We regularly visit Auberge de la Vallée, located next to the Bathurst Regional Hospital, around lunch time or at night and have wonderful home-cooked meals at this place. The service is impeccable and food & wine are extremely good and affordable. It is very different from many of the other establishments in Northern New Brunswick. I especially enjoyed my double-shot espresso and my crème brûlée dessert. Probably one of the best places for espresso, café au lait and café latte in Bathurst. I'd highly recommend.

I've stayed here twice and enjoyed the in-house relaxing spa and sitting area in the evening and the French bistro cafe in the morning for breakfast. Their expresso is excellent and service is quiet and efficient.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway. We had booked an ATV day trip that we would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the area and to take in the beautiful scenery. Dominique was very knowledgeable about the area and the surroundings; he also seemed organized as lunch, snacks and coffee stops were all carefully planned in order to give us a chance to relax and enjoy. When we got back to the hotel, we also got a chance to enjoy the sauna, pool and jacuzzi. The hotel room was very comfortable and clean. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place looking to get away for the weekend.

Third time to la Vallee and very disappointed to say it is really run down currently. The last time I was there was 6-7 years ago. Sewer smell in the hallway by the cottages. Needs a lot of updates like paint, flooring and in desperate need of TLC. The upside was the spa treatments. I’ll try somewhere else next time.

The ladies are the front desk are polite and courteous however the management is terrible. Extremely rude- not customer focused in the least. After paying $130+ for one night there was not even any SOAP in the room, not one bar. Its a very simple thing when all you'd like to so is come in off the road take a shower and relax. The fans are extremely loud- enough to interrupt sleep and there is ZERO soundproofing in the room- you can actually hear the reception area from the rooms. would not be back, would NOT recommend. The brand new Best Western in Bathurst is a much better place to stay.

Firstly thank you for the comments regarding the reception, customer service is extremely important to us, I would just like to clarify your remarks, you forget to say that you wanted to initially cancel your reservation for 2 nights one hour before check-in because your mother was supposedly sick when you wanted to replace already staying at the new hotel which you refer, refusing to pay and threatening to put bad reviews on the internet if we refused, we have then propose to pay 1 night and come anytime you want, to spend it, you refused and came anyway. The evening you came you were the only rented room in this area and there was no noise at the reception, housekeeping control everything daily and the soap never fails in the rooms. Every hotels have a cancellation policy, and when you cancel one hour before check-in you have to pay a fee, in general I do my best to please my customers and I take very seriously all remarks, but in your case you write anything in social media because you did not want to pay the fee.

I will start with the positive, The cabing was amazing, very spacious and comfortable, we had the last cabing that sleeps 6. Very clean. Salt water pool and hot tub were fun. Estetician Dany is amazing!!! and also one massage therapist I can't remember her name. I was 100% satisfied with my massage and facial.

We enjoyed our day/night at this Spa only because we were together and made the best of it...
5 girls booked a spa day and overnight stay about 1.5 months ago. We were so excited for this weekend only to find out 2 hours before our appointments that one massage therapist called in sick and they had to cancel all the services of one person. She ended up waiting in the room for us. It was not possible to book our services together so we ended up being seperated over different times. No wine was offered nor were we told we could bring our own, we were offered water in tiny paper cups. both receptionists seem to have no people skills... they are soo shy that they can't even look you in the eye very unprofessional. They should aslo be wearing SPA atire. Presentation was not very inviting. One massage therapist was very *lazy* kept yanning while giving massages and she actually fell asleep let out a little snoar and woke up... couldn't breath due to a cold so the girls heard heavy breathing for the duration of the massage... Imagine wishing the massage would end?!!

The spa decor is outdated. When leaving in the morning there was a bad sell throughout the spa.. I'm sure glad I wasn't coming in that day.

I wouldn't suggest this spa to any of my friends. I would not return.

Suggestions for the Spa :
Have a backup massage therapist on call
Have more mature staff greeting customers and working the evening shift.
get rid of the smells
have better setting for groups

First, I thank you for your comments on the Inn, we are currently doing everything in our power to give to all our clients, the more comfort possible and we are very serious about the site’s cleanliness. Indeed, one of our beautician called in sick only 2 hours ahead of time to advise us that she was too sick to work on that day. We offered to replace the scheduled ‘Star massage’ by a relaxation massage, which was accepted at first by the client, but then declined. In a small town like Bathurst, it is very difficult (almost impossible) to have competent on-call staff. I understand your deception, I apologized for it and I also had a chat on that afternoon with one of the girls where I proposed discounts on the next treatments taken at the Auberge. Concerning the Massage Therapist you’re talking of, I am very surprised, our certified Massage Therapists all have between 2 to 10 years of experience and all receive great comments by the majority of our clients. Some of them are even booked until June 2014! The spa offers a spring water fountain, which we find in many other facilities and the tea is always offered in the relaxation room by our beauticians and massage therapists. Concerning the receptionists, they are indeed professionally young, but very serious and very implied and they don’t have to deal with the clients’ problems, I have been present during all your stay (until midnight at the reception) and could have discussed all these points with you at the time of check-out where no one made any remarks or asked to see me. About the odors. We have certain times where we have problems with the ventilations. We are starting to work on that soon, the material ordered since September, coming from Moncton. Generally speaking, I take notes on every remarks you gave, I have been the owner of the Auberge since now 5 months and the satisfaction and the comfort of our clients are our priority. I hope that I will be able to discuss with you on all these points and that we will see you again at the Auberge where I could indeed offer you a good glass of wine with a discount on your treatments.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on our way to Nova Scotia. We found it online and booked without knowing much. I can't say enough good things about this place!
The room was wonderful and the hotel was wonderful. The food? Oh my! Everything is home made and we had many meals in their bistro and they were all incredible! The seafood pasta is to die for. :)
I also had a few spa treatments and they were fantastic.
I would highly recommend both the hotel and the restaurant to anyone in the Bathurst area.

We stayed here before & after our tour around the Gaspe. We had 3 rooms, all very nice, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed being able to relax outdoors at the many patio tables & chairs provided, and in the spa area. We loved the food and the atmosphere and the excellent company of the owners, Dominique & Nathalie, their daughter & their dog. We felt very much at home and would highly recommend this Auberge to anyone.

This hotel is comfortable and charming. The French owners welcome you in a very family and welcoming manner. Food is really lovely as the owner prepares it herself "à la francaise". Don't miss her quiche Lorraine!
The only down point is the noise of the air ventilation but otherwise simply a lovely and relaxing stay! Merci!!!

First, let me start by saying that I'm not related to or personally know the owners of the establishment. That said......

Let me start by saying some things are true. The rooms are a little thin, but that is mostly due to other guests slamming doors and not being courteous to other guests. Not really something that can be completely controlled by the owners. As for being smelly (the spa), or rude or not attentive (the owners), I can say with absolute certainty this is flat out a lie!! My wife and I visited the establishment for an entire week while visiting from NJ, USA. The rooms are very reasonably priced and I would gladly pay more, because I have for establishments of much lesser quality and caliber, unfortunately for me. (Note to Dominique and Nathalie, please don't charge me more!.lol)

As for the spa, I can't say I used it, but my wife had a half hour massage and slept for 3 hours that afternoon! She said she hadn't felt so relaxed in years!

As for being kid friendly, I couldn't ask for more! Our room did not have a refrigerator or microwave, and it didn't matter, because the owner, Dominique, allowed us to use his staff lunch room with fridge and microwave, located at the bottom of the stairs from our room, ANY TIME WE WANTED! I mean.....nobody does that! And we never felt like we were imposing or annoying. Always glad to help, and always with a smile.

The heated pool and whirlpool tub were truly amazing! And the view of the grounds and sunlight in the morning were just perfect for the ambiance of the retreat.

We dined at the bistro on our final day.....and I am so regretting that we didn't eat there every single day! To Nathalie....what an amazing cook you are! Where else can you get a steak perfectly cooked, and generous portion of homemade perfectly seasoned French fries, for a measly 12 bucks! And I must add here that my wife had a spaghetti bolognese and vegetable soup, and we shared a homemade pizza, and outside of NYC it was the best Italian food we've ever had. All together the bill was under 40 bucks. If you can find better value for return on quality, please tell me and I'll be there tomorrow!

We were curious about the other areas of the retreat, but rather than tell us, "maybe in the future...." Nathalie took us on a guided tour. I literally felt like a VIP! We were personally shown the spa, after hours, and shown everything it had to offer. IT WASN'T EVEN OPEN!!! And on our final day, when I asked about the other chalets....I was then taken on a tour of one that was vacant, for the next time we visit!

Every time I asked, the owners were available, attentive, and even willing to forgo personal time to meet our needs. They live on the premises on the lower floor of the hotel! It's impossible to not be taken care of! Yes they have young staff, but they were always professional and well dressed from what I saw. And if your soap is out, god gave you a mouth, so open it and ask for some! Some of these other reviewers were obviously staying at some other Location.

I pride myself in being an honest person, and well traveled. I've been in NYC, Hong Kong, Montreal, Toronto, And in Bathurst, NB I received some of the best service To date.

Thank you Dominique and Nathalie for bringing some of your European experience to this corner of the world!
