Well, my three buddies and I managed to get back into Windy Point to see Rob and Stephanie and the crew thanks to Covid restrictions being eased. The weather cooperated and the fish were more than eager to nearly jump in the boat! We fished old favourite spots as well as new discoveries, and ate fresh walleye and pike every day we were there except our last day because we were saving our limit to bring home. The four of us easily caught over 500 fish for the week and as I said, we were touring around part of the time looking for new spots. We mostly used worms on jigs with Mr. Twister tails on, but they were biting on spoons, buzz baits, body baits, spinners... well, everything! Rob and Stephanie have done an amazing job of renovating and continuing to improve Windy Point, and their hard work and dedication to their clientele is beginning to pay off. The cabins and grounds have been lovingly attended to and upgrades are constant and noticeable. While we cooked for ourselves, we plan on going American Plan next time to enjoy Stephanie's fine cooking and baking, and we can't wait to get back. Boats and motors are top notch and comfortable, and Rob and dockhand Mike make sure that everything is ship-shape and ready to go for you each day. Want a shore lunch? They'll make sure you have all the fixings and firewood, just add fish. Need bait? Not a worry, it'll be waiting in your boat. Just show up, hop in and start fishing! The accommodations are clean if somewhat rustic, but indoor plumbing, propane stoves, fridges and freezers--not to mention microwaves, coffee makers, etc.--make your stay nearly like home, only on a gorgeous lake with about a billion fish!! I tend to be a fussy sleeper, but despite not being in my own bed each night I slept like a log and even my buddy's snoring couldn't keep me awake! I blame the clean, fresh air, the sound of the loons, and being exhausted after catching all those fish! We are already planning our trip for 2022, and in fact I am trying to sneak my son and I in later this year. If you've never been on a fly-in trip, you won't be disappointed in Windy Point Lodge, and once you come, you'll want to come back every year!

The trip ( May 2019 ) started with a scenic trip along Lake Superior from Sault Saint Marie to Wada. So much to see and places to stop and enjoy the scenery. A rep at the dock got us set up, helped us with our luggage and got us onto the plane. What a great ride to the lake. The flight was about 35 minutes and once again we enjoyed the scenery. Upon arriving we were greeted at the dock by the Watsons and the staff and were made to feel very welcome. Both ourselves and our luggage were delivered to our cabin. We filled out some paperwork, were assigned a boat, given a map and were shared some good fishing spots. Within an hour and a half of arriving we landed the first of 25 fish for the day. We ended up catching at least 40 walleye, pike and perch everyday. There are over 30 shore lunch spots on the lake and that was my fav part of the trip. Every evening some of the guests would join us on the dock for an evening of fishing and we would always catch quite a few fish. Boats were good with 4 stroke 20 horse and auto start. They came all equipped with everything you would need except fishing rods and tackle. The cabins were nice with full kitchens, 3 piece bath with hot and cold running water. There is also 24 hour power. A couple of nights we ate at the dining hall and the food was great. They offer both housekeeping and American plan. During our stay we always felt welcome and the owners/staff were quick to make our stay memorable. I look forward to future trips.

I've been to this lodge six times now and it never disappoints. Kabinakagami Lake has some of the best Walleye and Pike fishing you'll find in Ontario. The staff at the lodge are friendly, and the guides know the best spots to get started. I've hunted moose, bear and ducks here as well, and we've never left empty handed. I can't say enough good things about Watson's WPL.
