of the fixtures and finishes. The service was refined and not bothersome. First rate fresh coffee for the suite at check-in and we never saw the Inneeper again. She was very pleasant and informative. The townsite is lie a dream come true. Clean and very wonderful shops. I would recommend this little gem to anyone with a discerning eye for hotel quality. Rate was also superb!

Our visit to this beautiful and quaint property started well, but soured badly when on the second day of our booked and paid for 3 night stay, we were asked to find other accommodations as the manager said he had some how double booked the room we were to stay in. Our 3 night stay was made a week in advance by calling the hotel and speaking directly to this manager after initially trying to book on line. He informed us that the online booking schedule might not be updated and that he tracked the actual bookings manually. When we did not receive the promised confirmation by phone or by e-mail after 3 days we phoned the manager and he said not to worry as we were confirmed by him. Upon arrival we confirmed with the manager and paid for our 3 nights and assumed all was well. On the 2nd day of our stay we were then informed of the "error" on booking and asked to find our own accommodations for the third night. After our insistence the manager did finally help us secure a room nearby but we spent that afternoon in disbelief, altering our plans, checking out a new place and getting our refund for the third night of our stay at Buena Vista. It was sad that no consideration or compensation was offered and that upon checking out we felt rushed out as it seems the rooms were booked and most likely for a longer period than the one single night remaining on our stay.

I sent my parents to this so called "resort" for their anniversary after looking at the web page which I know now is very deceiving to say the least.
The balcony was so dirty that they could not use it. There was no tissue or shampoo, the soap was the smallest, cheapest bar possible, and there was no radio.
The "beach" is nothing but rock, you could not walk along this area at all.
They advertise themselves as a "resort" but when you pull up to the front the sign says "motel," which better describes them. How or why they try to call themselves a "resort" is a mystery!
The front is right on a busy road with very limited parking, so small and limited that my dad worried about someone on the main road hitting the back of his car when parked there!
My parents were VERY disappointed, and so am I that I wasted my money and they had to spend 2 nights & their Anniversary here.

We didn't see any dogs here but it was very quiet , it would be perfect , the owners are very eager to help , so you could ask them .good luck
I believe it is probably referring to the drop to the beach from the decks that have a small enough gap for a child 1-3 to squeeze under the rail and fall. Also stairs to beach may be an issue, but I would think not a big one.
I am not sure but there were paddle boarders and kayakers out front and this is a beautiful sand beach with the sandcastle building championships on now in Parksville, BC within walking distance and you can pm them and ask, is Canada..eh , Island living and loving it, cheers.
