This is my very first ever zero review. I booked Salty Towers in February 2022 for a June 16/17, 2022 stay. About a week before I started my family holiday I received an email that the new management company (Iris Properties) was charging me an ADDITIONAL $125 ‘cleaning fee’ plus 3% processing fee. YIKES! In my original booking I was promised a welcome basket and breakfast for each family member for each night booked (like a bed and breakfast). The new management company’s booking system was not working … but they wanted their money so they kept calling and emailing to secure my credit card! There was a TONNE of emails and paperwork to confirm my original February booking. Then, when my family arrived -no welcome basket -no breakfast. After several emails and calls (during my vacation) about what I was promised in my booking, the new management company said they were not responsible for covering the basket or breakfast… and the owners were at fault for leaving advertising up in the property during our stay - the property still advertises breakfast included! If I had known the serious hassle and the last minute price increase of $125 plus 3% processing fee AND the UNDERHANDED removal of the breakfast from the original booking we would have made different arrangements … this property is not worth the cost. The new management company is TERRIBLE to deal with and we feel the management company cheated us! BUYER BEWARE HERE!…
Be forwarned. The property management has changed hands (new management takes over as of June 1st), and the experience has been abysmal. After booking the Harbourside suite (booked and paid for in February) for an August stay, I received an email this week, now months later (May), from the new property management company requesting I pay for the original booking, plus an added cleaning fee, plus a 3% service fee. There was no real discussion regarding my concerns, and no one was willing to call me; they would only respond via email. Their follow-up email that arrived a day later came with a lengthy contract and a new invoice for $699. Again, I'd already paid $542 through Booking. com. The rates shown on the website are wrong. They offer $210 a night for the room I booked, but the new management sent me a contract showing they are charging $350 a night now, plus a cleaning fee and a 3% processing fee. The latest pricing works out to $479/night, a significant increase and strange considering the room rates I found at other establishments don't come close to this. Based on their revised rates, it is cheaper to stay at the Sooke Prestige Oceanfront Resort, and there is no lengthy contract to sign. I've canceled and booked elsewhere now. Too bad, really; I was very much looking forward to this trip. I had planned to book again for my mom and me, but I won't now. I do not recommend booking here until Salty Towers' new management improves their customer service. Attempting to charge more for something that has already been paid for is not good business practice.…
Was looking forward to staying here this June. Unfortunately this week Salty Towers is now under ownership of IRIS properties. Without much warning, and close to our trip they informed me they would be charging an additional $125 cleaning fee and would not honour the original cost of the booking. Even had to ring to clarify as when they sent through the invoice it was actually $30 higher than they had stated, so seemed like they hadn't even been accurate about it being $125. It's been a great stress organizing alternative arrangements For this reason I can't recommend and suggest that people realising that the new owners are now inflating the prices in my experience. A real shame.
Stayed here with a couple buddies on a motorcycle trip around the island. Two beds and a big couch (not a pull out) was perfect for us all to have a great night sleep. Shower was awesome as well! Unreal view and the hot tub was basically hanging over the ocean. The owners were super nice and she even baked us some treats!! Highly recommended and would love to go back with my family.
The location is perfect. At the waters edge at the end of a pier Beautful sunrises with a low fog on the water. A short 5 minute drive from the centre of Sooke with deer to watch along the way. The accomodatipn was comfy but a little rustic. Breakfast was in room, make your own, continental style with homemade blueberry muffins that were excellant. The owners are friendly and very nice to talk to. Their sons run a whale watching tour boat (a 12 person zodiac) and were very knowledgeable about the area and the whales. When we saw T11 Rainy, (a transient Orca) Paul was truly excited. This is a place we will return to for a longer time and do some fishong.
I had booked this cabin for the three of us about 3 months ago with the owner who was kind enough to let us bring our small dog. Upon arrival the owner's wife questioned why there was three of us without even saying hello and told me that they were not dog friendly and one of us would have to stay with the dog at all times. I advised her that we spoke to her husband and our intentions were to be out fishing and he didn't seem to think it would be a problem. She then said that we would have to take that up with her husband and that was the last time I saw her. This was the coldest welcome we had ever received anywhere. She showed me where everything was inside and told me that she wouldn't be stopping by and we could come & see her if we needed anything. The breakfast consisted of one time only some granola with milk that was left in the fridge. We asked her if there was any issues with their wifi since we didn't want to take too much of their air time and she questioned why we were asking and if we planned to screw them over. Unbelievable!!! The cabin itself is very cozy, is in the back of the owner's house but there is no ocean view unless you use the chairs provided in front of the owner's house. It's convenient if you have a boat and need moorage then you can use their dock which was a big bonus for us and one of the main reasons we had booked with them. Their son who is super nice runs a whale watching business out of this location and is very helpful if you need anything. Very convenient location and if it was not for the ill-mannered owner I would definitely recommend it for short stays.…
What a really enjoyable getaway spot for island people. So different from places where you get to on other parts of the island. We had a short stay with our pooch, and both wished we had been able to stay longer to really appreciate the area which is Sooke. It was always "that place" at the other end of the island, and shamefully we had not investigated it sooner. The owners were exceptionally pleasant hosts and the locale was fantastic. We were even welcomed to tour the Sooke Harbour House (a place once owned by a former employer of mine), and the general atmosphere of locals was warming. We will be down there to enjoy all the Salty Towers has to offer. We actually wished we had the finances to start something similar to enjoy in our later and retiring years. We loved the walks and the closeness to the "spit"…
Just returned from a little getaway to Sooke staying at Salty Towers. We rented to cabins. Both cabins were CLEAN and had every! Every detail was thought out and provided including a basket full of goodies and breakfast items. Very nicely decorated, comfy beds and SO peaceful. Hot tub was GREAT too. Owners were friendly and helpful. We were very impressed. Definetely go back.
The hostess, Geri, was very friendly and took time to show us around completely (inside and outside). Enjoyed close proximity to the Whiffin Spit (lovely outdoor walk by the sea) and Salty Tower's own long dock. Unfortunately, did not have time to enjoy the hot tub or spacious deck reserved just for guests as were here just one night. Breakfast was generous, continental and contained something for all tastes... (for example we had: homebaked loaf, cheese, yogurt, nuts, coffee, fruit cups, butter, jam, peanut butter, milk for coffee etc.)... this truly "wow'd" us. The Harbour Suite, was a room that was cozy enough for the two of us and worked well. The decor was cottage-like and we had every amenity that we needed. Would highly recommend this relaxing place.
We couldnt say enough nice things about this B&B. Three of us comfortably spent a weekend enjoying the sites and comfort of Sooke in a well priced accommodation. Breakfast and snacks were delicious and well appreciated. 100% will return again!
