Much of the furniture is old and dated. Beds are comfortable. Rooms were clean. Our maid was very helpful. Service was excellent. Close to airport and everything you need in town. Definitely not fancy but pleasantly surprised.

We had booked 4 nights at this hotel several months in advance of our visit to Gander because we wanted to make sure we were able to get a room with a kitchen. When we arrived they could not accommodate us because "an existing guest had extended their stay via the website" so our suite was not longer available. The manager's solution was to offer us a suite for the 1st night, a room at the Albatross Inn for the 2nd night, and then back to a suite for the 3rd and 4th nights. This was not acceptable to us. To give the manager credit, she did try to call other hotels in Gander and was able to find us a room at the Comfort Inn next door. Although it did not have a full kitchen, it did at least have a mini-fridge, microwave and two burner stove. She did her best for us, but this NEVER should have happened in the first place. Perhaps they need to redesign their website so that this doesn't happen to other travellers. When you book a room several months in advance you expect it to be available when you show up.

We needed to sleep in gander and only was a room in this hotel. It is terrible. You have to make check in in another hotel (half an hour line) there is no lobby, or food or any kind of service and we paid $200 CAD. They are more like appartments, very old and ugly building, terribly noisy, we couldn t sleep. Go to confort inn, much better and cheaper. NEVER WILL GO BACK

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback of your stay with us. We appreciate all feedback positive and negative, as it helps us provide a better experience for our valued guests. My sincere apologies that you encountered some issues during your stay. Yes the Irving West does have more of an apartment feel then a traditional hotel as it was recently renovated to better accommodate guests visiting for longer stays. The property has been renovated from 52 hotel rooms to 26 suites. For this reason the Irving West doesn’t have some of the same amenities you would see at other locations like check in on-site, lobby, etc. The suites consist of one or two bedrooms with adjoining living/kitchen area and are outfitted with full size appliances and we have equipped each suite down to the smaller details, like providing a can opener. With these newly renovated suites the Irving West Hotel is the ideal accommodation for stays of one week, one month, a year or longer. In regards to food the Irving West does have on site “Legends Lounge & Grill” which features a delicious pub style menu. I am sorry that your stay with us wasn’t completely satisfactory but I hope you enjoyed your time in Gander. I hope you see fit to give us another try in the future.

Had a great server Tammy. I had burger fries gravy caesar salad. Didn't like the fake bacon bits in the salad. The fries were great the gravy as well. But the burger lacked taste. Looked good but not great. Good amount of food for the money

We were pleasantly surprised. Checking in at the Albatross was a bit of a strange one & I wouldn't want to walk across with luggage. I loved the space. The rooms contained everything we wanted & needed. It was clean & the bed was comfortable. The meal at the Albatross was amazing & the staff were very friendly. There is no doubt that renovation is needed on the outside. The balconies are peeling paint & cracked concrete. However it did the job for us.

First of all check in is at another hotel. Upon arriving for check in we noticed a sign that said breakfast special $5.95, but that was only for guests staying at that hotel. There is no restaurant at Irving West and you don't get any specials at the restaurant. We figured we would have should have got the breakfast special but no. We were told it was renovated and so it was but the hotel is still really old. The bathrooms haven't been touched. Bed was comfortable, sheets left something to be desired. Look a little worn. The shower was good although there wasn't much room in the bathroom. The lady looking after the rooms was really helpful and did a good job. The rooms are clean just dated. Gander needs a new hotel!

i was very disappointed with this place . Kathy at check in was pleasant and very accommodating.. However the place is very old. The kitchen sink drain was not connected. They offered to move us but since we were only here one night we decided to keep this room. However we realized we had no waste baskets and then 2 lamps were without light bulbs. They sent someone immediately but by then we were not pleased with this place.

Rose the cleaning lady was OUTSTANDING!! The rooms were always clean and tidy. we stayed for 6 nights and if we had to do another extended stay in a gander hotel this would be the place. Our room was close to the lounge and during the weekend we heard very little noise in the room.

I've stayed at the Irving West on many occasions during my visits to Central Newfoundland and have always enjoyed my stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and I’ve always enjoyed visiting the Legend's Lounge. This is not a 5star hotel but like I said it’s clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.
