I’ve thought about (dreamt about) our one night stay at Manoir Hovey for months following our departure. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The staff greeted us warmly at every turn. The rooms were rustic and comfortable. We were upgraded to a small cottage outside of the main hotel. The room was very clean, cozy, and well-maintained. The heating/cooling worked surprisingly well given the large size and high ceilings of the room. My only minor complaint is that the windows were tough to close and lock. We had dinner in the casual restaurant, which was wonderful. Our included breakfast was both delicious and enormous. I can’t imagine anyone leaving hungry from their breakfast tables. While construction did make arrival at the hotel a little strange, it did not impact the rest of our stay. We were lucky to have a burst of good weather in October, but it was still too cool to enjoy the many outdoor activities and facilities. Looking forward to going back in warmer weather!

The room was not as luxury as billed on the web site, the carpet had stains. The wall paper was peeling in spots. We were not treated as welcome guests except by the waiter in the pub. This was planned as a special get-away treat for an anniversary. This was a sub-par experience.

First came here in 1988 by accident on our way from Ontario to Vermont for a ski trip. Place was excellent, so we returned for our honeymoon in 1992. I returned as a recent widower, with my new wife to the most excellent place in a place with beautiful memories

The first thing that strikes you about Manoir Hovey is the attitude of the staff. From the parking attendant, to the front desk and restaurant staff, their eagerness to provide outstanding service is evident. The whole setting, including the spacious room and bath, is a wonderful mixture of cozy warmth and country elegance. We loved the balcony off our room, and the comfortable sitting area. We enjoyed an exquisite dining experience in Le Hatley restaurant. The staff were extremely attentive and engaging, without being intrusive. The dishes were sumptuous, and the presentation was mouthwatering. It could not have been more perfect. Definitely one of our top travel experiences, and highly recommended.

Spent a lovely evening at Manoir Hovey during early "mud season" in February. Despite it being probably the least attractive time of the year, we had a very nice time at this beautiful property. Be advised that there are limited on-property activities during the winter, especially if the ice is not accessible on the lake. Our room was spacious, but dated. We had seen photos of other rooms and ours was not nearly as nice so be sure to inquire and ask for photos when booking. Restaurant is very nice and the service very good. The tavern is a great spot for a beer or casual dinner. I do echo other comments about prices becoming a bit out of line for the property.

I visited Manoir Hovey in February 2023 with my wife and 3 month old daughter. We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. All the staff we encountered were kind, courteous and professional. We arrived late and were taken directly to our room and helped with our bags. We had dinner in both dining areas, the servers and staff at Le Hatley restaurant and Tap Room pub were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was also wonderful, Le Hatley being a delicious fine dining experience while Tap Room being more relaxed and informal. We stayed in one of the older lodges and had an incredible view of the lake. It was cold outside but we still tried to have a coffee on the deck. The room was big, well appointed and clean. I think certain things could do with a little refresh, like the shower taps were a bit hard to work and the bed was a little sunken in the middle. But these were minor things and we really enjoyed our time. The cleaning staff did a great job and we loved the little touches like chocolate on our pillows and the note with the weather. There is currently some construction (which they inform you of) but we did not find this too disruptive. We would definitely love to come back.

We just finished our annual stay at the Manoir Hovey - we have gone every year except when restricted due to COVID. The property is very sentimental for us and is still beautiful, and the staff is lovely but it was not the same experience for us. Rates have gone up astronomically (and our pre-covid rate was not honored even though we are long-time loyal clients), the breakfast buffet is gone (which was such an amazingly unique aspect of the food experience) and the housekeeping was inconsistent. The food and sommelier continue to be excellent but we do not feel that as locals we are necessarily the desired overnight stay clientele. We requested a 1 hour delayed departure and were told that this was the limit as guests were checking in on Saturday - surprising as the hotel was not full and most high-end properties reward their long-time guests and Relais and Chateaux members with a few special concessions. At the increased prices this will not be a property that most can frequent often. It would be nice to see more promotions/rates offered for their local loyal clientele.

Manoir Hovey offers an old world charm reminiscent of New England resorts such as the Au Sable Club of the Adirondacks. It also offers au courant farm to table cuisine. We and our guests found breakfast to be unsurpassed. And dinner at the Tap Room a delight.

World Class Dining Experience!! Sometimes the reality of a restaurant does not match the expectations. Well, for Manoir Hovey that is not the case. Ever aspect of this dining was truly outstanding and in a league of it's own. From the service to cuisine it is hard to compare to other 5 star restaurants. We are so looking forward to our next visit.
