The two bedroom cabin on the lake is in a beautiful setting. The house was very small, and slapped together with different floor tiles. The entire house needs to be updated. The house was clean and the bed was okay. the small kitchen was stocked with a few items so we were able to make coffee. This will work if you are looking for a weekend by the lake, maybe fishing. It felt too small for the 4 adults.

We stayed at this motel during our transit from Ottawa to Banff. This is a perfect place off the Highway 17 for a good night's sleep. I have seen several RVs parked guess you can also do camping here. It does have a beautiful water body in front of the rooms.
Our room had two bedrooms (4 beds) and it could be really great for family of 4.

Loved the cabin - we had 2 bedrooms, a great sitting area and a small function kitchen. We especially appreciated the BBQ on the deck. Great place to prepare a quick dinner. Comfortable sleep. Great photos in the morning and then off on our long drive. Very friendly people when we signed in as well. Definitely recommend this place!

Great weekend get away. Spacious and clean cabins which included everything you need. Owners were amazing going above and beyond. Beautiful location and grounds with an unbelievable view from all cabins. Swimming was great off the dock. Will definitely be back!

We stayed at this place last year and found it adequate for one night while travelling west. We recommended it to friends for their trip this year. I spoke with them after the trip and heard the following. After checking in they went to their cabin. It was filthy, the tv did not work and the water was undrinkable. They made a pot of coffee then went for dinner in Wawa. Over dinner they decided to not stay and move on. They checked out and drove 2 hours to a different place. The next day they noticed a charge on their credit card from Makiebares. When they called back to inquire. They were told that they had stayed for 3 1/2 hours, used the bed and left the place a mess. All not true. They were in cabin 6 which I know from our stay was rented out to construction workers. Bookings.com would not support their complaint. They were ripped off. BEWARE.

The view from my cabin was something else. Look at the pics I posted. It was such an idyllic cabin during any time but.... in fall it is spectacular. If you are looking for fancy hotel type amenities it is not for you but for people passing through, fishing folk, camping folk as well as people like myself who spend a few days hiking and trails, with my dog... this is simply great ....for the dog and me.

The cabins may be rustic but it had all the amenities. Both bedrooms were well stocked with everything. Even extra comforters. There is just one pillow per bed so bring your own if you need more. The tiny but functional kitchen had everything too. Even down to a Keurig machine with the Kcups that they supplied .

Towels and furniture was clean and so was the barbecue outside. Except for bringing my food and personal toiletries, I could have stayed a month comfortably. I wasn't expecting Hilton or Mariott style hotels so I was not disappointed. In fact I loved it a lot. The hosts were very kind and gracious too.

For fishing folk, there is a floating deck to launch your boats. Wifi is strong to keep in touch but not to download or watch movies. The water tastes terrible but then again its a cabin and hot a fancy hotel. Bring your own bottled water and boil water for tea and cooking.

All in all, for the price and the spectacular view of the lake and the fact that I could take my dog with me and the peace and joy I got here, it was wonderful.

Rustic but comfortable. Staff is wonderful and very accommodating. A wonderful weekend getaway. A beautiful view of Cattail Lake from each cabin. Not fancy but cabins are clean and well equipped. A wonderful place for pets as well. Never seen black flies like this. Been here twice and would definitely come back

Very old cabins, no potable water, no air conditioning and it's very hot in July / August in Ontario. Old, low beds, threadbare blankets. Very old, uncomfortable kitchen chairs, no other chairs to sit in to watch TV. I would stay there again. Is a picturesque setting above the lake.

The cabins are set in a beautiful location overlooking the lake and I believe the new owners are doing renovations. Our cabin had a tiny kitchen which was so full of assorted crockery etc, that there was no room to actually use anything. Even worse was the tiny bathroom, half of which was taken up with the bare hot water cylinder. Everything worked okay although you could not drink the water. Bottled water was supplied. Be warned, rustic and basic not upmarket!
