Raised on the top of an hill, as to admire with ease the Lac des Sables lying at its feet, the Auberge de la Tour du Lac still carries the venerable and authentic style it had when it was erected a century ago. It keeps from its beautiful history many precious objects, woodwork, balconies and all sorts of extravagances that witness a simple and, at the same time, opulent comfort.

We stayed at Auberge du Lac for two nights to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. The Inn has 12 rooms and have antique furnishings and decorations and is within walking distance to the village. The rooms are equipped with a Queen bed, TV, microwave, coffee machine, wine and sparkling wine glasses, min-fridge and a two place jacuzzi. The bathroom has a combo bathtub/shower and the water pressure was great. The breakfast baskets were delivered to the room daily. The basket included fresh croissants, muffins, juices, fruits, butter, jelly and a coffee pod. Very good overall. The restaurant offers a Table d’Hôte six course meals and the food quality, portions and temperature were very good. Service was very professional and you should allocate approximately 2.5 hours for your meal enjoyment. The property has a paved parking lot and the outdoor landscaping is very nice. The mini-fridge could be bigger (ex. 4 Cft) to accommodate more supplies for an extended stay. It would be nice if the owners added a little something to recognize special birthdays and wedding anniversaries. A very good place to stay. We highly recommend.

I rely on trip advisor but never post as i agree with most comments. This place was beyond horrible. We were biking the Petit Train du Nord and this was a recommended auberge and our third stop along the way. Both of the other two b&bs were charming: operated by lovely couples who greeted us warmly, made us feel at home, created a charming environment and served us the most fabulous food. Auberge de La Tour du Lac....lacked all of this. First, it's off the beaten path from the bike trail so it's not convenient. Second, there is no lake view. In fact, there's no view at all. Third and most importantly, the owner Mario was unfriendly, unhelpful and unwelcoming. The hotel is 1.8km from the bike path and i emailed for directions and her replied "49" which meant exit the bike path at mile marker 49. I replied with a thank you and asked for further directions as he's not exactly visible and he replied "ask at the tourist office". When we arrived, we were shown our room, Not only ugly but....it overlooks the house in front

Mario, votre aubergiste

Though it has been overa year since we last visited this quaint Quebec Auberge, I felt compelled to include a review after reading some of the negative comments left on this page. My boyfriend and I spend most of our winter time immersed in the Laurentian landscape. The bare trees and regular snow fall make it a perfect location for winter lovers seeking a cozy recluse in the mountains. This Auberge is an annual stop for us, mainly due to the great forfeits they have which include a 5 course meal in the adjacent restaurant. The rooms are beautifully rustic, filled with antique wood furnishings and most rooms including a private in room hottub. The hosts work hard but have always been attentive to requests, questions and details. The food is great and though the wine list limited, you are sure to find something to suit your palate. The freahly.prepared breakfast baskets are also a lovely touch. We are excited to return this winter and recommend this place for couples seeking a quiet, relaxing retreat.

This hotel is a very mixed bag. We visited it as part of a fly drive package booked with Jonview. The venue by the lake is unbeatable and our room was delightfully situated. On arrival we were greeted with a rather acidic reception from Jules, who wanted a voucher from Jonview which we were not in possession of. The previous four hotels had not reacted like this. As we had experienced no rental car booked for a fly drive on arrival at Toronto Airport in the evening after a nearly 8 hour flight my husband was quick to respond that should a voucher be required this was not of our doing. Jules became more reasonable after being told I was a regular trip advisor contributor!!! Firstly we visited the bar as our room wasn’t ready till 4pm even though the hotel was really quiet? We noticed this area looked a little shabby, drinks were expensive and a 13% Service charge is automatic if you allow the barman to walk to the table with your drink. We noted that the service charge of 13% was also applied to the entire buffet self service breakfast, we assume this was because a staff member poured coffee a couple of times into the cups- thought this was excessive and unacceptable. Again coffee for guests in reception area required coins, our experience has been in other hotels in Canada this is complimentary. The final money insult here is a mandatory daily resort fee which is apparently for WiFi, parking and water in rooms- standard in most hotels claiming to be four star. The actual activities available in the resort fee were minimal and we noticed not taken up by the majority of guests many appeared to be older then us ( 58 and 61) so would assume they would not want to be using many of these. We opted to do the bear/ beaver hike at an extra $30 our guide Bruce was very good and did an excellent and informative tour however half way through after visiting the beaver dam (alas no beavers visible ) he informed us the bear observation platform was no longer in use due to issues related to the site which is not on hotel property apparently. We were disappointed and felt this should be made clearer to participants n the trail. They have a new chef at the complex and the fixed price menu meals were excellent and we enjoyed excellent wine and Roger our waiter deserves the 13% service charged here. Finally the rooms. We think these need renovation done properly as noted an old review in 2015 was responded to by management that bathrooms were due tor renovation in 2016. However this renovation was clearly not an update but a quick painting job as all our tiles and bath had been painted white so the area just looks a bit cleaner then previous? How this hotel won a luxury country hotel award in 2016 is interesting given these facts. What a shame as the pictures demonstrate what an amazing venue this is but as regular travellers we confirm that changes need putting in place here as this hotel leaves a bad taste of being perpetually ripped off.

Hi Rosie T I think you are commenting on the wrong place. Our Inn is located in the Laurentians, Quebec Canada. It would be appreciated if you could remove your comment since this is a mistake and that your 3 stars will affect our ranking for wich we work very hard to satisfy our clientèle and their experience. We purchased a 2 night package which included 2 six course suppers and 2 continental breakfast in our room. My wife and I chose to trek up to Ste-Agathe from our home town to spend Labor Day weekend. The room was decent, all be it a bit rustic, however we expected that are were not surprised. The room was clean and well maintained, there was a double Whirlpool bath which we didn't use. A comfortable Queen size bed, a small table and chairs and a few more modern amenities : large flat panel TV, Micro-wave, coffee maker and a small fridge. The breakfast were delivered to our room and we more than enough to keep us going. The croissants and muffins were fresh as well as the fruit. The 2 six course supper were excellent, not 5 star excellent but let's say 4 star good. A small wine list but some decent choices. Overall an enjoyable experience. We will most likely return to this Auberge.
