A nice hotel with a great location and friendly staff. Definitely recommend for an easy stay in DT Lunenburgh. Has a great balcony too. Close to all Lunenburgh attractions. Great value. Rooms are ordinary but that's all you need.
Unfortunately I cannot rate or give advice on the hotel because I made a mistake and booked the wrong date. We arrived promptly at check in time looking forward to our stay at the Rum Runner when the owner Tim informed me our reservation was for the next night. Unfortunately he did not have a vacancy but didn’t hesitate to make a call to a fellow inn owner to find us a place to stay. He continued to get us a fabulous dinner reservation and invited us to have a cocktail on the veranda overlooking the water. Next time we will be sure to stay at the Rum Runner.
We stayed at this Inn on sept 30th and I did a previous review saying it was a lovely spot but only downfall was our room was very small and no where for table and chairs so we had to eat our subway meal on the bed .. no big deal on doing that but than on oct 2nd I notice a extra charge of $75.00 on my credit card and didn't understand why , we never bought anything through the Inn . I called and was told I was being charged 75.00 for a set of sheets cause there was a small mustard stain on them that I didn't even know I did but I would assume came from my sub . I thought she was joking ... NOPE she was serious ., what was a nice little getaway weekend from PEI just days after the Fiona hurricane ( where we had no power at home for 2 weeks total and was so happy for a warm shower ) we ended up being charged for something so ridiculous!!! They told me the sheets cost 68.00 and then labour of staff and product to try and get it out( so I guess $7.00 worth the labour and cleaning supplies went into it ) I would not recommend this place to anyone after this .., they could charge you for a facecloth with makeup on it , towel with skid mark or heaven forbid you throw up , crap the bed or 'Mother Nature ' arrives while your sleeping and leaves a stain . AVOID this place unless you bring your own linens or don't mind being.charged for things you are unaware of !!! Never in my life have I heard of anything like this .. good way to keep top notch linens at a customers expense if you ask me . ... $68.00 for sheets .. no better than my $30.00 set from Costco .. will not be returning or recommending this place at all . Ridiculous!! The owner 'Tim ' as I'm reading in reviews is not as brave over the phone as he is behind a keyboard and was quick to pass me along to Allison .. who told me that I was informed of the pending charge to my credit card and provided me with screenshots of things written of the said evidence and pics .. I checked my email right away and have yet to find anything in junk or inbox with this info . I informed Allison of this with no response . But seems I paid for new upgraded sheets cause the mustard stain ones are unusable I requested that they be sent to me (they are mine now right ) . They agreed to send them at their expense (max 25 bucks shipping cost ) .. I don't think I'll ever see them cause they'll say it cost $25.01...I'm still in disbelief over this , unreal !!!…
I stayed in room 8, had a little closed in balcony with a very nice view. Room was spotless and the bed very comfy. The front desk was always smiling and helpful and even carried my bag up for me. There is no reserved parking in the town, and I arrived on a Sunday afternoon so there was no close parking. The meters are active from 10 am - 5 pm. I parked below the inn until after dinner and then most of the traffic left so i moved my car to a closer side street & left it there for the rest of the stay. (Side steets are free to park). The only down side is that it is right behind the Fisherman Museum so that adds some noise, but not as much as I expected) from the tour busses and restaraunt fans during the day. It is quieter at night.
Ten of us rode in with bikes, although we had reservations, they were not expecting the bikes ! Without hesitation Tim found us a secure place for storage and allowed us to plug in the ebikes at his front desk ! He helped with retreival of luggage by making a few phone calls and is a wealth of information on things to do and places to eat. A clean, simple small town Inn with views of the Harbor.
The location is good. It is close to almost everything. However the pictures are deceiving. The room was small even though it is supposed to be “spacious.” Also if your room is on the upper floor, you have to go up a scary steep steps with your luggage. The rooms are poorly and cheaply decorated. If you are looking for a B&B type place in a classic building with antique furniture, this is not the place. No breakfast, even continental breakfast is offered. So overall it is over priced. The A/C was not working properly and we need to turn on the space heater in September. I would not particularly recommend this place.
The owner, Tim, was a lovely host with a warm and kind energy. We stayed in rooms 17 & 18 which were beautifully done. The skylight windows allowed for lots of natural light and the shower was lovely. The location of the Rum Runner was in a prime spot along the main strip! Steps away from the water which was beautiful. Right behind the inn was the historical fisheries museum which was very interesting. Run Runner Inn was also steps away from some delicious eating spots! The Fish Shack and The Half Shell were delicious. There was also a home-made ice cream spot and a cute cafe close by. Overall, The Rum Runner in was a prime location, comfortable, and Tim was great!
We stayed one night in room 10 upstairs No mosquito netting on any window what sucked The balcony is nice but you open the window and get eaten by mosquitoes The room was nothing special The bathroom very small the shower felt very confined We paid 333:Canadian dollars for one night what was to much The room is upstairs some very steep stairs No breakfast Parking is on the street good luck to find something and beforen1600 you have to pay for parking Would not stay there again Owner was nice but not worth the money in our opinion
What a beautiful relaxing place to stay. Great hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. Wish we could go back one day. It was a favorite on our 6 week trip. The room and balcony were excellent with great views over the water snd ships. The bed was large and comfortable. We just loved our stay there
Had our second stay at the Rum Runner Inn and again it didn’t disappoint! From the fabulous location to the friendly staff and the comfortable clean rooms it is the perfect location to explore Lunenberg Nova Scotia! Will definitely be back in the future and highly recommend!
