We went to check in at the much newer, similarly named (sister?) hotel a couple of blocks away and were advised we didn't have a reservation. I then realized that I had made my booking at the Nova Inn.
The front desk staff gave us a friendly greeting and quickly and efficiently got us checked in. When we arrived in our room, everything looked OK initially but then I noticed quite a mess in the bathroom sink. I called the front desk and he quickly moved us to another room and came along to ensure everything was OK.
The room was OK, but you can tell the hotel is feeling its age and it wasn't the most comfortable. The portable AC unit is right beside the bed and is quite loud so it meant either being hot and quiet or cool and noisy to sleep.
The included breakfast was good, and the staff at checkout was very friendly and efficient as well.

Stayed here for 4 nights in mid Jan. Nicely updated and very clean .It has all the service that one could need for the area. Close to shopping. Food is another thing it doesn’t have a restaurant and the Bar across the street is what I would say stay away from 4 of my guys eat there and were all very sick the next morning. There is a McDonalds/ Tim’s / DQ but that’s about it. You’re better off to go to Walmart and get some stuff for your room. The other only issue was the heat in the room. They seem to be worried about people being cold. The room temp never went below 76 with the window open full and the ac on in the middle of winter and the other 4 rooms we had were the same
Other than that it’s a good place to stay

Thank-you kindly for your review. We would like to assure you we are looking into the heating concern you noted. Unfortunately with the relatively warm conditions lately heating is certainly a challenge. We hope to welcome you back to a Nova Hotels property in the future. Sincerely, Mindy Smythe- Regional Sales Manager

So.... one month of staying at the Nova, pushed me to share this review. Housekeeping once a week maybe twice if your lucky. Not to mention the light switches, main wall by the garbage, doors and knobs were neglected and obviously filthy. The house keeping at the Nova makes BCMI look sanitary. Make sure to re stock all your own towels, sheets and staples from the very friendly night staff. That is sarcasm by the way for that last remark. As for the continental breakfast.... don't bother.... They put out one gallon of milk a day, even when there is no vacancy. I also had the pleasure of being locked out of my room for a couple hours when the batteries in the card reader died. The night staff didn't have any idea where the master key was or what else they could do. Once again management could not be reached to assist with this problem. On a brighter note they were speedy about fixing this problem with lock, four days later..... Yet another issue, they have no on site laundry. So you are forced to use a laundry service that is expensive. One more thing the WiFi sucks! This is the second time I have bothered to use my lap top. The bandwidth is extremely limited, more like rationed actually. Any and all other annoyances with the Nova in Peace River are not worth any more aggravation on my part. Never been more happy to load my truck up and return to my standard of living.

From the time we entered driveway to the time we left, we were very pleased with our choice of accommodation, grounds were well kept, interior clean and fresh smelling, hallway and room clean and fresh. Staff very pleasant and helpful. We arrived late and were able to have something to eat. There were large bowls of oranges and apples and bananas placed in lobby, what an excellent and welcoming idea.
Truly felt we got our moneys worth, and will definitely stay here again!
Thank you Nova Inn

This Inn is Fantastic - if you enjoy repeatedly asking help only to find out that the ownership group has left a front desk agent completely alone in a Hotel with malfunctioning door locks. Also, neither my business partner's nor my Fireplace or HVAC worked on a night that saw the temperature drop to -23 degrees Celsius. I went to the Front Desk six (6) times to get key fixed or rooms moved. I was told "I don't know what you want me to do. I am here alone." I asked if there was anyone else on property who could watch the desk so that she could see that it wasn't just me... she replaied "Nope - I am the only one here and I can't leave." When we went off-property to get something to eat, she was able to get someone out to look at the gas fireplace that wasn't working and had no pilot light on after she instructed us to remove the front plates to try to get them to work. In the morning, instead of an apology they tried charging .99 cents for making more keys on door locks that didn't work. While we waited at one point, we witnessed two (2) other guests come down with the same issues. Keys. Heat. Fireplace. It was surreal.
Pro tip to ownership and management: Assign rooms in the AM and TEST THEM and have someone look at the rooms - especially when you only have 10 arrivals for the day. It isn't hard. That way, your guests won't have to interrupt the front desk when she is texting or on social media.

One of the better places we have stayed in Peace River. Good Value for your Money.
Friendly Staff. Nice sized room, and one of the best features is when you walk into the room and switch the light on, the room lights up, not just a small lamp in the corner, but a nice overhead light. Great continental breakfast. And above all very clean.
Thank You Nova Inn!

The room itself was nice. The problem was that I left a bag of shopping in the room and then returned almost immediately (after checking out) to pick up my bag of walmart food shopping.
I saw the room cleaners at the front desk (the ones who cleaned my room) and they said that they had thrown away all my food shopping. Then one of them said that there was a half packet of pistacchios left. I asked about the cans and the other food items. They told me it was all gone. When I pressed the matter they finally brought my shopping from their staff room behind reception to me. It was almost all intact and it was still double bagged. I was not impressed that they had ransacked the bag and had poured off or drank an expensive $5 drink. One of the cleaners came into the reception waving the bottle she had emptied and yelled at me.
At no time did anyone apologize. The receptionist just stood by and did not ask the cleaning staff to behave calmly or civilly.
Apparently it is policy to throw out drinks or liquids in the room but I only had one partly drunk item in my shopping bag. I don't get how in a half an hour period they could ransack what was clearly shopping that I had forgotten and would come back to get. They hadn't reported to the front desk (who had my contact details) that I had left any of my property.I know this because I did not leave the hotel itself until 1.30pm and returned around 1.45pm
It is bad enough that when I asked for an extra half hour in my room (as I was feeling sick) and was refused unless I payed a day rate. Then to have my possessions divided up between the two girls who I had given $10 each on exiting my room? Disgraceful really.
Their denial of having my stuff, until I asked for the name of the manager, and then the sudden producing of my "thrown away" shopping? Obviously "damage control". to coverr up grasping dishonest behaviour.
We now have found out that we left our telephone charger behind. Good luck to us ever seeing that again. The receptionist says they don't have it so it's probably in someone's pocket by now.
The sad thing is that the receptionists seem to be nice people. I thought this was supposed to be a good brand of hotel and Nova is a big name.
It's shocking that they treat their clients in such a dishonest manner. Also the cleaning staff should not be screaming at clients in reception and reception should not allow that.
We should have stayed at the Super 8 again or BCMI; at least those places are friendly with good service and honest staff.

This is no place for the faint of heart. Mud everywhere, on the luggage cart, front entrance, hallways, elevator. I wondered if the people tracking the mud did the same in their own homes.
My room was clean enough but the heat was unbearable. The register showed 75 degrees farenheit and there wasn't any way to turn it down. I opened the window to air the room out but was hit by the grime of the 24 hour highway traffic. Who knew that every large truck in Canada drove this highway at 2:00 a.m.? It was so noisy, even with the window closed that I ended up putting in earplugs to sleep.
The greatest insult was the fact that the internet was down, had been down for over a week and the desk clerk seemed uninterested in my complaint. I spend the day out marketing and usually have a few hours of work left to do on the computer at night. I know that they likely don't get a lot of business travellers there, but the internet is one of the reasons why I chose specific hotels to stay in.
The final straw was the Fitness Room, it was closed for maintenance.
Breakfast was not interesting at all, everything packaged and limited selections. I wondered if the food that is put out is actually used as breakfast or taken by the workers for lunch. I saw many men taking five or six burritos, fruit and muffins out to their truck and then leave for work.
I won't chose this hotel when I travel to Peace River again.
