Located about 60 minutes from Victoria on the Southwest coast of Vancouver Island. All rooms have refrigerators, as well as coffee and tea. Our lush garden is surrounded by majestic old-growth forest and a lovely stream that runs along our beautiful trail to a very private beach. Book your room overlooking the ocean or the rain forest. Ocean Wilderness Inn is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the 15 minute drive from Sooke. Quiet and peaceful, the room was large and comfortable, with chairs facing the large windows with views of the water. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was to die for. Rick was friendly and helpful. And the grounds were lovely. Very pleasant stay.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights here. Karen and Rick are so friendly, helpful, and welcoming! Rick told us where to hike and Karen gave us fantastic restaurant ideas. The views are stunning. There is a nice path going down to the beach. At the beach we saw otters and seals! We could see the Washington state mountains from our room and had our normal American cell service (Verizon) because we were so close to the stares! The room was clean and the bed was so comfy. There are robes, coffee, and tea in the room. The breakfast was very tasty. Wonderful view of stars. Highly recommend!!!

Absolutely great place to stay, the view, the rooms and the hosts, all part of a great experience. Two nights only, basically too short. Extra's above standard the good advices given about our plans, a great breakfast and organizing us a breakfast to go when we wanted to leave early. Do not forget to walk down to the beach!

We stayed at Ocean Wilderness for two nights and were stuck by what a stunning location it is. Once you turn off the highway it gives the feeling of complete tranquility, with the secluded location, and garden path winding down to the ocean. Rick and Karen were great hosts with a warm welcome and great advice. Room was comfortable and well equipped. Very much enjoyed the stay.

We had a lovely visit. OWI had everything we needed - access to ocean walks, eagles, seals, hummingbirds, comfy beds, views, great breakfast, accommadating hosts, hot tub, good advice and in-room coffee. The walk down to the beach is about 300 steps so if you aren't mobile, you will have to be satisfied with the great view! But what a view!

This is the place to stay if you want a tranquil, relaxing environment with beautiful ocean views. Yet close enough to Victoria to enjoy all the sites. It's just a short walk down to the beach on a path through the surrounding forest. Rick and Karen have created a place to get away from life's daily stresses. Rick directed us to some fun activities and good places to eat. We hope to return in the future. This is a gem not to be missed.

Highlight: The personal style of Karen and Rick, we enjoyed a very warm welcome. During our entire & friendly stay, weg got lots of useful advice on dos and don'ts in the region. Good: Breakfast very delicious, fresh and with a wide choice. You enjoy it with a perfect view on the sea and if you are lucky some hummingbirds. The suite with the bathtub and view to the sea is breathtaking. The location is really in the wilderness, a creek close by and a nice foot walk down to the beach. Ok'ish: The hotel is located next to the highway, yes you are in the middle of the wilderness, but you are also exposed to traffic noises. No room service, maybe I missed this part in the description.

We spent 3 wonderful nights here in a lovely room with views down the valley to the ocean and beyond. Karen and Rick are wonderful hosts who provide lots of little extras like binoculars, robes and towels for the hot tub and torches too. The bed in our room was massive and just so comfortable - we could easily have just sat in it all day watching the ships go by and listening to the birds. But then we would have missed all the other treats like the deserted beach, the sealife, the millions of years old fossils, not to mention all the other places in the area that Rick and Karen recommended. We loved it here and would definitely like to return.

Absolutely lovely … I hope to go back one day! Ocean Wilderness Inn was so tranquil and charming it was hard to leave. My room had a beautiful ocean view, great king bed, and comfortable sitting area. I enjoyed taking the walking path down to the beach to watch seals and otters play. The owners are wonderful about sharing their knowledge of local artists, places for shopping/eating, hiking/kayaking or whatever your interests. The hot tub with ocean, forest, and garden views was a welcome retreat in the evenings.

This is a very basic bed and breakfast with rates that are overpriced. The lodging feels like a cash grab with many suites piled into one building. The ocean nearby is beautiful but definately was not impressed by the supposed ' Ocean view" The owners need to do some upkeep of the property and trim back some branches to call this a view. There is no food served at this unit and only have one restaurant that you can drive to get a meal.

Response from Rick F, Owner at Ocean Wilderness Inn
Responded Nov. 25, 2017
We are saddened by your comments about our home on the ocean. Our rates are exactly average for the area and the rooms are between 250 and 350 sq. ft. each, with their own private entrance and bath. The ocean view is clearly called out with pictures on our website and on TripAdvisor as well. While it does get overgrown from time to time, we do get trimmed up each winter as soon as it is safe to do so. Spring and Summer are the best times to visit. We serve wonderful breakfasts during the summer season and there are actually two restaurants close to us and six or seven great spots to eat within 10 minutes drive. Perhaps if you stay with us again, we will have the time to point out some of the amenities available like the hot tub, quiet glen in the forest or the stream that runs down to the ocean on the west side of the property. Safe travels, Rick and Karen
