Reading other reviews honestly makes me wonder if the reviewers stayed at the same Inn.
I will say, the positive parts of our stay included a nice big comfortable king bed, beautiful view of the marina and great central location. We booked a ‘king suite’ (it wasn’t a suite.)
The bad part: REALLY run down, old stained carpet, the AC/heating unit was FILTHY with mould, the bathroom has never been updated (old mildew stained tub), door didn’t shut and the room just really smelled musty.
The owner is a nice man, we told him that it was in dire need of many updates and repairs and he listened but didn’t care enough to adjust our 300.00 bill for our night’s stay. But that’s fine-we really wouldn’t return anyway.

This is a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Lunenburg. We were greeted by the owner, Tim, who is very kind and organized. He had our express check-in ready, helped with difficulty connecting to the internet and offered excellent restaurant recommendations. Our room was on the first floor with access to our own balcony. This was only separated from the main balcony by a rope so I would not call it private. We had our own table and chairs as well as an outdoor seating arrangement. The balcony overlooks the harbor so there was plenty of activity to watch from our "perch". There were glasses, a wine opener and ice bucket at the ready. As this is an older hotel that has been renovated, it has some of the quirks that one would expect in an older building. It was very clean, nice bedding, extra blankets in a sealed plastic bag which seemed like an assurance that they had been cleaned. Parking in Lunenburg is somewhat restricted. Since we arrived after 6:00, we did not have to feed the meter and were out and about before 10:00 AM the next morning when you need to begin paying for the meter. When we got back that evening we were able to find parking near the hotel and again, did not have to feed the meter. The location of the Rum Runner Inn cannot be beat if you are visiting charming Lunenburg.

Great spot. The room was spotless, and the location was perfect. Our deck overlooked the harbour, and we saw the Bluenose II departing one morning. There was on-street parking right in front of the Inn and all parking in the town is free during the pandemic. The crowds are gradually coming back, but we were comfortable with the restrictions in place. Tim made some good recommendations for breakfast and other meals. They provided extras of anything we needed just by asking (dry towels after a couple of days, extra coffee), and were just a call away. For Lunenberg it was good value for the quality, and we will return again when we have the opportunity. Thank you.

Lots of good things here. Several good restaurants close by, three bookshops, and a few cute shops. The Fisheries Museum is behind the inn. The innkeepers are very nice and helpful and the location of the inn is perfect. Walking distance to almost everywhere . . . except to your car, lol. I suppose it is true that folks park on the street here, but even a marked drop off area would have been so helpful. It was raining when we arrived at mid-day, and we couldn't find any street parking nearby. We ended up about 4 blocks away (and keep in mind that Lunenburg's streets slope down rather steeply to the water). My advice is to plan on arriving early or after the stores close and you'll be able to park on the closest side streets without metered parking. When you're ready to check out, you can move your car after business hours to a metered space (they don't require you to pay after a certain time), and then you'll be able to load your car without the walk! There is a pay parking lot on the street behind the inn ($20/day, I think?), although I'm not sure if there are limitations on parking overnight. Or you could just not go until off season! If you do select a room with the large window overlooking the water, note that there is no shade for that window or the skylights. Our room was very well equipped but not very dark if you're someone who needs a dark room to sleep.

Hello, We're so glad to hear you enjoyed the accessibility of the town, staff, and location during your stay at the Rum Runner Inn. We appreciate your feedback and review. It's always best to call us directly if you have specific needs for your stay and in your room. The skylight room is a popular room for a bright and airy experience in the day, and in the night to see the stars and night sky. We also have rooms with blackout curtains for a different experience. Thank you, Reception Rum Runner Inn

Location is great, that’s totally what you are paying for, and on street parking in September was not a problem . King room was dated and plain but ok, with small bathroom.
What wasn’t great was being told to lower our voices at 4 in the afternoon as we were talking on the phone to family out on the balcony. A truck below was noisily delivering propane and we had to speak above that, but in no way unruly, to be heard. We were told to lower our voices because the room abutting the balcony complained, but we noticed the rooms had been cleaned then sealed so can’t imagine how anyone was in them. Really strange and left a very poor impression.

My only complaint is that I arrived an hour early before check in. I didn’t expect for my room to be ready but I asked to use the bathrooms, I was 7 months pregnant. The woman working on Friday, June 23rd in the afternoon told me there are no public and bathrooms to walk up the hill to use the bathrooms at the courthouse. I asked if I could the office bathroom and she said no.
Our room was clean and had a very pretty view. It was very bright in the morning, there are no shades because of the big skylights on the roof, but that was very clear went advertised when booking the room. Just bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to sleep. Would I stay their again? Absolutely. I just wished the person at the desk could have been a little friendlier.

We arrived to be met by a very helpful person, perhaps even the owner, although our original room was nice we asked if there were any oceanfront rooms available and we were directed to room 7 which was wonderful, complete with covered balcony looking out to the Harbour. Soon after arriving we were again contacted and told that we could only have room 7 for 1 night and would have to move to #16 n building next door. After biking around all day we arrived to room 16 to find it equally as nice...complete with a small kitchen and wonderful patio overlooking the water!!! Highly recommend this place and staff were excellent.

Our room was in the Studio building, not in the main Inn. It was clean and good size with a patio giving a partial harbour view. The patio door did not have a black out blind so sleep usually finished around 0600am.
The owners do their best to provide a quiet facility but this is not possible due to the location of the room which is on the ground floor beside the main entrance door to all the units and adjacent to the staircase which the guests in upstairs units must use. We were disturbed by noise both early morning and late evening. Disappointing in view of the rate paid.

We had a great stay. Lunenburg is a quaint and small town, and the hotel is ideally located within a very short walk of everything in the center, including the Bluenose. We also took a slightly longer walk to the other side of the harbor (to Lightship Brewery), which was well worth it.
The hotel itself is charming and quaint. Our room was in the side building, adjacent to the main building where check-in took place. The room was VERY spacious and immaculate. It was also comfortable, with nice air conditioning. Our view was nice overlooking the harbor, but it seems that the rooms further west of us might have had better/less-obstructed views.
Want to especially recognize the terrific service provided by the front desk. We forgot a Kindle after checking out and weren't able to return to pick it up. The hotel staff went out of their way to mail the Kindle to us, despite some complexity on addresses and other logistics. Truly great service.

The check in was very easy and the owner is a lovely jovial man. Our room was #18 which was in the building next door. It had 1 flight of stairs so if you have very heavy luggage, you can always book one of the main floor suites or pack a smaller bag for quick stays. Our room was beautifully updated with vaulted ceilings and so clean. Our room had a very comfortable bed and a skylight that overlooked the docks. We could see all the boats in the Harbour. The location is fantastic and walking distance to everything. The parking is on the street and we got lucky a few times with parking outside the Inn. Only 2 suggestions for the owner, a counter/bar where the skylight is so you can have your drinks or food to sit upon and a hair dryer as there is so much storage in the bathroom. If you are staying in Lunenburg, this is the place to stay. I highly recommend it!
