If your fantasy vacation involves an overnight stay in a fraternity House then this is the place for you, otherwise this hotel should be avoided. It is really a shame that the owners have let this place fall into such a state given the fact that the location is so ideal, right at the bottom of the hill. I was traveling With a large group so we had one hotel room and the alpine suite. The hotel room was old and badly in need of an update but the Alpine Suite made the room look good. The suite is badly beaten up and dirty. I have seen better and cleaner couches at the dump. The carpet was old 20 years ago. There was a hole in the wall probably from a good party. The beds were hard and you could feel every spring in them. No pillow top comfort in sight. There were not enough towels if that is what you want to call them, my gym actually had nicer and bigger towels. There doesn’t appear to be daily maid service or at least none of us had it. If you appreciate a nice place to relax after a day on the slopes do not book the Slopeside it is so grungy and beaten up that you will not find comfort or relaxation possible. It may be a budget accommodation but does budget mean dirty, broken, and out of date? Not in my dictionary and probably not in yours.…
Great ski in, (almost) ski out location on the hill. About a 50m uphill walk to the lifts so this ski out they promote is tenuous. It's one of the first hotels up on the hill so the soundproofing is lacking. Walls are thin and water pipe noise from adjoining rooms is annoying BUT that's only a concern if you're sleeping in. If you want to hit the slopes early, you'll be awake when you hear all the noise anyway. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms were nice and clean. Fridge, microwave, coffee machine, table and chairs...all you need. BBQ outside on the deck. You'll need to bring all your own plates & utensils though. Nice common areas to relax in if you have more people in your group than will fit in your room. Ski lockers to fit ALL your gear downstairs. Price is higher than the quality offerred but you're paying for location.…
Spent a week here with my ski partner sibling. It lacks ski lodge ambience - overhead lighting rules here. There are only two lamps anywhere. They are in the lobby area and were unplugged and missing lightbulb when we checked in. TV but no fireplace, gas or electric, in the lobby sitting area to add a bit of atmosphere. Rooms are furnished in melamine - not pine dressers shown in hotel photos. - no lamps in rooms - only wall scones and ceiling lighting- some with cold others with warm white bulbs. Housekeeping needs work - Found an earlier guest contact lenses on the indoor/outdoor type carpet next to bed- they forgot to leave shampoo, to empty the coffee maker, and one day to make up the room before coming back from skiing. No hot tub. No food /no morning muffins for sale. Positives: Ski in and ski out. Good ski lockers. So -if price point and ski in ski out are your sole criteria then this is the place for you. But -if a bit of ski holiday ambience and services also matters to you a 3 star option with kitchenette will be a better bet.…
Funky European style basic and friendly place and a wonderful location. Great value for money and there are plenty of bars and food around so the lodge does not need any nor did we miss it. Location is perfect. Might stay there instead of some high priced slopeside condo.
I was seeking an economical place to stay while I did some mountain biking around Fernie. The Slopeside lodge was relatively inexpensive. Check in was a hassle, they don’t tell you in advance that check is at a different location. They don’t maintain front desk service at the site. The room was clean and actually exceeded my expectations. Comfortable place to stay for anyone seeking some simple lodging. Don’t bring your prima Donna GF to this place..
