A COVID getaway, and a lovely place to do it in. Spotlessly clean, gorgeous view and lovely, comfortable rooms! Close to town and to various attractions in the area. Nice walks close by as well. Barbecue, picnic tables and decking available.
The good: - property was very pretty and gardens fairly well maintained; - there was a common patio area with lots of seating and a nice view of the ocean; - beds were comfortable. The NOT good: - when I asked the owner/manager what their Covid 19 Safety Plan was, he asked me why I wanted to know; - we were promised Horby Suite - top floor, ocean view. When we arrived, were told it wasn't available, and were given a suite on the ground floor - Malaspina Suite. I explained we had an email confirmation, stating we would be in Hornby, but manager/owner repeated it wasn't available. - no screen door on patio door, so couldn't have it open due to wasps/flies; - no exhaust fan or range hood on stove; - oven was dirty; burned on food on the bottom, which was hidden with tin foil; when we used oven, suite filled with smoke and set off smoke alarm; - cooking spoon and colander were dirty (colander had dried food in it); - crumbs under kitchen table; chair legs uneven so chairs wobbled; - bathtub drain cover had long hair in it; - spilled "something" (looked like dried blood) on wall and baseboard by bed in living room; - only place to sit in living room was on a couch which, when you sat on it, sunk down so far it was difficult to get back up; - not very soundproof re people walking back and forth above, so sleep was poor; - barbecue in common area had a lot of burned-on food on grills.…
We stayed for three nights in July. The room was clean, well-equipped, and spacious. The balcony was fantastic, with a view over the beach and sea. We could walk to places to eat. The owners/ managers (?) were responsive and helpful. Because of the pandemic, we didn't have daily service, but really...who needs it? We will be back.
Stayed here for a night with my daughter in the Malaspina suite. It's described as a 2 bedroom suite but one bed is actually in the living room so is not private. Wasn't really an issue for us but some people may want more privacy. Suite was clean and quite large. Nice little kitchen area and a great sized bathroom. Private bedroom is a good size as well. Beds were comfy and there were lots of towels which was great. Hand soap, small packs of shampoo/conditioner and small bars of soap were provided. Wifi worked really well. Room is on the bottom floor - we did hear footsteps from above but not bad at all. It was very quiet at night. Courtyard area and views of the beach are beautiful. All in all we were very happy with our choice and would definitely stay here again if in the area!…
Lovely view of ocean and mountains, clean suite... a bit expensive. Owner needs to be better at customer service. 2 gals with lots of bags - got no help to our room... Not worth the money in my opinion.
We arrived mid afternoon ,tired having driven a long way , the owner showed us to our room explaining he had upgraded us to his best suite!,it was really great , a very kind thing to do, overlooking the sea with a large patio , the suite was wonderful , large bed ,really comfy ,fully equipped kitchen , lovely lounge area , bathroom and a tv which actually had all the channels working , a great thing as most don't,! The place was like a new pin, sparklingly clean ,we loved it, it was quiet despite being near the road on the back , it was near the village and shops/supermarket and had a few restaurants nearby , we just wished we had booked more than the one night , it was so relaxing , we will next year when we visit Vancouver Island again to be sure.many thanks
We thought we’d give this place a try for a one-night stay to visit family. In the end, we were so pleased with the find and will definitely stay here again if we’re in Qualicum Beach. First the location is wonderful, if you simply want to sit on the lovely decks and watch the ocean. Or you can take a stroll for some peaceful beach combing - we did at sunset and saw lots of sea life, including clams to dig in season. We had some food with us and used the complimentary barbecue and outdoor dining area for a lovely seaside dinner. The morning was a treat with steaming coffee ( our room had a full size drip coffee maker and coffee provided) enjoyed on the outside deck again. I’d recommend a room on the lower oceanside so you can fully enjoy the lovely setting and amenities.
Loved the Buena Vista Hotel. We had a ground floor unit with one bedroom and a bed in the living room. Kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of room for four people. Perfect location on the beach and lovely patio and gardens.
What a sweet suite! Right on the sea as mentioned. All the amenities and many new features in #104 - like carpet, faucets, paint, fridge, and more. We were so impressed with the love given to the entire property by the owners. The decks are huge and the bbq’s so handy. We will definitely return! 10/10!
We spent one night at this nice hotel. We were visiting Qualicum Beach for a family occasion and just needed a place to stay overnight and this hotel was perfect. We had a 2 bedroom suite which included a full kitchen and a large balcony overlooking the beach, it was quiet, clean and very well priced. There is no pool or restaurant, the garden area was nice and had a gate that led to directly to the beach. I recommend this hotel.
