Seven of us had breakfast at the Auberge in North Hatley and we all thought it was superb. The main breakfast options all come with a delicious fruit smoothie, a cup of fresh fruit and a cup of coffee or tea. But as well as serving delicious food, the atmosphere in the restaurant was very congenial and the service was excellent.
The room was a little small and on 3rd floor with no lift so be prepared for some effort to manoeuvre. But that minor aside, this was a lovely hotel in the beautiful village of North Hately. Our host was the hotel equivalent of Superman. He did the checkin with very clear instructions on the hotel, the village and the eating and drinking options in the area. He sold and served the chocolates which were stunning, from the display, recommended and served drinks and somehow managed to do all of this for several guests and passing clients simultaneously and quickly. Comfy bed and well decorated room with view out to river. The other rooms probably had even better views out to the lake. Easy parking free. The surrounding area is stunningly beautiful. Substantial breakfasts inclusive setting you up for the day ahead.…
Auberge Chocolatier If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. It is 100% family owned and operated, and this family goes that extra mile to ensure their guests are happy. The food in the restaurant/bar is great, service is wonderful and the location and cleanliness of the property are impeccable. You get a wonderful breakfast that is included in the cost of the room, and there is local made chocolate and maple syrup in the boutique. We made North Hatley a stop in between Montreal and Quebec, and we are so glad we did. The area is a utopia. The view from our room is gorgeous. I could go on and on, but you need to see it for yourself.
We were charmed by this place from the moment we walked into the Reception area, which doubles as a chocolate/pastry counter. It is run mostly by the large family headed by Mr. Guy Roy, and they are constantly on the go maintaining the high quality of their inn. I think this might explain what one reviewer perceived as a business-like attitude, but we found that if f you have any questions or make the effort to engage them in conversation, in either French or English, you will find everyone quite sincere and pleasant. The breakfast is excellent, and the decor throughout echoes the heritage of chocolate-making. They are ideally located right in the centre of this small town, so you can just park and walk anywhere. That is assuming you have no mobility issues, in which case you should ask for a room on the first floor, as there are three levels and no elevator. It faces the main road, but is quiet at night. Overall, we found it combined the personal attention of a B&B with the efficiency and amenities of an inn.…
Charming town, well located, the Auberge la Chocolatiere is amazing for everything: the owners who operate it with their 7 kids, the succulent breakfast included and lunch that we ate, the boutique with all local products and the drinks we drank on the terrace with an exceptional view ok the river lake and mountains! We loved it so much that we still rebooked by phone for an other stay. The service was just unique. Thank you to the Auberge la Chocolatiere for this memorable stay.
This was our first visit to Canada's Eastern Townships, known for its beautiful scenery and Louise Penny. We made La Chocolatiere in North Hatley our base while exploring the region, and for us it was ideal. At the head of Lake Massawipi, the setting is lovely, just across the bridge that leads into the village. The auberge itself has a rudimentary charm, and our room on the third floor was large and comfortable with a great view out over the lake. Breakfasts were excellent (don't miss the chocolate crepes) and the service, once we broke the ice, was personal and friendly. We will definitely go back.
The location is nice, the room was very clean, the food was ok, the only thing missing is genuine hosts. It seemed so business, sleep, eat, pay and goodbye. Overall impression: their main goal is to maximise profits. Too bad.
We stopped at the Auberge la Chocolatière on a weekend getaway in the North Hatley region. We ordered a Chai Lattee and a Cappuccino. My latte came in ( warm milk and a President Choice Chai tea bag ) for $5.75!!!!!!! My husband Cappuccino was ok but for approximately 3/4 cup and also $5.75. We bought two canes of local beer ( Coaticook ) which is a few kms from there. They sold us 2 canes of beers for $17.75 = $8.87 cane. Their beers are approx $5.00 each normally. So two cheap drinks and two canes of beer cost us $32.00. We love supporting local businesses but after looking at our recipe back in the car, we realized that they need to adjust a few things.
Quainte old place. With bridge out a real inconvience. Did not get the rooms we asked for and verbally confirmed. When we called for our confirmation we were advised 2 rooms on different floors. The room on 3rd floor vey small compared to others we saw. Room extreme with smaller small tv, no clock radio, terrible view we were told we had a view of the lake but rather a view of the construction site which started up at 0700am. Breakfast OK but in total not worth the high price they charge for an Auberge.
While we don’t begrudge the owners’ need to protect their business especially during a pandemic, we were disappointed and frustrated by their dishonesty and lack of transparency. According to local news, the townspeople knew of the impending bridge construction at least 6 months prior to arrival. The husband and wife team said they knew only one week prior which is a boldfaced lie. They assumed no responsibility nor sense of obligation to alert us of obstacles prior to arrival. Overrated breakfast with extra service charges; Room sadly outdated and sparsely furnished Covid 19 violations at breakfast - no social distancing ; all tables occupied in closed unventilated room Do not recommend
