Detailed Reviews
Covid-19 is at the forefront of everyone's mind and the Fernie Fox did an excellent job in following safety protocols which made us feel safe. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has limited single use amenities by providing refillable soaps and shampoos which is a great go-green initiative. In lieu of providing a breakfast buffet they sell a $10 coupon for a full breakfast at Smitty's next door which gives excellent value for your money. We will choose this hotel again when we stay in Fernie.

This property is so well maintained, I thought it was a brand new hotel. Din Din and her partner have done a fantastic job of maintaining this 10 year old hotel to keep it looking so pristine and brand new. The room was very nicely appointed and super clean. Even the bathroom fixtures looked brand new. They had a very nicely set up breakfast area serving hot & cold cereal, toast, bagels, muffins, juice, fruit, coffee and yogurt. This hotel also had a great looking deck out front with a BBQ that I'm assuming could be used in the summer. I would highly recommend this place.

This was one of the better Super 8s we’ve stayed in. It looked newly remodeled and was very clean with comfortable rooms and beds, and lots of space for luggage. Plenty of electric and USB outlets, although it would be helpful to have more on each side of both beds. A large fridge with freezer and a microwave were handy to have. The front desk staff was very polite and friendly at check-in.
Breakfast was typical continental style, although they did have a waffle maker and yogurt. I was surprised to see that the oatmeal packets all had sugar in them. In fact there was NOTHING without sugar! Since I can’t eat sugar, gluten or dairy it was a good thing I had my own food along.
The outdoor hot tub is very clean with pleasant surroundings but unfortunately they filled it with cold water until it overflowed while we were in it, and nobody warned us. We had to shower in our rooms to warm up! This seemed in direct conflict with all the signs and other efforts such as real dishes at breakfast intended to make this Super 8 “green”.
A few other minor irritations were that the elevator door was very small and it was difficult to get through it with our duffel bags hanging over the edges of the cart. The hot and cold faucets in the bathroom sink were reversed, and it took a lot of time to get the hot and cold water adjusted in the shower to the right temperature.
Overall it was a fairly good value. Unfortunately our timing put us there on the weekend so lodging options were limited, but I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Fernie Fox from July 11-12 and had an all around bad experience. Upon checking into our main floor room, we noticed what looked like blood all over the floor of the shower (so gross that we couldn’t even take a shower). The walls and door are paper thin and so you can hear every word of the many people who walk by during the night. At 5am we were woken by the multiple diesel trucks idling outside our window and then at 6:13am someone was vacuuming the hall outside our room (we even popped our head out to see if it was a vacuum because it was so early).
UPDATE: I spoke with a women on the phone who apologized and said she would give the full $225 refund. After 15 minutes, she called back and told me the shower stain wasn’t blood but another stain they are working to remove. She then accused us of smoking in the room. I told her it wasn’t us smoking because my partner is currently going through cancer treatment and I am pregnant, but she continued letting me know how strong the smell was.
At the end of the convo she told me she can only refund me $99 instead of the full amount.
I would highly recommend staying anywhere else.

We stayed at the Fernie Fox on a motorcycle trip. The hotel was really clean, comfortable, with cozy beds and friendly staff. They offer a $10 breakfast voucher for Smitty’s next door that is convenient and is a good deal. Our room was on the top floor in the back and was super quiet making for a nice sleep. We will stay again on our next trip!

Went here on a last minute decision. Browsed to see that they had available beds and have read reviews that they had clean rooms. We are glad that those reviews are true! The receptionist - I believe her name was Din Din, was very friendly and approachable. She explained everything we needed to do to follow social distancing protocols. They had masks and hand sanitizer right on the entrance. The room was sparkling clean, it already smelled nice as soon as we entered the room. They have a hot tub and we were able to use it by ourselves because if social distancing, you just need to book it through reception so they know if someone else is using it. The kitchen was clean and they had eating and cooking utensils. They are located near everything - near the town, the main road, near a Smitty’s and DQ restaurant, convenience store and gas station, and near the Alpine Ski Resort where we went biking. We only needed to stay for a night, and this was perfect for the price. We had a good rest. Would definitely recommend!

Although they are experiencing staff shortages like everywhere else, you wouldn't know it! The staff were welcoming, responsive and professional. Din Din and Shajit were excellent and helpful every time we had a question.
The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet with more space than you would normally find in a room with two queen beds. We were two adults and two kids and felt like we had lots of space. Despite being located on the main highway in Fernie we never heard any traffic noise.
The hotel sells vouchers for discounted breakfast at Smitty's (which is about 100 feet away) and it was a pretty good deal. The hotel is also very environmentally conscious which we appreciated.
We will definitely stay here again and will recommend it to our friends and family.

Very comfy beds! Also a great outdoor hot tub. We enjoyed our stay and will be back I’m sure!
We biked from here into the downtown and it only took minutes. The price is also very reasonable.
They are also green- which is a nice change. They don’t have much useless plastics or shampoo bottles (they use dispensers)
However if you use conditioner I recommend bringing your own as they only have 2-1 shampoo!

It was a great Go Green hotel. Like the room, the beds, the fact that they use Rocky Mountain products from Canmore like their soap, shampoo and conditioner in their shower dispensers and not the cheap Dollorama shampoo. No plastic cups but glass which is great. Don't know why they still have that glass divider from covid times at front desk. Hard to talk back and forth.

This was my first time at this hotel and my friends second time. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. I did have my dog with me and I appreciated how attentive they were to her (even gave her treats) and appreciated the tiled room. Kids enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. Would definitely stay here again!
