We booked the cottage at Suite Amour Hobby Farm to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The afternoon of our arrival in Parksville – Qualicum though, we received a call from the owner about being behind in cleaning the cottage and needing more time. We agreed to delay our arrival for another couple of hours, until between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. When we got to the property around 5:20 pm we were greeted with the cottage still not being ready to occupy. Time continued to pass (it is a nice field but loses novelty as one keeps staring at it for close to an hour), until around 6:30 pm when the owner mentioned not everything was finished, but we could enter the cottage. Later that evening the owner returned with some missing items; we later discovered other things were gone like the guest book which had, for example, Wi-Fi codes (we sent a text that night, no response). What started out as a day of excitement was now an evening of unpacking, frustration, and lost time. The next day we did some local tours, and, on our return, it was raining, so we figured it could be a good night to watch a movie as the interior is best described as “snug”. We texted the owner about the Netflix service. We were directed to the owners own Netflix account, evident with the personal profiles; and later encountered a “too many are using this account, try back later” block. So, movies were out, as was the Wi-Fi service. In the end, disappointments kept building up; and while we had paid $800 which the owner kept in full (even after that first night, with her mentioning more than once a discount), we left early, going to a local resort to salvage our anniversary celebration. Best decision!…
I've loved all of my stays at Suite Amour. Our stay in a Private guest cottage with mini-kitchenette lets us prep & cook as little or as much as we want. Sit outside on a private deck & enjoy a glass of wine and watch the horses. Comfortable queen bed with great bedding. Private, 4 piece bathroom with spa soaps. Great location. Close to Coombs, Parksville, Cathedral Grove. Great hosts who are very helpful and accommodating.
My husband and I made a short trip out to the island to check out some campgrounds to possibly park our trailer over the winter. Lovely quiet surroundings with lots of trees with only two cottages plus the host's residence. Kitchen is small but well appointed. Nice little patio where we ate most of our meals. Judy is a gracious and friendly host. Any time we asked her a question that she didn't know the answer to she came bustling back within 5 minutes with twice as much information as we needed! We elected to not get the breakfast option as we tend to be early risers, but one day she gave us some fresh baked scones anyways and they were delicious. Free wifi was decent. Highly recommend. :D
Off the beaten-track was lovely! We stayed in a 1-room cottage that was very comfortable. Although 1 website referred to this venue as a B&B, there is no complementary breakfast. However, each cottage has a kitchenette, which allowed us to prepare our own breakfasts and suppers. A BBQ is also available for use. Our bed was quite soft (not our preference) and did slope to the centre. Judy, our hostess, was very welcoming and most gracious! This location was wonderful as we could easily make day-trips (e.g. Tofino, Parkesville, etc) from there.
The accommodations here are perfect if you want a peaceful and private get away. Absolutely lovely cabin with a perfect kitchenette, very comfy bed, and we even got the chance to meet the animals on her farm. Judy went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful and we definitely plan to return again one day!
My wife and I stayed in one of the cottages run by Judy. Judy is a great host, very warm and friendly. Lovely home made fruit bread. Situated about 15 minutes drive from Qualicum it is located in a quiet spot with just the birds and wildlife to be heard. Very comfortable bed, clean and well presented bathroom. Small kitchenette area with kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave. Small seating area outside but you have the advantage of the garden and outside fire pit. Compact accomodation but very good value for money. Nothing too much trouble for Judy. Highly recommended accomodation in the Qualicom area. The nicest host encountered on our month long stay in Canada.
My husband and I decided we needed a nice quiet Christmas all to ourselves, so we searched and found Suite Amour Hobby Farm on line and went to visit the place before we booked it for our Christmas holiday. Judy our host, was extremely welcoming and helpful! She goes out of her way for her clients! We loved the little cabin we stayed in. It was furnished beautifully and very clean and comfortable. The modern kitchenette had all of the amenities that we needed, and the new 'quiet' electric heater kept us toasty warm! The thing we loved the most was the peacefulness of this location. We will visit again!
Thank you Judy for a wonderful stay in one of your clean and cozy cottages. It was a pleasure meeting you...never could we ask for a more down to earth and friendly hostess. Your lovely cottage is so very peaceful and tranquil...exactly what we needed. Thanks also for sharing your amazing bran loaf...so very delish! You can count on us to come back! Thank you ever so much again!
If you are planning on staying in the Qualicum Beach area, the place to stay is Suite Amour run by Judy Bombay. It is a hobby farm outside of the town centre but close enough to drive to all the amenities. The cabins are lovely and overlook the barn and horses so it is very peaceful and relaxing. Judy is an excellent host and caters to your every needs. She bakes wonderful cookies! We also enjoyed her very friendly and affection dog, Ruby. We have stayed there 3 times and have enjoyed every minute. Bill and Mary Lou
My husband Mike and I (Noreen) love the country, we love peace and quiet, and we love a comfortable, clean cottage. And guess what, here at Suite Amour, we got it all. Yup! Not to mention that Judy (the owner) and her husband Mark were simply amazing people. As we entered the cottage, our jaws dropped to the floor. This little cabin was spectacular. Something you would see in a magazine. It was filled with lots of love, special care, and attention to every little detail. Judy was always there for us for whatever we needed. Not to mention her special homemade breakfasts...who does that...wow! What a great way to start our day. On the last day, Judy even joined us for coffee and a little chit-chat. She is such a pleasure to be around. The peace and quiet, and the smell of nice fresh air, make this place in the country, out of this world and leaves you wanting to go back.....soon!!! Thanks so much Judy. P.S. Mike really enjoyed his talks with Mark.…
