We just got back from a three night stay at Fossil Bay. Due to Covid our annual trip to Mexico was cancelled so we decided to do a Staycation, we tossed between Point no Point and Fossil Bay, we decided on Fossil Bay since it was smaller and adults only. We are so happy we did.. This is a rustic cabin on the cliff above the ocean. The cabin is dated but very clean and very comfortable everything you need is there. The pictures on the website are exactly what you get, though the bedspread was new. There are 6 cabins, we were in cabin two and you would not know there was another person at this resort, at no time did we see or hear anybody, if there weren’t cars parked in the parking lot I would have thought we had this place to ourselves. It is so quiet and so secluded, we woke up went in the hot tub then we went to a beach and then went back in the hot tub then had dinner and then went back in the hot tub which has a stunning view. 2 km from Sandcut Beach and 5 km from French Beach.
If you want a romantic getaway this is definitely a nice place to get to. We will definitely go back.

Had a wonderful, relaxing 3 night stay at this beautiful location again. The views are spectacular, and the hot tub on the deck is a perfect way to enjoy them. We visited last year, and were so happy to return this year. These cabins have all the basics supplies covered to cook your own meals. We do bring our own small barbecue for grilling on the deck though. We found the bed and couch comfortable, and enjoyed using the fireplace with fire logs we brought with us. When you visit here I suggest you bring large towels or robes for hot tub use. Thank you to Maria for sharing this wonderful property with us, hope to return again!

We were 'sold' on this location based on the on-deck hot tub and king bed features, but there was so much more to enjoy. The cottages are open and have almost full glass views to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We were assigned lucky number 3. We needed for nothing in the kitchen. We watched a family of otters one morning playing in the bay. The resort was full on the days we were there but we heard nothing but the sound of the waves crashing into the shore. Sitting in the hot tub listening to the waves at night was so very relaxing, even in the rain.

We did some local exploring and there are great beaches and wave-watching action within a few minutes drive further up the highway. We hope to be able to go back again for our 11th honeymoon next year.

This resort has NEVER been updated. It's obvious as soon as you walk in the door. Which leaves you feeling very disappointed right away. It's a dusty, old, time warp. The kitchen cleanliness was questionable and I found myself using my time to inspect things and afraid to use things. All the furniture was old and hideous. The realization of how old the bedspread was made me cringe. Cracks in floor tile. The tile floors are freezing on your feet. There's nothing about the cottage that makes you want to stay there. No complimentary coffee and you have to bring your own firewood. Excuse me but I'm paying over $200 bucks a night for this???? The only salvation is the balcony and ocean view.
Find other locations on the ocean to stay at. They're out there and I've stayed there with pleasure. I work hard for my money and to enjoy my getaways. The owners are taking advantage of their paying guests and insulting them by thinking the accommodation is suitable for such high rates

Our family (myself, my husband, daughter and son-in-law) spent one week at Fossil Bay Resort. The cabins were rustic and in need of upgrades but if a person is used to minimum frills in accommodation then one can make do. Based on accommodation alone I would consider the prices charged as too high. More desirable is the setting as it is front ocean view. Our holiday was pleasant until management interrupted halfway through the week. My daughter was taking pictures of our two cabins side by side on property with her drone and was accosted by the owner / manager. He began by calling and threatening eviction then came to our cabin, literally pounding on the cabin door so hard that you could sense his anger on the other side, and it only got worse from there. Our daughter kept composed and tried to explain that she had taken care not to take any pictures beyond our two cabins at the edge of the property and had proof by showing him everything. She did show him, but his manners were totally lacking and the longer he conversed with her the ruder and more aggressive he became, using very unprofessional behaviour. Finally her husband had to close the door in front of him. To say the least, this was very upsetting to all of us. Anyone managing rental property should have basic, civil, polite skills to deal with any potential "people problems". To call this "harassment" is not an exaggeration, and for this reason alone I would not recommend staying at this property.

Positive? Clean, Dog friendly, hot tub, use of a fireplace and a great view, but that's about where it ends for me.

No pictures of the interior on the website should have been a big red flag for us. We should have checked trip advisor. Everything was extremely clean but extremely outdated. Very '90s vibe, and not in a fun way. There is soap and shampoos provided and though they smelled great, they were so cheap and drying. Because there's not a lot of restaurants or places to shop in the direct area we knew we would have to cook which is totally fine and something we prepared for. We didn't prepare for the fact that the stove doesn't work properly(the only large burner was either all or nothing. You couldn't cook past 2 without burning your food), the knives that are provided are either heavily damaged or completely dull and that the cookie sheet provided is sparkling cleaner because it doesn't even fit in the oven. There were a couple of greasy dishes in the cupboard that had us scrambling to find something to put the food in so it didn't burn while we washed them. that gave me an indication that maybe the dishes don't get checked on the checkout clean.

We gave up cooking our second night just because dinner the night before and breakfast was such a pain in the butt due to the headache it was becoming. we didn't come here to stress about utensils and cooking applications.

It has a hot tub which is cool but only half the Jets actually work which was kind of disappointing. A few of the lower jet covers are broken so there's sharp pieces if you're not careful. For the price of this place, the only thing it really has going for it is that there IS a hot tub and you have a good view. We wanted to stay at Point No Point, which is the same price but they didn't have any dog friendly rooms available so we chose this place, which ended up being a total blast from the past. Not the way we wanted to spend our one year wedding anniversary (together 13). All in all a pretty disappointing stay.

Like most people I would give Fossil Bay Resort five stars based just on nature and the beauty that surrounds the resort but it's time to hold owners accountable!
Over $1,000 for four nights, we spent the first hour cleaning as it was an abysmal mess. The owners asked to look at our dirty used paper towel as they've had the same cleaner for 15 years, and I guess couldn't believe that she's unable to do a proper job, perhaps that's the first problem.
We passed a couch on the side of the road on the way out to the resort and in retrospect, I wish we would have picked it up for the owners as it was in better condition than the furniture they have there. It's appalling.
I'd like to believe I'm a glass-half-full person, so if I'm leaving a review like this, I recommend booking somewhere else...

This trip is the third time we have been here after trying it instead of point no point. The draws to this cabin over point no point is the wifi, cable, television, and cost, as well that it reminds us of Mexican hotels with the tile and the feel.

The owners of the cabin remember us from staying here before and are very nice to deal with. The cabin itself is stunning with beautiful views and a hot tub to die for. This cabin has a very clear view of the ocean unlike their neighbors point no point having to many trees in the way to see.

Overall this cabin is stunning and worth any romantic outing that you can think of, I just wish it cost a little less.

We had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful part of the island for a 3 night getaway. Our stay was in cabin 1 , which was a perfect location. Very private with perfect views. Although these cabins are showing a bit of age (aren’t we all) lol, it was very clean and comfortable, perfect for our tastes. The weather cooperated so we were able to explore the area beaches and enjoy the patio and hot tub every day. We brought everything we needed as far as food and beverages so didn’t have any COVID 19 concerns. The check in and out couldn’t be more simple and towel exchange, hot tub maintenance were contactless also. Such a beautiful place. Can’t wait for the opportunity to visit again. Definitely a redo!! Thank you to our host Maria. See you again one day.

We've stayed here many, many time over the last several years and absolutely love it! All the basics you need plus a fantastic view, hot tub, privacy....did I say view!
Comfy king bed, full bath, fireplace and full kitchen await you along with the sound of Pacific Ocean waves.
We always go back!
