Staff accommodating, respectful, welcoming. Excellent front desk and restaurant service. Food top notch. Pool large, clean, ample lounge chairs inside and out. King bed comfort compromised by shrivelling mattress pad. Waterview suite balcony superb; great for snoozing, reading, sipping and taking it all in.
Our room, view and level of comfort for sleep was superb. But the biggest testament to J W Rousseau is the calibre of staff working there. I left my phone in a sitting area and it was turned in within minutes by one of their staff. Wow!! From our family to all of you thank you for the wonderful stay!!
Arrived at the resort but self parking was too far from the main building so opted for valet parking. Called for car a few times during our stay, but it was not at the front when we came down 10 minutes later. Setting is stupendous and the view takes your breath away. Unfortunately it was raining for the 2 days of our stay. Plenty of young employees in all venues who are eager to help but they are mostly tentative and unsure of themselves, probably the covid reality of rehiring after all the shut downs. Some areas have been nicely refurbished but many sitting rooms are still in need of updating, including the room in which we stayed. Loved the size and layout of the suite.
Stayed here for a couple of nights with my wife and baby earlier in the month. Our experience didn’t start brilliantly when we had a call from our booking agent less than a week before we were due to stay, saying the hotel wanted to cancel our booking as they had a large conference on. Given we had booked over 6 months earlier, it was disappointing they were prepared to try and cancel our booking with so little notice. As we were travelling with out 8 month old baby and our stay was part of a wider tour of this part of Canada, the hotel agreed we could stay but noted there would be limited facilities available and we wouldn’t be able to eat in the restaurants but that they’d give us $200 to use on in room dining as an apology for the inconvenience. As there were no other comparable alternatives available, we were left with little choice but to accept this offer. When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in by the assistant guest reception manager. We went to our room in Paignton House which was lovely, although as this is separate from the main hotel I suspect we were put here to keep us out of the way of the conference guests. When we looked at the information we’d been given regarding the facilities which were available (effectively just the swimming pool), which said in room dining was not available throughout our stay. Given this was the only on-site option available, and we’d been given credit to specifically use on in room dining, this seemed rather ridiculous. Eventually we were offered a greatly reduced menu. Had we known the limited choice which would be available, we would have brought more food with us to cook ourselves. Ordering food was problematic as the assistant reception manager who checked us in seemed to be the only person who was able to make anything happen – everyone else we spoke to always had to go and check with someone else and phone us back. The food we did have was reasonable, but one tray was sitting outside our room for almost 24 hours before it was collected. This was not particularly impressive, and especially disappointing given in room dining has a $5 delivery charge (which I don’t think we should have had to pay given we had no choice but to eat in our room) and an 18% gratuity added. These charges, coupled with the already high prices, meant that 2 burgers with no drinks ended up costing around $70. The indoor/outdoor swimming pool was lovely and had beautiful views over the lakes. One of the other facilities still available was the disc golf, and the information we were provided with said you should contact reception to get the discs to use for this. When we spoke to reception the person we spoke to seemed to have no idea disc golf was even a facility the hotel had, but she went to check with someone, and then reappeared with the seemingly only knowledgeable member of staff – the assistant reception manager. When we did have the discs we went to find the course, which consists of 3 targets all pretty close together and takes about 10 minutes – all rather a waste of time. When we checked out I was told the amount which would be debited from my card, which I thought seemed about right for what we had spent. When the transaction appeared on my card it was for more than this amount, so I queried it. The hotel had not added breakfast on our final day to the amount they told me at check out, and had also charged us $88 in resort fees. Given almost no facilities were available to us, I’m not sure how the hotel can justify charging this resort fee (I would very much welcome their thoughts on this). Overall, a rather disappointing experience, and one which I’m sure would have been different had there not been such a large conference taking place at the same time as our stay.…
1. We were there for 2 nights and never had housekeeping enter our room. When I phoned at 5pm to let them know I said we will be out for the evening at 6pm and they never came. Very disappointed to come back at 11pm to unmade beds and no towels. 2. There was black mold on the ceiling of the waterbed room in the spa about one foot in diameter. 3. The hut tub in the main pool area had 2 inches of scum around the waterline, that just wasn’t clean. I was able to scrap a bit off with my fingernail to see if it just needed a good cleaning it did. 4. Since no one seemed to care about these concerns I messaged the General Manager on LinkedIn, Didier Dolivet. He hasn’t responded. Besides calling the front desk and talking with them, they had no apologies. So I have also DM’ed the hotel with no response. And finally #5… This hotel is not worth the $$$. Much better experiences at a Fairmont, Westin or any Disney property.…
Our Family Day weekend stay could be summed up as chaotic. Food and beverage service at the restaurants was erratic and slow. It was an adventure to see what would (or wouldn't) get brought to your table. Finding staff to answer any questions was an adventure in itself. I appreciate the past 2 years have been very difficult for the tourism and hospitality industry. But this property cuts corners. Lots of them. And they don't see to take the health and safety of their guests seriously. We found an opened bag of high dosage THC gummies in our room. We were travelling with 2 children (6 and 1). I brought this to the attention of the front desk, and the staff shared our horror. They offered me several token benefits (late checkout, free breakfast, $150 food & beverage credits) but I was clear that I expected to hear from hotel management directly and left my contact details. Of course, I never heard anything from the hotel. No phone call, e-mail or letter. Upon following up, I was told the $150 food and beverage credit I received was enough. I spent over $3000 on my weekend there, so this is less than a 5% discount on my stay. What a joke. It's disgusting to think about what could have happened to my kids, potentially overdosing on black market drugs and having to find a way to get them to a hospital in the middle of winter. According to the Ontario Poison Center, acute THC poisoning in children is severe and can even lead to seizures or a coma. But at least I saved less than 5% on my total spend. What a joke. If the hotel doesn't take this serious enough to even send a follow-up, where else are they cutting corners? Here is my advice if you're considering staying here: 1) Don't 2) If you still do, try to locate the kitchen on arrival. You will probably be serving yourself at the restaurants. 3) Carry lots of cash, since you will be waiting for hours to get your bill at the end of a meal. 4) Make sure you have a gameplay to get to a local hospital for when your children overdose on high dosage THC gummies left behind in your room. The hotel doesn't prioritize cleanliness, and has zero accountability or follow-up system. On the plus side, we did have a lovely meal at Teca on night and the staff were great.…
We went for our wedding anniversary. The Hotel is Beautiful. The room was nice and clean. The staff were all so friendly. Mr. Bakshi, the one who checked us in was so Kind with a big smile. They sent a bottle of wine to the room to help us celebrate our anniversary. We Love the view from the balcony. We would defiantly go back.
We had an amazing stay. The customer service was among the best we've received at any Marriott branded hotel. Heather, Amanda, Jasmine and others were fantastic and personable during our stay. We were lucky we traveled during an off peak week in April as it almost felt like we had the entire resort to ourselves. I can easily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation and we'll definitely be back whenever we get a chance!
A true sample of excellent hospitality! Without doubt one of our favorite hotels we have stayed. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff. Joyce greeted us at the front desk with such and warm and sincere smile. Resort had a great smell upon arrival which made us feel at home. Bellhop took our luggage up to our room and waited for us before he entered our room. Room was immaculately clean and we love the welcome message on our television. They upgraded our room to a lakeside view with a lovely bottle of wine and chocolates. The staff were extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) Dax greeted us with a warm welcomed smiled and thanked us for staying at the resort. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience we received. We went to dinner at Teca and must say, it was one of the best dinners we have eaten in a very long time. Trust me we travel regularly and my husband is an amazing cook. The server Allan was also a charm and very knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. The restaurant manager came by to check up on us and was so thoughtful and kind; he brought the chef out to our table so we could tell him our amazing our meal was. We honestly felt like VIP guests. Note, this is a 10/10-star resort; the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to us. All respect for the general manager and department head managers who have mentored such a great team, a true sample of excellent hospitality! Michelle & John Weber…
What a fantastic and relaxing location! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. We got lost when we arrived while looking for our room and one of the staff spotted us and asked if we required assistance. He walked us all the way to our room. Throughout the stay staff constantly greeted us along our travels asking us if there was anything they could do to help. I felt exceedingly pampered and welcomed. A special thank you to David at the front desk who bent over backwards to help me with all of my questions and even ran off copies of an email. We will be returning very soon👍🏻.
